Review: This is the best story I have had the privalige to read. Many books I pick out I never finish, half way though I end up stoping. I did not put this book down once. There is no rival to this wonderful adventure.

Summary: A fun summer time read.
Review: Meg is a lot of fun, just don't take the book to seriously. Sure most of the book is far fetched but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying it. I liken it to eating a nice big greasy cheeseburger, you know it's not the most nutritious but it tastes great. It's also a very fast read and it's never boring.

Summary: THE RAPE OF THE READING PUBLIC: NO STARS
Review: This astonishing book is noteworthy and will probably last a little while as an example of how crass, how calculating, how utterly divorced from any legitimate interest in advancing literature(or even just a well told yarn for public consumption) the publishing industry has gotten. The story is shamelessly stolen from JAWS, the science is made up, and Alten is really a basketball coach, not a writer. The story reads like Barny, the dinosaur, wrote it. It's actually funny in parts, but it was not meant to be. The author claims to have done lots of research which is simply impossible given the incredible number of errors. At the end of the book Alten recomends "Great White Shark" by Richard Ellis and John McCosker as an excellent source for those seeking information about Megalodons. In the LA times Book Review of MEG July 20, 1996, Richard Ellis questions how Doubleday can, "justify paying a million dollars for this outrageously awful book, crammed with egregious errors of fact, and stuffed to the gills with writing so awful that it would insult the intelligence of a sea cucumber..." and "whenever the author discusses biology, paleontology, oceanography, or any other recognized scientific subject, he gets it wrong." This is not just a bad book. It is an outrageous attempt at ripping off the public by disguising the worst sort of trash as something readable. Alten can burn a reader once, but not twice. No one wants a second bite of a rotten apple. Richard Ellis finished his review of "MEG" in the LA Times book review, "I am more than a little embarrassed to see that in his author's note, Alten acknowledges me and McCosker for our book "Great White Shark"...If "MEG" is what we spawned, then we ought to be ashamed of ourselves too." Richard Ellis is right.

Summary: Audio Tape Version is Great!!
Review: I have read the book which is pretty good. I feel it is well written and interesting. This book does a fine job of taking your imagination and twisting it untill you start thinking of living Megs out there somewhere in the ocean. It builds fear in you and still you feel as though you must continue reading. Later I got the audio tape version which was wonderfull!! The reading is complimented with wonderfull music and makes it much more enjoyable. The music keeps up with the dialog being spoken and makes it much more intense. The only thing that I can think that is bad about the audio tape version is that you don't feel the same satisfactory that you do when you finish reading. I hope that a CD version of this comes out soon.

Summary: This is the Worst Book Ever Published
Review: This is truly the most horrifying novel I have ever read. How anyone at a publishing company could green light this putrid story and horrendous writing is absolutley the most terrifying thing I can imagine. If I had known that one could get a novel as poorly written as this published I would have dropped out of elementary school and become a millionaire novelist by now. And to think I went to college to study literature! What a waste. If I could figure out a way to give this book zero stars I would. END

Summary: Pretty Good, a little infantile at times, though.
Review: Compared to Jaws, this book is only decent. Alten seemed to lack on the description and creativity, but that allows the reader to visualize each moment. It was an intense, yet, unbelievable reading experience.

Review: Before I ordered Meg, I read all the reviews from past readers. I was afraid I'd read this book with bad writing and shallow characters. NOT! This book may not be War and Peace, but at least it's fun to read! You must read this book!

Review: Meg was my first novel and all I wanted to do when I got up in the morning or got home from school was read the well written and very descriptive book. I really loved the first few chapters. This book rarely had any boring chapters.

Summary: Meg is much more "gripping" than Jaws.
Review: Did I like it? Well, I finished it in one sitting if that gives you any idea. I kept thinking "I'll put it down right after I finish this chapter," then I'd be at a really good spot and "I'll put it down right after the *next* chapter." Before I knew it I was on the last page."Meg" grips you from the very first chapter when you are given the sheer dimensions of the megalodon. I could imagine myself in the sub going down in the Marianas Trench through the smokers and seeing a real Meg for the first time - and being terrified. Wonderfully so. I won't give any trailers that give away the ending, but suffice it to say, this book will keep your attention from beginning to end. Peter Benchley step over. The new king of the sea has arrived.
