Rating: Summary: A great start to a lifetime of reading! Review: Wow! I really thought I had a secret! It is so wonderful that I am not alone in one of my best childhood memories. I read this book as a first-grader. I may have read it three times in a row because I had a strong need to spread the word and make my brother and sister feel as excited about this book as I was at the time. I can still remember the feelings of adventure these fictional children gave to us. This book kept me inside on warm spring days.
Rating: Summary: This was one of my most cherished books. Review: I first acquired a copy of this book when I was in the second grade (I think), around 1984. I loved it from the start. I read it so many times that I practically had it memorized. I then began reading it to my brother until he started reading it himself. I have carried that same copy with me to this very day. A couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to share it with a young second grader with hopes that he too would fall in love with it. I still to this day like going back and reading it, it gives me such a feeling of warmth and love. I will be getting my teaching license in May 1998, and I definitely plan to spread this magical book to all my students.
Rating: Summary: Two Thumbs Up Review: This is one of the most interesting books that I have ever read.It is so interesting and moving the way the four children pull together after there parents died. This book shows a good example about famliy that stays together and make it throught every obstacle. There home was a boxcar. They made the best of it until they found there Grandfather. This is a book about children that have adventures. So if you want a book with adventure, mystery, laughter, and a hole lot of fun thi is the book
Rating: Summary: This is the book for which the library had a waiting list. Review: The Boxcar Children is a special magical book that every kid should read. My local library had only one copy of The Boxcar Children, and maintained a waiting list of children eager to read it. It is one of the few books I have kept since childhood and will keep forever
Rating: Summary: Why I like this book. Review: I like this book because the Aldens are very greatful for things that we think are trash, even a dumbster with things nobody cares about. I like all the Aldens in a very specail way. I like Henrey because he is a great example for all the Aldens. I like Jessie because she's always helpful. I like Violet because she is always willing to make new friends. And last but not least Benny. I like Benny because he is always trying to find a mystery
Rating: Summary: Brought me back to my grade school reading adventures! Review: I had searched and searched for this book locally, because I could still remember how great it was from my grade school days. Anyway, one day I discovered Amazon.com on the Internet, and did a "search" for the book, and they had it! As I read it I still felt the sense of awe and adventure that I felt in grade school, and I am now 38 years old! This is the type of book that started me on a life-long love of books
Rating: Summary: My all time favorite! Review: As a 32 year old mother of 2, I can only tell you that this book has remained with me since 3rd grade. I am purchasing a copy for myself. If my children are lucky, I will share my copy with them. This book is a must for all children.... and any adult who is still a kid at heart

Rating: Summary: Gertrude Warner Museum Review: I also read this book as a child. I did not put it aside till I was finished. The copy I read was signed by Miss Warner as she had been my mother's teacher. I live in Putnam, CT where Miss Warner lived. The Gertrude Chandler Warner Museum has recently opened in an old boxcar. It has been renovated and sits very near the railroad station she lived near as a child. A google search will bring up some items on the museum. I never met Miss Warner but, by all accounts, she was a wonderful woman.
