Rating: Summary: An unbelievable story full of ugly, selfish people. Review: I look forward to Faye Kellerman's books. In fact, since my local library did not possess her books, I requested that they begin purchasing them. Now I am just embarrassed! What a terrible and depressing book! There is not one character that the reader can enjoy let alone like. If Las Vegas really is full of people like this, it is a wicked, vile place where NO ONE with any goodness would reside. I kept reading hoping for an ending that would make the reading ordeal worthwhile, but it just got so unrealistic that disappointment and disgust were my final reaction. I would recommend you avoid this book like the plague. If it was possible I would give this book NO STAR at all!
Rating: Summary: Wasn't prepared for sci fi. Disappointing! Review: Oy Faye!!!! When did you become a science fiction writer? The book was spellbinding-AT FIRST then went rapidly downhill when Alison begins to morph. Began to read like my son's Animorph series. Stick with a good thing when you have it Faye. The whole book was too psychotic for me, very much like your characters. Two thumbs down on this one, and that's from a fan who's enjoyed every one of your other books. Better luck next time for both of us.
Rating: Summary: It was not what I expected from Faye Kellerman. Review: I settled in to read a book by one of my favorite authors. I felt so let down that I had to force myself to finish the book. In the end there were no redeeming factors, it was really bad. I donated the book to the library, maybe someone else can borrow it and save their money.
Rating: Summary: Most disappointing from such a gifted writer. Review: As a long time reader of Faye Kellerman, I no longer read the fly leafs. Her name - good book - synonymous UNTIL "Moon Music". She started out disappointedly and continued to the unbelievable end. From Las Vegas hookers to severely dysfunctional characters, she failed to bring any kind of connection between reader and subject matter. Come back, Faye Kellerman, wherever you are!
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I am a huge fan of both Faye and Jonathan Kellerman's work, but this book left me very flat. The characters are more interested in gambling and whoring than their jobs, so I found it very difficult to identify with them. I suspect the tale is a very accurate depiction of Las Vegas life (at least for some of the residents), but it all seemed like LA without the redeeming qualities. The plot did draw me in, but only to lead me to an utterly ridiculous conclusion. Genre shifting at the last chapter is definitely uncool.
Rating: Summary: fare Review: First thought was hard to adjust to the new characters but after awhile warmed to them. It was a good book but the ending was a bit of a let down. It seems that she had to find an ending and hurried it.
Rating: Summary: Certainly different from the usual Kellerman style Review: This was an intiguing story with fair plot and character definition. The story line is definitely different from the usual Kellerman novels that we are used to. There is only a hint of the "Jewishness" which I have become fond of in her other books. I felt at times the dialogue was sketchy and out of context, it was difficult to follow and jumped rapidly among characters. The story was also quite radical and out of line with usual detective stories.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed in the plot. Review: I've read almsot all of Faye Kellerman books and enjoy reading most of them. However, this book was a real disappointment; not because this wasn't a Decker/Rina character driven book, but because the plot was unbelievable and ridiculous.
Rating: Summary: What a waste of time!!! Review: If it were merely poorly written as are many of her other books (and I have read them all ignoring her writing for her superior story telling ability), I could have tolertated this book. But, poorly written coupled with a ridiculous, shallow story and undeveloped characters is more than I can stomach. I have bought, read and mailed all her other books to my family in Texas to enjoy. This one will go to the recycle center.
Rating: Summary: Yuck!!! Review: It's hard to believe this book was written by Faye Kellerman. The ending leaves the story wide open for a sequel, but I for one won't be reading it.
