Summary: Read it a year and a half ago and my mind is still rolling!
Review: This book, I can tell you here and now, is one of the best books I've ever read. Components such as setting, characters, plot, development, the writing, the descriptions, the scenes... all sums up into a masterpiece. I read a lot of Sci-Fi books and a few Fantasy when they look appealing, and a friend lent me this book. It took me about 3 months to actually sit down and read it... and when I finally started it, I did it out of compromise for this friend who had said I would like it. Like it?!??! What an understatement! It changed the way I read fantasy, analize writing and the way I write myself for ever! I have a problem, though. I *CRAVE* to read it again, but this friend moved and I live in Mexico, so I don't have the book and I can't get it. I have all the rest of the books in the series, have read them and reread them. But this is the all-time BEST! And I would LOVE to read it again... am planning on buying it this May, when I go to Texas to see Star Wars... A treat, from beginning to end. It wraps around you and pops into your mind on situations and conversations for months (years?) to come. I GREATLY recommend it. You won't put it down.

Summary: "Wizard's First Rule" one of the best Fantasy Novels ever!
Review: This book tells the story of an ordinary person called Richard whos life is changed drastically by a chance meeting. He was brought up in a world with nothing out of the ordiary such as magic for instance, and he now finds himself caught up in one of the most inportant evants of all time. The plot is filled with intrige and desite as Richard's view of the world, his friends and himself changes forever. Richard's only choise is to follow duty and destiny in his quest to save mankind.
Richard croses the "Boundary" not only in his way of thinking and finds himself confronted with the impossible. Dragons, Wizards, and the ever ominous "Confessors" all have a part to play in this brilliant Novel.
The series is continued in a furher 7 books and I would stongly recomend all of them. This series of books is unmissable to any Fantasy reader.

Summary: Magnificent Novel
Review: In this first work, Goodkind gives us an amazing contribution to the fantasy genre. In Wizard's First Rule, the way Goodkind is able to illustrate the numerous different characters and situations truly takes your imagination on a gripping roller coaster ride that leaves you not only feeling as if you are looking in, but as if you are there. With his compelling way of bring the horror of Darken Rahl to the light of your eyes you are left feeling hopelessly drawn to the ever so enthralling story. Also, when you read through this epic story of Richard and Kahlan's struggle Goodkind seamlessly build this astonishing world that really give you the feeling that there really is an entire civilization here.
Speaking only for myself, this was a great book, but it did however have its low points. As in most of the Goodkind's early writings, he seems to follow the same trend. First, it's quick and compelling to bring you in and gives you the roots of the story, and then he slows down to do a good deal of needed characters development, but then he seems to rush the ending. With all things considered, this book/series is great and should not be missed by anyone who remotely enjoys the fantasy genre. If Goodkind in his later books could overcome his few shortcomings and better balance his books, he could become the great fantasy writer of our time.

Summary: Excellent all the way until.....
Review: This book is an excellent, quick and entertaining read. I didn't mind the breaks in the action for good dialogue. This book is over 800 pages long - so you can't have all action all the time. The characters show amazing depth and you come to care about them greatly. That is when Mr. Goodkind breaks into the most gratuitous of torture and rape sequences. Please, we get the point. Several chapters on this is HIGHLY unnecessary. And then the book ends. So it is fabulous and riveting....until the end.

Review: I must say, this is one of the best books out there. it takes a lot to get me to sit down, start reading a book and then to actually finish it. This is one book that kept me coming back for more with it's exquisite details and the unpredictable plot. If anyone is looking for a good book to read and they don't mind becoming addicted to an entire series (like i am!!) this is definately the book fo you!!!!!!

Summary: Great Book
Review: This book is one of the best books I have ever read. Some people said that this book was sometimes "Slow" and "boring." These people simply do not understand that these slow parts of the book are there to inhance the plot and are not "meant" to bore you. If you are the kind of person who wants nothing but action (see above review written by JOE) then this is not your kind of book. In fact, there is no book that I could recommend to you, because without dialogue and the "slow" parts, no novel can be complete. This book was well written, in more ways than one. When you read this book, don't worry about things such as the writing style or the slow parts, just enjoy the book, after all, that's what books are written for.

Summary: The best book I've ever read
Review: Short and sweet: I loved this book. I've read the series once and am now re-reading it almost immediately after finishing book seven. I can't put it down. The characters are three-dimensional, the action is non-stop, the plot is rich, and the story is fresh. I want more, much more. Mr. Goodkind, get off your tukus (sp) and write 7 more books right now! And, by the way, thank you very, VERY much for giving us what you have so far!

Summary: Its ok, could have been great.........
Review: The world is detailed and has lots of original ideas. I liked the little twists, it makes the reading even better. This novel had awkward pacing though. Like, sometimes it can be a page turner, then the next moment, your reading about 80 pages about some dang tribals, no action, no plot development, just 80 pages on tribals, yee hah. One of the more boring scenes is a series of torture sequences that lasted for like 100 pages. I mean, it was really offensive at first, then it just got tedious. Can we just get on with the novel and kill the freakin mistriss. The characters are flat also, but i dont need to go in detail about that, just read the other bad reviews, and then read the good ones and read what they have to say about the characters. Nothing. But when the plot did move along or the action did start going, it was like readin a fantasy classic, untill, of course, we take a 50 page break campin in the woods lecturin about prophecies. ZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!

Summary: Entertaining
Review: If you like Robert Jordon's Wheel of Time, you'd probably like this book too (Same premis of boy hero battles great evil, but more conventional in many ways). I don't recommand the entire series, but the first book is worth buying (I feel everything gets worse after book 1...) Good:
-Classic appeal.
As mentioned above, you would know the premise instantly. The familarity has an odd appeal. You know, the prophecy, the old wizard, the hero & the girl, and the evil dude.
-Some interesting variation
Seeker of truth, confessor... etc are interesting.
-Ending
Yes, there is actually an ending. Although it leaves opening for a new book, it's not like other annoying book where you must buy another one to find out what happens (I hate that). The main conflict will be resolved at the end. Bad:
-not-so-great writing
Don't expect excellent prose or anything like that.
-cliche
while classic stuff is good, sometimes Goodkind uses them without significant change... that's BAD.

Summary: Must... Read... Sequal...
Review: My list of favorite Book Series: 1. Lord of the Rings 2. Sword of Truth (this one) 3. Shannara This is an excellent book. It does a bit too much forshadowing, but makes up for it with a great story with great characters and... general great everything. An example of foreshadowing is that the cover shows a scene in last 25 or so pages of the book. I was on the edge of my seat when... well I can't tell you but when you read this (which you should, and if you don't want to cause its so long, you'll do it anyway or else your entire existence will become meaningless because you'll have never read it (for real!)) So, read it or have your entire existance become meaningless because you never read this.
