Summary: UNREAL
Review: That is probably the only word that I can come up with right now. I have read all of Terry's books in this series except for the(due for the release in August)Faith of the Fallen. I expect that it to will have the same passion and abandonment as this one had. I would even recommed this series to someone who wouldn't normally read sci-fi fantasy. Keep up the great work Terry!

Summary: Decent
Review: A decent read, it's one of those books that starts out hackneyed, unorigional, and just plain dull (w/bad, melodramatic writing to boot) but the last 2/3's of the book is pretty good, and the ending is good enough to be almost worth the entire read. Personally, I liked the rest of the series better than this first book.

Summary: An epic world with characters you'll love!
Review: This is a great first book in what promises to be one great journey through Goodkind's wonderful new world. One word of advice though, do not compare this to Jordan while reading it. not that it isn't on par with the wheel of time(it may even surpass it at times) it will just ruin this great book. I did just that at first and wasn't seeing how great this book really was but soon got over that. This is a wonderful tale of large magnitude and while it may have had a few fantasy genre flaws they were very few and dwarfed by the spectacular world. The world Goodkind has created here really draws you in. The characters are equally enthralling and even secondary characters are interesting. Just like another well written series. So, if you are waiting for that next great epic to come out, don't. It is here and will give you everything for your time. It is long and so are the subsequent in the series but that is what makes it great. Attention to detail but not over doing it. Get this book and be prepared to step into one that you won't be able to put down. Goodkind is one of the best creators of the genre.

Summary: My first fantasy novel
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I was a little afraid at first that I wouldn't like it, but I soon became so absorbed in the story line that I read 100 pages a night. I haven't done homework in days, so I'm going to have to be a little less absorbed by the second book (which I started yesterday, the day I finished the first).

All in all, I think this novel was a worthy book introducing me to the genre (I have been dedicated almost entirely to Sci-Fi for the last ten years).()

Summary: Interesting, but not very rewarding
Review: Terribly predictable from the beginning, this novel isn't quite as groundbreaking as the accolades printed on its covers might suggest. The characters don't have much depth and the plot devices are all too familiar tools of the fantasy genre. The one strong feature this book has is a relatively fast paced and interesting plot. Goodkind spends an appropriate amount of time exploring the world history, and doesn't get caught up in the emotions of our protagonists. When he does spend time on emotional development, it is believable, but unsatisfying and, again, quite predictable. Not a bad book to begin a series, I suppose, for your light-reading needs, but it's not exactly challenging or original. 800 pages is an audacious debut, though, and there are some promising elements in the book. Goodkind can weave an interesting story, even if it's not well developed. I'll be interested to see how the author develops as the series progresses and he gains more writing experience.

Summary: WFR Review
Review: This book is able to develop character personalities quite well, and the many secrets the main characters keep from each other in this great book make for a rewarding experience. This book is quite long, but worth the time. As soon as I finished it I ordered the next book in the series. Towards the back of the book, there is even a several page excerpt from Stone of Tears, the book's sequel.

Summary: Wow
Review: You know what, guys? Some of you just take literature far too seriously. I mean, it's just a book for God's sake! Sheesh! The following is a review of the book as well as a review of the reviewers.

First, the book. I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I'm a big fantasy fan, and I thought this was a worth entry into the genre. Sure, some of the scenes were a little silly. Some were gory. Some were intense. And some were really graphic. But a book this big and involving was never meant to be read by twelve-year-olds. You're an adult, you should be able to handle it. If you can't, no one's forcing you to continue. Take the book back to the library, sell it at a used book store. Whatever.

Anyway, I liked it. The writing is such that the reader really begins to feel for the characters. I still get the shivers whenever I read about Richard's capture and subsequent torture. And the reader really cheers when Kahlan snaps and kills the bad guys with her magic. Like I said, a worthy entry into the genre.

Now, the review of the reviewers. What the hell is up with you guys? Mostly, the folks that enjoyed the book are very good-natured. They liked the book, and they basically just wanted to say their piece and leave. The biggest complaint from the book-haters has been the bad grammar in the reviews. Well folks, nobody's perfect, all right? One review by A Reader (didn't want to leave your name, huh?) said that everybody's grammar was terrible. Well, pal, you know what? When you're using the possessive, the word YOU'RE is spelled just like that, not YOUR. And English is capitalized, too.

My whole point is that you should all lighten up. If you liked the book, that's great, but if you didn't, don't call us morons. Just say "I didn't like the book. End of story." Learn to handle your stress in healthier ways.

Summary: Of Truth, and Sword
Review: This novel is a wonderful book, with an amazing cast, and a powerful story. With the hero of the story Richard Cypher, an amazing, and rare person with the power to yield the Sword of Truth; and the only one who can save the lands from the evil dark wizard Darken Rahl. Along with the help of Kahlan Amnell, the Mother Confessor of Midlands, and Zeddicus Zul' Zorrander the powerful wizard of the first order. They will go on quest of epic proportion with great mystery, peril, and race against time to keep Darken Rahl from putting the 3 boxes of Orden into play, and enslaving the world forever.

Summary: CLICHE AND CHILDISH
Review: I have read fantasy since I was seven years old (starting with C.S. Lewis and Tolkien), and this book was on the 2nd grade reading level. The authors writing style was simplistic and redundant, and 90 percent of the images in the book were hackneyed and trite. The Bone Woman and multiflavored Gars were the worst. The only original part of the book concerned the Mord-Sith and the still somewhat cheesy training by pain. If you want a serious good book do not look here.
