Rating: Summary: This is a real sleeper! Review: I've read many of Kellerman's books, and while most of them are pretty decent, this one is a total bore! In others of her books I've seen signs of "religious prejudism" against certain christian religions, and it's here again, over and over again. Not only that, but the book is BORING! I've been working on this for the last week, and am only on page 155! I read about 10 pages, then go to sleep! Great if you have insomnia!
Rating: Summary: Moon Music Review: I've never read any Faye before. Being a huge Jonathan Kellerman fan, after running through all of his Delaware books I decided to try Moon Music. I picked it up in a second hand store and a woman walking past me said, "That was a great book." I agree with her. I want more Romulus Poe. Please let's have a sequel. I want more of this world of Faye's. I think I can fall as much in love with Poe and his tribe as I have with Jonathan Kellerman's Milo and Alex.
Rating: Summary: The Stuff That X-Files Are Made Of Review: Although somewhat difficult to get into at first, Moon Music quickly becomes an excellent read, mixing the quick sands of sci-fi with solid hard-rock thriller. Set in Las Vegas, its surrounding desert and the 1950s nuclear test sites, the plot revolves around two central murders, two mirror murders dredged up from the past, and the complex relationships of the LV homicide squad, their wives, lovers, friends, relatives, colleagues and enemies. The variety of characters and subplots is both a strong point and a distraction: for example, Kellerman uses a global village of characters, but in order to make them come alive, she has to give the kind of physical detail that slows down the story and forces you to work hard to keep everyone straight in your mind. In the first few chapters, even keeping first names, last names and nicknames straight can be a problem! However, there's a great deal of fascinating information, both medical and historical, in the story - enough to justify your taking the time to look up the story of the US government's nuclear testing for yourself. The ending is deliciously ambiguous, making you hope that a sequel is on the way. I really don't want to give away the story line - it is definitely the stuff that X-files are made of!
Rating: Summary: I'd vote ZERO stars, if I could. Review: "Moon Music" begins strong, and I enjoyed the character development Kellerman spent the first half of book on. However, the second half of "Moon Music" is so far from any of the clues or what I expected that I despised the book entirely. Did Kellerman just not have a clue as to who-done-it?If you like way-out-there things and SUPER twists, you might like "Moon Music." I hated it.
Rating: Summary: I almost put it down Review: I am a Faye Kellerman, Decker and Rina fan. There are no more to read so I figured why not give this a try. Well, I almost stopped reading after about the third chapter, I was actually sick to my stomach. The detail of the murders and the mental illness is amazingly realistic, yuck! I stuck it out and ended up up all night two nights in a row until I finished the book. It was truly an attention getter and keeper!! I can't wait for her next book.
Rating: Summary: This one deserves a minus rating. Review: I have read all of Kellerman's Peter Decker books and have enjoyed most of them enormously. When I saw this one at the library I immediately checked it out. After plowing through half of it, trying to keep the characters straight and finding them so unpleasant I decided to come and read the reviews and wish I had done so earlier. Thank you to those reviewers who recommend utilizing my reading time on something that would be more enjoyable. I shall not be finishing this book. It will be back in the book drop this P.M. And yes, I agree that Amazon should have a zero stars rating, this one deserves it.
Rating: Summary: Faye, what happened? Review: After reading and enjoying every Peter and Rina mystery, Ieagerly bought Moon Music, thrilled that Ms. Kellerman was branching out. UGH -- what a mistake, what a disaster, what a travesty! ...The characters are not only unsympathetic, they're downright despicable; the depiction of women and sex in it are nothing short of misogynistic, and the premise of the whole story is simply ludicrous. UGH...
Rating: Summary: Faye Kellerman rips off her readers Review: Moon Music is one of the worst books I can remember. I have read all of Faye Kellerman's previous books, and nothing prepared me for this silly plot, poor character development, and hideous writing. The subject matter might be better suited for sci-fi, but there is no remote connection to science. The premise is not fantastical--it is the kind of concept that would attract 9-year-old boys. A very exploitive and silly, silly book. Does Faye Kellerman hate her readers? Does she think it was worth it to meet a publication deadline?
Rating: Summary: Thumbs down to Romulus Poe Review: I struggled with this book. I could never quite like the main character. He seemed such a weak person and always a day late figuring out the obvious. I don't think his physical size was the what made his image so whimpy. His attitude was his downfall.
Rating: Summary: NOT THE BEST BOOK ON THE SHELF Review: I FOUND THIS BOOK PRETTY UNBELIEVABLE. CERTAINLY A DIFFERENT READ THAN THE RUN OF THE MILL THILLER..BUT JUST COULDN'T QUIT SWALLOW IT. IT STUCK IN MY THROAT. BY SOME IMPULSE I DID WANT TO FINISH THE BOOK, TO SEE WHAT KIND OF ENDING KELLERMAN DEVELOPED. NOT ONE OF THOSE BOOKS YOU CAN'T PUT DOWN, BUT NOT THE READ I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE.
