Rating: Summary: The most valuable book I've read Review: To put it simply, I always make a point to give this to people who have had a positive impact on my life. That's how important this book is to me. This isn't a cult thing. This is just humanity at it's best.
Rating: Summary: "Simply beautiful" Review: This book gives a beautiful detail over the so called "trues" that we hold up as laws and standards in this society. It also answers the "whys" we have with "spirituality" (not religion). Very enjoyable. A must have...
Rating: Summary: glorious! Review: one of the most spiritual books i have ever read. A must buy
Rating: Summary: Great book that looks at life and explains it well Review: I discovered this book just prior to getting married 25 years ago. My wife gave it to me as a wedding present because it meant so much to me. The poem of the teacher is worth the price of the whole book. Any one in leadership role at all should read this poem on a teacher and then read the one on your particualar profession. This is a must read for anyone who wishes to teach on any level, in any situtation: public or private education, Sunday School, preaching, industry, College, or whatever.
Rating: Summary: The Prophet is a great book. Review: There is no other book like The Prophet. I thought it was deep and profound. I was actually felt like I learned a hell of a lot from it. The analysis of different subjects and issues made me think and I enjoy books that do that for me. I suggest this book for the religious and the non. Everyone should read this.
Rating: Summary: Truly divine. Review: Kahlil Gibran is a philosopher, a visionary and, above all, an artist in every sense of the word. For, the words of "The Prophet" are like music moving through you, becoming a part of your soul forever. I am eternally grateful to my friend Michael for introducing me to this man's extraordinary gift to humankind.
Rating: Summary: fascinating Review: This book gives one a complete understanding to the most unanswered questions of humanity.
Rating: Summary: The Book That Made Me a Gibran Worshipper. Review: I first read this book when in my teens, and I've never stopped reading it, even in my late 30's. That is the sign of a classic, when you can read a book for the rest of your life, and still get comfort, inspiration, and fresh insights from it. It's been my personal gospel, and made me a Gibran Worshipper. You know you've become a Gibran Worshipper when you carry a pocket edition of "The Prophet" around with you like some people carry around copies of the gospels or New Testament (which I do). But with a book like this, that is no blasphemy. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: The best gift for the ones you love Review: I first read this book when I was nineteen. It was given to me by a very special friend, with the words "I always give this book to the ones I love". I read it as soon as I got home that day, and just couldn't stop before I got to the last page. It taught me to know myself a lot better and to view the world differently. I then started to think of it whenever I wanted to buy anyone a gift. I soon got myself saying "I always give this book to the ones I love". best word to define it: Marvellous
Rating: Summary: A clearer understanding of life! Review: I first read this book while i was in college in San Francisco a few years back. I was young and confused about life and what i wanted out of it. I recently traveled to Lebanon and visited the Khalil Gibran Museum, it was a magical experience. Khalil Gibran is not just an amazing writer, he's magnificant painter. Reading "The Prophet" uncovered much confusion in my life and impacted me in a way that has made me a successful person today in all aspects of life. I give this book to beloved family and friends because it's a very special part of me that i want them to have. Remarkable!!!
