Rating: Summary: A life transforming work Review: I have been a Christian for 19 years and have continued to "work through my salvation with fear and trembling" for many of those years. That's the point; I didn't need to really fear in the modern definition of "fear". This work enabled me to take a look at my spiritual condition in a frank unashamed way and come to grips with it in a way that has freed me of the gut-wrenching strongholds I have had all my life. It also has given me solid biblical basis for how to continue to remain strong. Not being able to normally memorize scripture didn't hinder me. I didn't set out to memorize but by praying many of the prayers over each day for weeks they have become a part of me. I fall back upon them when I start to question or doubt my progress. My life will never be the same because of this work. Had heard about praying scripture before, but this brought it to life for me and made it practical by taking topic after topic and working through it. The book is arranged by topics which start with a brief insightful narrative and then quote scripture with a brief thought to also pray along with it.
Rating: Summary: Only For Beginners At Best Review: I was extremely disappointed in this book. It is a pseudo faith message that lacked any fresh or revitalizing insight. Only for a beginner at best. Many christians are serious about deliverance and breaking strongholds, something this book seems remiss to address. If you like books that are superficial and shallow, this is the book for you. If you feel otherwise, look further.
Rating: Summary: Going to be around for a long time, New believers buy it! Review: Just look through the table of contents, you'll find yourself. Do you struggle with re-occuring feelings of guilt? That's what hooked me in. We are all weak in areas and Beth has shared her humble heart that she admits has failed, but the secret everybody is that God is close and will give us strength if we abide in His word by prayer. You will be encouraged, if you only have to fast one meal to afford this book, you will not, I really mean it, you will not be disappointed, although the enemy might be.
Rating: Summary: Mediocre Review: This book is a great book in teaching you how to pray by the scripture. The Chapters are laid out by our strongholds, although I found some of her scriptures to not coincide with their chapter totally. In some cases, I even thought her scripture prayers applied to more than just the specified stronghold, yet one might be apt to skip over a chapter in fear of it not applying to them. This is my first Beth Moore book. I am sure she is a wonderful writer; in fact I loved what she had to say in each chapter. I just think the book layout was a bit awkward.
Rating: Summary: USING GOD'S WORD TO BREAK FREE FROM SPIRITUAL STRONGHOLDS Review: This book is a wonderful tool to help you in the process of breaking strongholds. Beth Moore has done all the leg work in researching God's word for scriptures relating to a number of common strongholds such as fear, feelings of guilt, feeling unloved, despair and others. This book combines scriptures and prayers together that you can claim as you work to breakdown lies and replace them with TRUTH. This is a great companion book to Beth's Breaking Free Bible Study.
Rating: Summary: Praying God's Word: Breaking Free From Spiritual Strongholds Review: Whether you are a new Christian or someone who has a commited relationship to the Lord, you will find this book helpful. Although Beth Moore is the human author listed on the book cover, she is only God's messenger, these prayers originated with Him. It doesn't matter whether you think you have strongholds in your life or not, you will find this book a wonderful companion to your Bible. I have already given 4 of these books as gifts to hurting friends...I recommend this for ladies or gentlemen. If you have taken Beth Moore's study, Breaking Free, this book will be great followup to that powerful experience!
