Summary: Starts out interesting -- dwindles from there....
Review: Intrigued by the book jacket's description and praise from Mr. Clancy, I took a wild chance on this debut from an author with obvious literary talents, but with need of experience that only time and future novels will provide. Fascinating premise...had me hooked for the first 200 pages or so. Then, well, I started to lose interest mainly due to the lack of characterization of the main protaganist and his cohorts. I just didn't feel anything for anybody, except for that touch of contempt toward John Hobart. No real hero. Got bored. Put book down. Went back to the library. Rented "Riptide" by Preston/Child. Enjoying the hell out of it. Ahh, much more my style....

Summary: One of my Favorite Books Ever
Review: This perhaps may be one of the best books that I have ever read. There are very few books that have the ability to intrigue and captivate me as much as this book has. From the moment that I opened this book, it was a mission to force myself to put it down. After reading this book, I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of any new books from Kyle Mills and was excited to hear about Storming Heaven which I just recently finished reading. (Another Exciting Ride) and I am excited to read his new book which I believe is supposed to be in stores in the next few months. Currently, however , I am in the search for another great murder mystery starring a character like Mark Beamon. I am hoping that the book "Hannibal" will be somewhat as exciting as Rising Phoenix was.

Summary: interesting premise; overall, somewhat disappointing
Review: heard the taped version of rising phoenix by kyle mills . . . book had an interesting premise: to combat the war on drugs, somebody has poisoned the narcotics supply . . . exciting in parts, the book dragged toward the end . . . also, i did not "feel" for any of the characters . . . might make for an interesting movie.

Summary: An excellent read for anyone
Review: I found Rising Phoenix to be an excellent book all around. With a highly original premise I found I could simply not put this book down. The hero of the story Mark Beamon wasn't highly believable but the wit that the author demonstrates in Beamon more than made up for that fact. The invovlment of a former DEA agent John Hobart with a television avanglist seemed a bit of a stretch but it's okay. The story unravels well and the climax comes as a surprise (it came out of no where) and I thought that was great. All in all this book was an interesting and thought provoking a great read!

Summary: Very good if you love the Clancy genre
Review: This is an entertaining and thought provoking book. I have read few that I liked more, and they were all by Clancy. The premise is awesome, and the characterization twists my perception, and at times I found myself pulling for the bad-guy. :)

Only problem, Kyle Mills (the author) should probably visit Houston, Texas, before using it as a setting in the book. That was the ONLY inaccurate descriptions used in this book. THERE IS NO DESERT AROUND HOUSTON. :)

Summary: a unique, breath-taking novel
Review: Storming Heaven is unlike any novel I have read. A rich televangelist and a former D.E.A.agent plot to win the war on drugs by poisoning the world`s illegal drug supply. Its up to maverick F.B.I. agent Mark Beamon to stop the death-toll and foil the plot.If you like suspense, adventure, or mystery, read this book!It has it all

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Couldn't put it down...love Mills style of writing!
Review: Characters became very real to me as I read this great thriller! This would make an awesome movie!

Summary: Boring
Review: I thought the synopsis sounded good that's why I bought the book.Thank goodness I bought it at a clearance sale as it was definitely not worth paying for.I think the author tried to cash in on Tom Clancy's name to sell the book. It's so boring I can't bring myself to finish reading it.I'm a great thriller fan but this is quite awful as the characters are not well developed. The hero isn't even very likable ...the author doesn't bring the characters to life like so many authors do.Don't waste your money on this book.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very good plot .. interesting developments.
Review: Tom Clancy's name on the book jacket was all that was needed to convince me to buy the book ... and I now know why he touted Mills' efforts so enthusiastically. The concept is fresh, and is developed well. The details of the actual drug tainting are sketchy (unlike Clancy) but this detracted little, as the overall story is excellent.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: thought-provoking and good storyline
Review: I really enjoyed the book. It contained an effective but immoral solution to solving the drug problem in America. The cat and mouse game between the FBI and the antagonist almost makes you root for the bad guy. His characters are very smart and contain a lot of insight into the human behavior. The book wasn't as page-turning as I thought it would be but has a good twist towards the end. Definitely worth a look for a new author.
