Rating: Summary: A MUST READ Review: I've read this book at least five times and each time I read it I wasn't able to put it down. I don't know what some of you people were thinking when you rated it a 2. Don't you recognize the best? It is my favorite book. I don't care about grammar, and don't care about the little stuff. If you didn't like it the first time then I say read it again! The only problem I've found was that Terry doesn't write fast enough...I find myself starving for his next book.
Rating: Summary: Kicks ass Review: I read this book about 5 times since I bought it. It is Probably the best book i have ever read. To put it bluntly, it kicks ass!!!!
Rating: Summary: A professor of Literarure at UC Berkeley. Review: Althought this book is not as original as I thought, Terry Goodkind is very smart in reviving some stories from another authors, but in general, the book will receive 9 1/2 because is one of the books that made me cry for more! The characters are very defined as they should be in every fantasy book, the story is almost original and the way that Terry goodkind put these factors together give him the credit to be at the same level as Terry Brooks, and others, or maybe at the level of Shakespeare. You have to read it carefully and give yourself into it, then you will understand what a fantasy story is! I like it and I hope that the sequels are as good as the first book. MIL BRAVOS for Terry Goodkind and his BOOKS.
Rating: Summary: The best book I have ever read!!!!! Review: Terry Goodkind has created the most excellent and intriguing book I have ever read! Whether you love or hate this book, I guarentee that you will be pulling your hair out in some parts with anxiety over what will happen to the characters. The personalities Goodkind develops for them make you care about what happens to them. There is surely a character that everyone will take to heart. Especially Zedd. I find it impossible to believe that anyone would hate Zedd! He's hilarious! The plot is well thought out, the characters are heartwarming.....if you like fantasy, this book is a MUST HAVE!! And if you read it and didn't like it, all I can say is, "What be the matter with your eyes?"
Rating: Summary: Quit now - don't waste your money. Review: This is one of the worst fantasy novels I've ever read. Period. The writing is terrible - I can only assume that Goodkind's editor is bound and gagged in a closet somewhere, in desperate need of rescue. Bad grammar is only the beginning - there is no character development, almost no originality, except for some S&M stuff not usually found in the genre, and nothing to recommend this book except for its value for the buck. Goodkind must be getting paid by the word. I will usually finish a series I've begun, but I could barely force myself to finish this book. With all the other great writing and original storytelling out there, there is no reason in the world to waste your money on this series.
Rating: Summary: Hats off to Mr. Goodkind! Review: A very good series of books. I am a moderate reader of fantasy novels and thouroughly enjoyed each and every book in the series. As I finished one book, I immediately sought out the next. Anyone who gives this book a low rating has either read several hundred books of the genre and is having a hard time finding completely original ideas, or is simply bitter due to their own failures in the arts. It's that simple.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully written... Review: Love him or hate him, admit at least that Goodkind keeps you turning the page to find out what is going to happen next. He succeeds in making you truly care about what happens to his characters, and this is becoming harder and harder to do as Fantasy situations and characters are slowly starting to look the same. He is truly a talented author, and deserving of praise.
Rating: Summary: Could Of Done Better Review: This book had one of the best settings and characters I have ever read about. But this guy completly blew it. Giving everyone powers and sometimes they had them and sometimes they did not. All of that mumbo jumbo about prophecies. Names like Darken Rahl gimme a break. Then you find out Richard is Darken Rahl's son, sounds like Star Wars with Luke and Vader.
Rating: Summary: Extremely Addictive and Compelling Review: I could not put this book down. Not to reiterate what has already been said by the above reviewers, I just want to add that I could not wait to get home to read "The Book". When discussing it with my friend who was also reading it at the same time as me, we would refer to it lovingly as "The Book". I have never read a book like it and probably never will again. Its great! By Keira
Rating: Summary: The best nail biter I ever read Review: I have never read a series that held me so excited yet scared. This series was addicting. Especially the Temple of the Winds. When Richard and Kahlan were forced to separate I could actually feel the pain. In every book in the series surprises pop up in every corner. I do not know what will happen. Terry Goodkind kept me more than interested. I can not wait for the next book to come out I have never left reality in a book the way I did with these.
