Rating: Summary: Just damn good ... Review: The first I ever read of Sidney Sheldon. A surprising story that keeps you pinned to the chair and your hands chained to the paper ... A strimming story line, written in easy and simple way. as one occasion leads on to the other - you will not be able to put it down ...
Rating: Summary: Kind of silly, but I couldn't quit reading Review: The science fiction aspects of this book were a little silly, and when I realized that the author was going in that direction I almost quit reading. But he is a good enough writer with enough twists and turns to the plot to keep me reading.
Not the best fiction I've ever read, but it was entertaining enough to cause me to read it all.
Recommended for light reading. It sure beat watching television!
Rating: Summary: Exciting (if you suspend disbelief) Review: The story was thrilling as the lead character (US Navy Commander Robert Bellamy) tries to locate all the UFO witnesses. However, it is beyond belief that Robert would not be suspicious when one of the witnesses (the photographer) dies the day after Robert has found him and identified him to his superiors. Robert blissfully continues to find the other nine witnesses, identities them to his superiors, and then is shocked when his superiors try to kill him also.
Rating: Summary: Great novel Review: This book is an excelent piece of work. It was so engrossing that I had to read it all in one session - couldn't put it down. I especially enjoyed the second section, where the lead character goes on the run from the world's authorities - and manages to outwit them all! I recommend "The Doomsday Conspiracy" to anyone with a love of reading.
Rating: Summary: Sydney Sheldon at his best Review: This book is one of Sydney's best. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you like fiction and the tv show "X files", you will thoroughly enjoy this book
Rating: Summary: Ghastly attempt at SF Review: This book is proof that writers unfamiliar with the SF genre should not attempt to write in it. The Doomsday Conspiracy is filled with dated Pulp Sci-Fi cliches that would have any SF author since the 1920's laughed out of print. Clumsy uses of literary "technique" and a ridiculously presented ecological "Message" make this book one to avoid even for those unfamiliar with Science Fiction. If SF is what you want try Greg Bear or Vernor Vinge instead.
Rating: Summary: Escapist fun! Review: This book is quite different from most of Sidney Sheldon's other work in that it has a man as the main character and a science fiction twist. It is the same as his other novels in that SS has such creative and interesting ways to twist the plot and surprise. Not being a fan of science fiction, I still found it to be fascinating escapist fun. The ending is too far-fetched and did spoil my enjoyment some, but until then, it was a hell of a ride. It also had me looking suspiciously up at the stars for a night or two.
Rating: Summary: Great book, very good read, nice concept about aliens Review: This book, is a must reed, for science fiction and intelligence service fans
Rating: Summary: Big waste of time. Lots of description that lead to nothing Review: This gift book was a huge disappointment. The first half of the book went into trememdous detail about people who were never seen again. The ending was a bigger let down than the time I wasted reading the book.
Rating: Summary: My Fav So Far Review: This is my favorite Sheldon book so far! I love Sheldon and science fiction so this was great. It was complete with twists and turns and everything expected from a great Sheldon book. I definatly would recommend this book!
