Rating: Summary: Hope springs eternal Review: This is the best book that I have ever read! I have never read such an honest and personal book about a celebrities life. It took great courage for Micheal J Fox to let us enter his life as he did. I am very glad to have read this book. I for one felt, that if you had money and were famous you couldn't ask for more. But I was wrong. He shows us the real important thing in life is not work fame for fortune . It is indeed the time that you spend with your family that matters. And to treasure what ever time you have with them. He uses his own trials and tribulations to help others. And in that, hopefully they will find a cure for Parkinsons Disease.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Book!! Review: I just got done reading this book, and I thought it was very well written. I read it in about a week because I couldn't put it down. I loved being able to read something that he wrote, and not something some magazine wrote about him. I would reccomend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Book! A MUST read ... Review: This book is much more than a biography. It is an insightful, thought provoking, and reflective journey through the ups and downs of life with a chronic disease. As a result, I consider it a MUST read for anyone with (or related to someone with) Parkinsons, Alzheimers, Diabetes, MS, and the like.
Rating: Summary: touching Review: for long-time fans this is a heartfelt history of the man we have long admired. The way he responds to his illness and thrives in spite of it is amazing. A great example for all of us! We need more heroes like MJF!
Rating: Summary: We are All Luckier now Review: Michael J. Fox's "Lucky Man" is an incrediblely touching book. He offers complete insight into his life and how he felt after being diagnosed with Parkison's Disease. He talks about his struggles he has had through out the years while coping with his illness. It allows you to see into Fox's hopes, fears, pain and joys. This book is not only emotional, but extremely inspiring as well. After reading this, he not only has showed us how to laugh, and smile, he also shows a new way to look at life, and appreciate it. Michael J. Fox considers himself a 'Lucky Man' for everything he has experienced in the past ten years. This book has made me appreciate what I have, and taught me to not take for granted everything that I may have taken advantage of before in my life. His story is truly touching, and also has made me realize how lucky my life has been.
Rating: Summary: Michael J. Fox is the man. Review: Great story. I love Michael J. Fox the same as the next guy, just didn't think the book was well written. You can tell it was his first go at a novel from page one. But the story that lies behind his words were nothing short of passion. It made me feel calmed to know good people are everywhere, you just have to take the time to look for them. Michael J. Fox is amazing. The stuggle he endured and the great man he is today is proven by this novel. Also just to mention all of the proceeds from this novel go to the Parkinsons' Foundation.
Rating: Summary: 10 Feet Tall Review: I found Lucky Man to be truly inspirational. Even though Michael J. has been one of my favorite actors for years, I picked up this book for several reasons. I truly wanted to know what was going on in his head, because I wanted to know what might have been going on in my father's head as he suffered through PD for over twenty years. PD eventually caused my father's death, and I am still struggling to understand this horrible disease that robs people of the basic dignities of life. Through Lucky Man, Michael took me back through so many experiences that my family went through with my father, and I truly am inspired at Michael's courage to bring PD to the attention of the world. This book answered questions I didn't even know I had. Things I saw my dad suffer through and we just didn't understand. Michael J. is 10 feet tall in my eyes, and I would love to thank him for revealing his innermost thoughts and feelings, as well as imparting knowledge to the world about Parkinson's Disease. I know how Michael feels in regards to his admiration and love for his wife and children. My father thanked my mother over and over by word of mouth, until finally you could only see the love in his eyes. Thank you Michael, for bring this disease out in the open, and for bringing my father back for just a little while.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely the best book you could read this year Review: I bought the audio version of this book so I could listen to it in my car. It took me a couple of days to listen to it fully during my commute. I've already listened to it a second time. I would highly recommend this memoir in audio form. I know it's abridged but listening to this book in Michael's own voice certainly adds a lot to the story of his life. There is a lot of emotion in the way he reads it and you really feel what he's saying about life and about his life. I am definately going to buy the full length hardcover after listening to the CD. Michael J Fox has a firm grasp on the fundamentals. He could show a great many people just how their lives should be lived.
Rating: Summary: Well worth reading!! Review: I can still remember the day I sat at a table next to Michael J. Fox in a Chicago restaurant. I was surprised how small he was, how handsome and well groomed. Silly as it was, I felt from that moment on that I would enjoy watching him as he grew old -like he was an old friend, brother or family member.. I had to buy this book as I was devastated to hear of his PD. The book is excellent!! It was all I hoped for and more. It is not often that we can get into the mind of someone living through a human experience like this. Most of us know someone who has one of these devastating diseases, this book teaches us how to deal with these precious people. I also bought this book on tape and found it to be the best way to read this book. Michael reads it, and he does a fabulous job. Buy it, I can't imagine anyone who would not appreciate it.
Rating: Summary: What a Wonderful Man! Review: Wow, this book was wonderful. My cousin is 29 years old and has extreme MS. I told her about this book and ordered it for her on casette since she shakes to badly and can't read a book anymore. I really hope that a cure comes soon for PD and MS and all others. My cousin is still one of the nicest, happiest people in the world and once I read Lucky Man I realized how much in common she has with Michael J. Fox. Thank you Mr. Fox for all that you have done for all of the silent people out there. You and my cousin are one of a kind.Sincerely, Dana Mischler (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA)
