Rating: Summary: Well worth the read!! Review: A compelling storyline..Addictive at times to the point of not being able to put the book down because you'll want to continue to read further to see what happens next. Well developed characters. Wish Zedd had more play in the book. Goodkind spent to much time on the Denna(Mord-Sith) and Richard's inter-action. Michael's role should have been a bit more developed. Other than those few minute setbacks, this book was fantastic and very entertaining. I highly reccommend fantasy readers indulge in this book. You definitely wont be disappointed. I give it two thumbs up!!
Rating: Summary: Great Book!!! A little long, though. Review: yes, this was the usual science fiction fantasy book, the poor woods guide to the highest political position who doesn't want the power. That was expected, though. It's all about how you tell the story. Goodkind did an excellent job telling this story. I didn't want to put it down. I'm halfway through the second now, and I can't put it down either. Goodkind is up there with Eddings, Duncan, and Jordan. (let's not forget tolkien, though). This book is definitely worth the read.
Rating: Summary: The best fantasy book ever written! Review: This i sthe best book ever written and there is noone who can say otherwise.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfull***** Review: One of the best Fantasy books I have ever read.Every time I needed to put the book down to go to sleep I just couldnt do it. Dont miss your chance,Read it and the reast of them. there all wonderfull. Just cant get enough of Terry Goodkind.
Rating: Summary: This one kept me interested from the first sentence! Review: Eddings, Jordan... move over. There was never a dull moment. We were constantly urged to find out how, or who, or when. There was often something unexpected around the corner as Goodkind placed us IN Richards situation. I don't think I've ever been able to empathize with any fantasy characters as I did with these. I must find out what is next!! Bravo, Goodkind!
Rating: Summary: THIS IS A GREAT BOOK. (big black period) Review: It really is. The story is captivating, the characters are realistic. It was an enchanting tale. Too bad it was so short. How could anybody not love it?
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: This is the first fantasy novel I've ever read (actually I listened to an unabridged audio version). I'm now hooked on fantasy novels, and considering I began the book half convincing myself that it might be a waste of time, that's no small feat! From the beginning of the book, I was pulled into the world of Richard and Kahlan. Goodkind's descriptions created a world that was easy for me to "see," and characters that are easy to care about. And, the book had enough action to keep my interest. In fact, I hated for it to end! Because of all the comparisons I've read about between Goodkind and Jordan, I also read Jordan's first book in the Wheel of Time series. While I found that book highly enjoyable and I have already purchased book two, I prefer Goodkind's writing style. I felt closer to his characters than I did those of Jordan's. BUT, I will continue to read Jordan as well, and I'm now looking for book 3 in Goodkind's series since I just finished book 2 (Stone of Tears).
Rating: Summary: Title tells all. Review: First off, I enjoyed this book, and even though it was lacking in orginality, it compensates with the idea of the "Wizard's First Rule". Throughout the book, people choose to believe what they want to believe, and a person with "magic" can take advantage of their belief. Terry Goodkind was not trying to convey in his book that people are stupid, but rather they are influenced by what they believe to be true. If the Author can put together such cohesion, then he should be commended by infusing thought into a worn genre. Terry Goodkind does write such simplistic sentence (unlike Robert Jordan with his double sentence fragment), but I believe it to relate to nature of the "Wizard's First Rule", where people will believe what they want to believe, and if they believe that he is the best writer in the world, then he is. He just convince you that he is the greatest writer by having such a simplistic structure. Bravo, for such thought to the Author.
Rating: Summary: The most delish book I have ever read in my life!! EXELENT!! Review: My boy friend and I have never been able to agree on any book. On this one we just clicked!
Rating: Summary: A detailed fantasy. Review: This was the first fantasy book I've ever read. However, I have read a variety of other books and can tell you that WFR is not as good or as bad as some of the other reviews make it out to be. The book was very gripping (although at times to detailed i.e. Khalan in the Con Dar, Darken Rahl underworld ritual, and the Mord-Sith). I did, however, like the simple prose form of writting Tery Goodkind used writting this book and I am going to buy any future installments of the Sword of Truth Series.
