Rating: Summary: Too Brief Review: Good book, fascinating concepts. I thought that I was getting the "unabridged" version, but that seems not to be the case. Although this version describes briefly what Mr. Hubbard's science is and how it came to be, I was disappointed in it's cursory nature.
Rating: Summary: A revolutionay new science Review: Hubbard wrote this book to create a better and clear understanding of the main subject of Dianetics for the public to learn how the research came about. He keeps it very simple and straight forward in a way that every one can get it. It is in fact a major breakthrough in the science of understanding how the mind works and how it can be cleaned of the clutters that inhibits us to have a full awareness of what are the causes of our stress, fears, anxieties and depression. It is unlike any other self help book ever written on the subject for the main purpose of reaching the common man to live a fuller and heppier life. Don't underestimate it by its simplicity. Read this book first and then read Dianetics, the modern science of mental health, and you will never be the same, nor will you ever agree with the falsehood that has saturated our environment regarding the sources of our troubles.
Rating: Summary: Tedious and Repetative Review: The six CD set is definatly everything you ever wanted to know about Dianetics. Hubbard presents valuable theories as to our behavior patterns, with many similarites to EST. All good and well, but as with Scientology, it is "My way or the highway". One can certainly gleen ideas for growth, but unless one is to be "Cleared" by the "Church" (or a Dianetics expert), one will never get beyond one's baggage. There is far too much detail and repetition, especially since one cannot truly implement the ideas. Suggest the abridged (1) CD set. You will get the idea just as well. Might want to explore Scientology first, fore if you don't buy (pun intended) into their methods, you really won't obtain much from Dianetics. Suggest that you first purchase "What is Scientology" at Amazon in the used book section, available for $5.00.
Rating: Summary: How it all started Review: This book covers the background of Dianeics - how it all began. It gives the basics of Dianetic therapy, the basics of how the mind works, a concise explanation of what occurs when people are injured, and how this negatively affects us. And what to DO about it!
I highly recommend this for anyone interested in the mind, and who is curious about Dianetics.
Rating: Summary: A well written book Review: This book gives a very easy to read and easy to understand history of the research that led to Dianetics. The writing is done in a very casual tone and is easy to understand and follow. The audio CD is even better because the casual tone makes it sound like the author is talking directly to you! It's a great chronicle of the various things that Hubbard struggled with to create a workable theory that would result in a simple, effective solution to the problems that plague the human mind.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This book opened my eyes. That's all I can say about that. If you want to open your eyes I highly recommend this book.
