Summary: OUTSTANDING--LOVED IT
Review: I am a 75 year old female and have been watching Bill O'Reilly and FoxNews since they came on the air. Great news channel, love their logo We Report You Dedice, this is the way I think any News program should be run. Biases have no room here. Bill O'Reilly is an Independent and announces this often. He has his views and will not stand for spin from guest. He gets to the point quick and wants honest answers. That is the way this book The O'Reilly Factor is so much like his TV Program.

If you love his TV Show you will love this book. He talks about life and what you need to do to be successful. He give insight into his own life which was very interesting. He states if he could make it anyone can make it in America. He divides the book into sections, first accept your life you were born into you can't change some things, middle is how to deal with things you can change. Finally he lists the good, bad and ridiculous of people in American Life. This book is a winner.

Summary: No One Could Say It Better
Review: Well written and down to earth. It takes a good person to admit when they are wrong. (and right) A must read, my 13 yr old even liked it. BUT, Bill you are going to run the risk of someone thinking you are a really nice person.

Summary: Very disappointing
Review: I got this book for my daughter who is studying journalism. She called from college to tell me that was a mistake. Her class tore this book apart, apparently due to the fact that the book is filled with the kind of opinionated bias that journaism students are taught to avoid at all costs. My daughter says that her professors are concerned about Americans' eroding confidence in the news media and that this kind of book fuels that lack of confidence. "We're told to present just the facts as impartially as possible," my daughter said, "and to keep our opinions to ourselves." I guess that Mr. O'Reilly did not study journalism. And that makes me wonder how it is that he has a news show in the first place.

Summary: Offensive
Review: What happened to the role of the impartial newsman in our society? How can I believe any Bill O'Reilly news reports when he expresses such bias in a book? It's no wonder we don't trust the media anymore.

Summary: Common Sense: The presidency does not affect the economy
Review: Finally! This book tells of a man who actually uses common sense when dealing with issues. Not all are viewpoints perfect, as a thoughtful mind will decide its own course of action, given the facts. When a man is allowed to state the completely ridiculous, as O'Reilly does with Clinton, is to tell the truth about the gears and mechanisms that allow this economy to run. I frequently have bouts with people who say that president Clinton is wonderful because of the economy. I tell them to specify their convictions by naming a 3 actions Clinton has carried out to "produce" our great economy. They rarely can point out even one. Any great politician/actor can feed bogus statistics (the reason for his success) to a willing audience and take credit for the private sector's progress. A politician who has faced NO GREATER ISSUE in his span of 8 years than his scandal should be remembered for his accomplishments: nothing. Where would Bill Clinton be without the internet and globalization tactics of completely non-partisan American business? O'Reilly allows the individual to use common sense when dealing with issues and not allowing the uneducated to equate a completey unrelated effect of the presidency with a robust economy. He points out the indisputable flaws. We do not have a king in office. We have a president. We are not Great Britain, though maybe we should be, seeing as how if one is to really contemplate it, Americans largely support Clinton, who is nothing more than a figurehead.

Summary: The Standard!
Review: Love him or hate him Bill O'Reilly sets the standard for objective journalism. A discipline often spoke of and rarely scene. That is why this book and this reporter have the establishment media terrified. Read this book and decide for yourself.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Real real
Review: As I browsed through the negative reviews of this book, I realized more shots were taken at the author than at the book. I found one review that suggests Mr. O'Reilly is not "a true" journalist. To watch his show and make it the basis of your daily news intake would be ludicrous. It is obviously a show that reports news with personal perspectives. Agree with him or not, you must respect his willingness to have his views challenged, and challenge the views of others. As for the book, I bought it in CD format and very much enjoyed it. I suggest this book to anyone, and even watch the show with my 2 yr. old daughter. It's refreshing and encouraging to see someone not bend over backwards for the sake of "political correctness".

Summary: Great advice for anyone in their teen years.
Review: I am fifteen years old and after hearing Bill O'Reilly recommend his book to teen readers, I went on the Internet and bought it at Amazon.com. I do not regret my decision at all. This book dispenses a lot of useful advice to teens about drugs, alcohol, dating, and the working world. The book includes many tips on how to succeed in life from a person that has a lot of experience. I would recommend this book to any teen reader.

Summary: The American 'dream'.....
Review: Is just that! I was abandoned as a handicapped orphan. As i shuffled between physically and emotionally abusive foster families and residential programs, nevering having a family to call my own, I was often told what a burden I was and how much i cost to raise and that i should be grateful to even have institutional food,hand-me-downs, and a very erratic, choppy education.I did not ask to be born and if i had the choice, i would have chosen not to be. At 16 i ran away, procured an apartment and completed high school making Honor Society while working 2 jobs.I attended technical school and colleges over the next 20 years earning numerous certificates and 2 degrees and paying $70,000 in tuition costs, sometimes working 2 full time and 2 part time jobs simultaneously to afford for it a total of 104 hours per week.Over the years i have paid $125,000 in rent, $65,000 in federal tax, $30,000 in state tax, and $40,000 in social security, long before age 40.In addition, i worked very hard at my employers but often earned little which i had to subsidize with part time jobs and volunteered for 15 years as well. I found lost relatives, helped support them and basically did all i had been led to believe is good and necessary for a successful life. Today I am unemployed and even though I have had some courses to keep up with internet-based technologies, no employer will give me a chance to gain experience in this 'new, booming economy'. I have had job coaching, interviewing and resume prep instruction to the extreme and live in the Northeast, "America's technology region".I read that Massachusetts employers are going into prisons to recruit employees but none will give me a chance, even though i have a clean background and long work history of reliability and hard work and loyalty. In addition companies are said to be willing to train but none will give me a chance. Also, citing a lack of technically skilled workers, the govt just approved 585,000 immigrants over the next 3 years to fill high tech positions-- many of these not being the downtrodden, but the cream of the crop in their countries-- while i receive nothing but job rejections. I have a computer and electronics background and this is where it has gotten me.All too often i have been told "you are not trying hard enough or smart enough..." or " it is your fault..." even though i have taken efforts that no one i know has ever taken. I will probably never have a home of my own, a comfortable retirement, or perhaps even children. In my region, the average home costs $300,000. I have never made enough to support a family, with tuition costing me many thousands per year.when Bill describes in his book about the American 'dream' and how many are not achieving it, i know exactly what he means. I only share my experience to give an example of the undisclosed side of the American 'dream'.

Summary: Survival Guide for the Regular Guy/Gal
Review: Bill O'Reilly slaps it home with this "survival guide" for the regular guy/gal. Mr. O'Reilly does his best to keep it balanced while covering everything from shady politicians to necessity of a good deodorant. It's like stopping for a beer with him after the show. I bet he'd rattle off 200 pages of dialogue before you can respond! Thanks Bill, for bird's eye view with the worm's eye perspective. P.S. Saturday Night Fever didn't view a Brooklyn sub-culture...it created it! Brooklynites had to go to Long Island or Manhattan to disco. (Remember Speakeasy or Adam's Apple?)
