Rating: Summary: It's A mystery Review: I do like O'Reilly on TV. If you want to read how to succeed in the world by paddling against the current, O'Reilly's book is a good upstream guide. It's also a good gift for teens that are often exposed more to socialism and mediocrity in our public schools than to self reliance and high standards. But, in the end the book is more about an unorthodox O'Reilly than substance. O'Reilly freely spoons out fatherly advice, but chose not to discuss how his advice impacts his own family. That's his option, but it leaves a big hole in the book. It's easy to opine rules and recipes to others, but do they work at home? It's a mystery.
Rating: Summary: Definitely Worth The Money Review: O'Reilly tells it like it is. A very good book which makes you think about some of the things that go on in our society. A book that makes you wonder and ask questions. And that is a good thing. The only reason I can't give the book 5 stars is because of the last chapter. It's terrible. O'Reilly in a previous chapter rants about America's obession with celebrity. Then in the last chapter which he dedicates to the "good things" in America, all he does is mention celebrities. This chapter should be on O'Reilly's most ridiculous item of the day list. But still, great book overall.
Rating: Summary: lame Review: Typical "I want less government, unless it's for my right-wing causes" mentality. Only for the sheep of the world.
Rating: Summary: Some just don't get it Review: Bill O'Reilly should not be compared to beat journalists in your daily newspaper or news readers on your local TV news. It perplexes me that some have ripped him for not being "objective" in his well-written and thoughtful book. He is a news analyst, and only a journalist in as much as he gathers the pertinent facts before hand. His show is based on a philosophy of vetting out the so-called objective journalism based mainly on talking points. Bill goes out of his way to explain the premise of his show regularly. For someone who graduated from one of the best public school journalism programs in the country, I believe O'Reilly meets the objectivity quotient by not taking sides and being tough on everyone. As he states in the book, he is a watchdog, not a lapdog. This book is not Journalism 101, anyway. It's Life 101, a text many Amercians should read.
Rating: Summary: Even better than I thought Review: The O'Reilly Factor is one of America's fairest and most entertaining TV shows. The book is much better than I thought it would be. It's often difficult for a TV personality to write a book of substance. O'Reilly has done just that. Great job Bill!
Rating: Summary: Traditional American Values and Common Sense Live On Review: In these times of sound bites, subliminal ads, high school shootings and other non-sense it's nice to see a man who holds to traditional American values and common sense. Truth is his goal and he wants everyone to hear it no matter how much it hurts. Some of his ideas really made me wake up and take notice of my own behavior and pledge to stop being an American zombie to the media. Thank you Mr. O'Reilly!
Rating: Summary: Hypocrisy and Ignorance= Best Seller Review: How does someone who was the host of the tabloid trash show 'Inside Edition', become the new moral spokeperson for America. Bill O'Reilly didn't seem to care about integrity and morals when he was making his money from trash tv, but now that he is on another program he thinks he can tell everyone else how to live. Maybe if you are a narrow-minded hypocrite that is fine. Like Dr.(of what-eugenics)Laura, another right wing hypocrite who extolls virtue and yet has posed nude, hate seems to be the real motive behind these unintellectual tyraids. The sad thing is that people seem to enjoy this garbage, or are they just buying because everyone else is. This is the epitome of the church mentality where everyone goes not because they "believe", but because it is simply a means of showing everyone else how righteous and wealthy one is. Next time your in church look around, you will see what I mean, Its a fashion show, not a religious service, which gets to the heart of why intelligent people will never take this garbage seriously, but, if one does, that speaks more about their intelligence than it does about anything that one may claim to believe or really care about.
Rating: Summary: the no nonsense guide to living in America!! Review: Anyone who watches the O'Reilly Factor on FoxNews is well aware of O'Reilly's straight forward, cut through the spin approach to journalism. And this book is no different. He is honest, straight to the point, and doesn't pander to anyone. He is an important part of American society, because he pushes the envolope forcing others to keep an honest edge. His book is a manifesto of his straight forward approach to life, and should be required reading. I highly recommend it to everyone, to hear the things that no one else dare say!!
Rating: Summary: The O'Reilly Factor : The Good, the Bad, & the Completely Ri Review: BUY IT! BUY IT! BUY IT!! O'Reilly really tells it like it is!! I watch his show religiously but his book is GREAT!!! He really makes you THINK and realize the world around you.
Rating: Summary: O'Reilly is on a roll! Review: One of things that this outstanding book demonstrates is that COMMON SENSE is still alive here in America! Bill O'Reilly doesn't give anyone a break, he cuts through the male bovine excrement and presents the truth! If you vomit when you watch ABC, NBC, CNN, and the Commie Broadcasting System try and spin the news to the left and the Democratic Party, or if you think the media is run by right wing extremists, EITHER WAY THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ. O'REILLY GOES AFTER EVERYBODY WITH ANY MERCY WHAT-SO-EVER! The proof of his success is that he always NAILS THEM! After you read this book you will be taping his show on the Fox News Channel.
