Rating: Summary: A book that can be read and reread for spiritual renewal. Review: This incredible book was originally given to me as a present when I was thirteen years old. It was immediately relegated to the status of a "Boring Gift", and placed on my bookshelves to gather dust. Many years later, as I was discovering my own spirituality, I opened the book and began to read. I couldn't put it down then, and have picked it up many times since then to reread passages that were pertinent to my life at the time. The words that Mr. Gibran gave us speak to so many aspects of our lives using non-judgmental, inspiring messages. I highly recommend it as a wonderful gift, not only for others, but for yourself. It's a book that you will read and reread, and will learn new things every time.
Rating: Summary: have to agree with everyone who comments re: Victoria, BC Review: whoever that person is obviously doesn't get it, and won't. whoever thinks they can use many big words and try to come off as intelligent(in re: this book), are not "all that" (to coin a current phrase); however, it just conveys the depth of their being, which is nil. anyone who cannot by moved by his touched by his insight obviously doesn't have any.....just my meager opinion.
Rating: Summary: thought provoking and touching Review: I read the prophet when I was about 13 years old. Being a teen was (and is) a difficult time, but this book gave me insight, ideas, and a sense of peace at a very difficult period in my life. It provided me with information, inspiration, and a spiritual feeling that church, sports, academia, and other endeavors could not. I have given a copy of the book to every woman I have been involved with in my adult life...
Rating: Summary: My favorite book of all!!! Review: The Prophet is absolutely the best book I have ever read. It is so touching and spirit filled. I recommend The Prophet to just about everyone who touches my heart. I'm always disappointed with readers who gather anything less than spiritual enrichment from Kahlil Gibran's translations. The Prophet reads like a beautiful song. I love it.
Rating: Summary: This book is my bible Review: Every poem in this book is a thing of beauty. It's the only book I ever wanted to memorize word for word. It is my bible. I give this book as a gift to all those enlightened and close to me.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever Review: The Prophet is the best book I have ever read. You have missed something in life if you haven't read it. It's simply divine.I am bothered by a review written by "a reader from Victoria, BC" that appears in this column. He or she must be the most illiterate and thick-headed person that ever read a book in any form. This person does not deserve to read a book like The Prophet.
Rating: Summary: simply the best Review: The prophit...is my HOLY-BOOK. highly recommended, for every one wishes and tries to understand life.

Rating: Summary: Both Book and Music are classics Review: I was once given a record by my mother by Richard Harris which had this haunting picture on the face. At that time, I had no idea that there was a book of the same title. My mother gave this to me with the strange tone in her voice that she was preparing me for something special. I did not understand that at the time, but I thank her now for it. Little did I know then that it would be a source of the greatest peace and happiness to me. I listened to it so often, I can still recall nearly all the words off the top of my head. I had not thought anyone could think in such lucid wonderfulness, much less write in such a fashion. All my attempts at poetry throughout my life pale in comparison to the self-evident beauty found there. I highly recommend getting the musical verison of the book, which is beautiful in a manner not often achieved by new New Age artists. When I read the book today, I still hear echoes of Richard Harris' voice in my mind. It took years for me to learn of the book, and my old record is too scratched to listen to anymore. It is still available on tape. Richard Harris, my thanks to you for speaking aloud the wisdom of the book which serves as my life reference since the seventh grade. Thanks to Kahlil Gibran for spending so much time to deliver us the simple humanity one can not often find in words.
