Rating: Summary: the song grows stronger and more lyrical Review: Read this book in one long rich gulp. If you can restrain yourself take it more slowly so the pleasure will last. Ms. Karon's wonderfully human pastor and wife are delightful and vigorous in their new adventures and the new location allows for rich new characters. At the same time Ms. Karon weaves Mitford and its people smoothly into the new story. The joy of simple things, good friends, thought and caring are amply explored as this book takes us back home.
Rating: Summary: This book is wonderful! Review: After finishing Out to Canaan,I couldn't wait for Jan Karon to write another Mitford book!I have not been disappointed. As always, she makes the reader feel as if they are actually living the story along with the characters. The people of Whitecap are as interesting as the people of Mitford and I hope that we see more of them.Keep up the good work,Ms Karon and get number 6 out to us soon!
Rating: Summary: Jan Karon is a genius!!! Review: I don't think I've ever read another author who gives me such a feeling of peace while I can't turn the pages fast enough. I have such a good feeling after finishing one of her books, and a desire to be more like Father Tim and Cynthia. As an Episcopalian, I also appreciate how she weaves our liturgy and passages from the Bible into the stories. I hope we won't have to wait too long for the next book, but I'm glad to have my collection to re-read!
Rating: Summary: As always -- inspiring Review: If you are one of the many who became part of Mitford, you'll love the latest installment. My life was put on hold until I finished it. I only wish Jan could write faster. Her ability to weave positive, clean fiction with spiritual messages is a joy. Ignore the St. Petersburg comment, if they hated the first 4 books, why'd they read the 5th?
Rating: Summary: I absolutely loved reading this book. Review: I eagerly awaited Jan Karon's new book and was not disappointed!!! Although the setting has changed and the characters are new-it was still a wonderful vacation and escape. I cried at the end!!!
Rating: Summary: This book was a waste of time like the others Review: Two thumbs down for Jan's book. It severely disturbed my eating habits. I would recommend that all who feel inclined to buy this book, don't. Stephen King writes better than this.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous 5th Book Review: Another wonderful entry in the Mitford series. I laughed and cried and was totally mesmerized for the four hours it took me to read this book in one sitting. If you liked the first four installments, you will like this one as well. Although many new characters are introduced, they are just as interesting as the older, well-loved characters. I await anxiously Volume VI. Ms. Karon, write faster. I love your books.
Rating: Summary: Fantastique!!!! Review: As usually, another wonderful story of Father Tim and the whole Mitford gang. This book, the 5th in the series, is set away from Mitford itself, but the characters all play an active role in the progression of this story! If you like the other books in the series, you will indeed like this one!
Rating: Summary: I thought this book was super Review: I htoought this book was super It is a pleasent fifth addition to the collection
Rating: Summary: A New Song is a breath of fresh air Review: Good for Father Tim and Cynthia. Cynthia finally got Father Tim to venture out beyond the great town of Mitford! They didn't get off to the best start with the massive storm on the way to their new home, but all turned out good. Poor Johnathan gets a wonderful loving home while the town takes care of his mommy and I think that was probably my favorite part. I loved how Cynthia, not being a mom herself did such a wonderful job with a sad little boy who wants nothing but his mommy back. This book had such heart to it. A very good read.
