Rating: Summary: Gangbusters!! Review: This is a truly great read. And the best part is that it's not the same old, same old. Cheers to Kellerman for having the courage to break from the formula and create some new rules. This is a book that you simply cannot put down. The Deckers are a lovely pair and I too will look forward to their return; however, Moon Music is the kind of book that separates authors from mere writers. Bravo!!!!
Rating: Summary: Kellerman should stick to Decker and Lazarus Review: Though her new characters were interesting, there was no softness and love in this book. The whole premise was far fetched and I think she has been living with her husband too long. His very dark way of looking at human behavior has rubbed off and I was surprised that other people enjoyed it. I'll await Peter and Rina's return.
Rating: Summary: New Storyline Great, But.......... Review: Having been a fan of Faye Kellerman's ever since her first book, I started this one with a new character a little apprehensively. While it was interesting, I found some of the plot kind of wayward bound, too much confusion. I miss the Rina/Peter stories.
Rating: Summary: I was disappointed in the book itself. Review: Although I became quite interested in Poe, the main character, I was quite disappointed in the book. I figured out who committed the first murder quite early in the book. I also did not care for the amount of sexual descriptions and the "imaginary" angle she used in this book. I really felt that this was written as more of a "commercial success" than her Decker series. I personally enjoyed all of the Decker series (but saw where she was trying to become more commercially accepted in False Prophets). If Ms. Kellerman continues with Poe I hope she does it more in the Decker style without the extra "sex and smoke screen". She knows how to write a great murder mystery and I hope she will continue to do so.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as Rina and Peter!! Review: I was very excited to see a new novel by Faye Kellerman, but was soon disappointed. The story is extremely difficult to follow. There are too many characters and none of them are well developed. The only thing Ms. Kellerman hit right on the nail was her description of Las Vegas. Stick to what you do best and please give us more stories with Rina and Peter!
Rating: Summary: I'm in total agreement with "mariannem"'s review! Review: I loved the characters and hope Ms. Kellerman continues to use them in a sequel. So many interesting people! The Native American and Indian background of her main characters is a refreshing change from her usual Jewish protagonists How often do you find sari-clad coroners in love with Paiute-Italian detectives? BUT, the supernatural twist seems better suited to Stephen King. If I want fantasy, I'll read fantasy, but if I want to read a good detective novel, I'd prefer my detecting to be realistic.
Rating: Summary: The worst she has ever written Review: The characters were all unlikeable, immoral without any direction in their lives. If this is the new Faye Kellerman, I won't be reading her any longer
Rating: Summary: Faye is getting better and better with each new venture. Review: I began this nonDecker/Lazaras novel with skepticism - not necessary. Faye has given us an entirely new group of folks to love, hate, laugh at, ponder over, question. I look forward to many more Poe books. I did not find too much stuff thrown at the reader - I am a series reader and appreciate the need to introduce me to the characters so in the future I will know them as I do my friends (and enemies). One criticism - Faye - please stop with the "beat" and "pause." Enough said - don't let Peter and Rina fall by the wayside - they are like family to all of us. And yes, I cannot sweat much longer, find this man another home - or at least put in the finer things of life. Great book - you are getting better and better and I look for your books once a year - in the summer as I do Jonathan's every January.
Rating: Summary: Page turner. Don't start it during lunch. Review: Faye Kellerman writes action packed titles with short, "just one more" chapters. Because of this, I have returned late from lunch many times. Moon Music is not of the LA Police Decker series, but it has the same complicated plot structure that presents multiple points of veiw. Her characters are very human, with faults and fears and baggage. I look forward to becoming better acquainted with this Vegas police force in future titles.
Rating: Summary: Very pleased to see a Change from her detectives! Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down. Much better work than Decker/Lazarus. Hope she continues with Romulus Poe for awhile.
