Rating: Summary: It was a very big change but I hope she will write a sequel. Review: This book was quite a startling departure from the Decker/Lazarus series and I confess that I had to disengage my expectations of it being similar. I did find it hard to get into at first and the book probably should have been a little shorter. By slightly pass midpoint, I wanted to continue to see what the end would be. I hope she will write a sequel, I cannot conceive of this book being a "one off". Develop the characters, and please tell me what the antagonist is going to do in LA, how Poe is now affected from being bit and his revived relationship with his brother.. Good job for having the courage to do the unexpected - when she could have continued in a successful vein.
Rating: Summary: Not Kellerman Calibre Review: The book starts out promising with interesting, if sleazy characters. However, it reads like a "B" screenplay - has somebody optioned this for a film? The Las Vegas setting doesn't really fly - just not enough detail to believe Faye's spent much time there. The ending is the most disappointing. I kept hoping for something unexpected in the climax, but once I got there, I just had to roll my eyes. Faye's forte is reality and character relationships, not X-Files mumbo jumbo. I was going to recommend this book to a friend who had never read F.K. before, but told her not to bother with this, and suggested she read the Lazarus/Decker books instead even though many of them are out of print.
Rating: Summary: I thought this book was great, it was a nice departure. Review: I thought this book was a nice departure for the other books Faye has written. I think she does and excellent job of describing what it is to live with a copulsive, impulsive who is hyper. She made the charter real to me. I felt that it was a surprise and I was not expecting the end. I hope that others read this and enjoy this book as I did. Poe was a beliveable charter and so were the others. I enjoyed this book and I was sorry to read other reviews who didn't. Some people have no imagination. I hope that Faye writes something like this again. I am a die heart Kellerman fan of both Jonathan and Faye. Reading one Kellerman led me to the other. I felt that this book is worth the read and the escape. Thanks Faye keep up the great work!
Rating: Summary: Very disappointed Review: I am a big fan of Faye Kellermans, but this book was a major disappointment. It wasn't just that this is a departure from her series. There is not one character in this book to like, they are all sleazy and unbelievable. But the main problem for me was her attempt into the bizarre- a character that "morph's" belongs in Jonathon Kellermans books, not hers. The ending was so unbelievable, it left me feeling cheated.
Rating: Summary: New characters killed by the super natural! Review: Faye, Faye, Faye!! You could have established a new set of great characters to go with your other series. By making the story so unbelievable it really hurts. Just like Patricia Cornwell's departure Faye misses the mark.
Rating: Summary: Not your average Faye Kellerman novel........ Review: Her previous novels have believable, 3 dimensional characters, exciting plots AND most of all, logical conclusions. Despite the 400 plus pages, the book would have been much better off without the supernatural.Overall, Faye misses the mark with Moon Music.
Rating: Summary: Kellerman can do better than this. Review: This "departure" from Kellerman's usual writing style is not compelling. The dialogue is good, realistic and believable, but to me, the majority of characters were not likable, and their lives seemed ill-conceived and strange. The setting shifts between grim and sleazy. The plot is tedious and the action, slow, even boring. I had to force myself through it, on the off chance that it might get better. I loved Kellerman's Decker and Lazarus series. Moon Music plods along, and just doesn't work.
Rating: Summary: Faye should stick with Decker/Lazarus series Review: I couldn't get in this book. Faye Kellerman should stay with Peter and Rina. This series is really great!
Rating: Summary: Could not put it down Review: I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it was quite a departure from her normal Decker/Lazarus novels but I really like the main character, Poe and liked all of the other interesting people in his life. Yes, the story was far-fetched, but, I think if you read it on that level, it was a good book. Maybe those who didn't care for the book just don't appreciate change from a favorite author. Good luck in your other departures, Faye!
Rating: Summary: Far below par for an excellent writer Review: This is a new kind of a story for the writer and she fails. Too many unanswered questions and the mystical nature is like an immature Stephen King attempt-to-be.
