Rating: Summary: Collection Review: I have bought every thing that has come out by King. I have his work in all forms but I like the CD's. I can work around the house or just sit back and listen to them. I hope that the books that are not on CD will come out in them.
Rating: Summary: Never too old to use new media Review: I have just bought my first audiobook, only because it was King. I smoke and just die to give up the habit. Never too old to use new media! Snip: (...)
Rating: Summary: What a disappointment! Review: I have read everything Stephen King has written and have always looked forward to what is going to be coming out next. I purchased the audiobook as it was the only way to experience it, even thought I would much prefer a novel. I thought at least it might be neat to hear his voice reading his words. I was so disappointed! The stories were very mediocre for King. I had trouble paying attention to them and I think his style of reading took away from the stories. I hope he has this out of his system! I hope these were old stories he had and decided to finally publish them, I would hate to think this is his latest work and this is what we have to look forward to from now on!
Rating: Summary: Good Stories Review: I have read many, of Stephen King's books over the past three years The Green Mile, Bag Of Bones, Hearts In Atlantis are my favorite. But this audiobook is good stories are good. The music is good also, so buy this if your a Stephen King Fan!
Rating: Summary: Nobody does it better Review: I have to admit, I like the heft of a novel. However, any true S. King fan has to have this audio collection. King's narration adds a wonderful feel to the stories. Once again King delivers the goose bumps, and his characters are wonderfully developed. This collection is a lot of fun, the stories kept my attention, and I couldn't wait to pop in the CD to find out the next twist.
Rating: Summary: Yet another great book from Stephen King. Review: I listened to this book during a 500 mile drive and it made the time fly by. I was so into the book I forgot all about the drive. Each story is excellent, very scary and like other reviewers I found "1408" a lot like "The Shining". "Lunch in the Gotham Cafe" will have you thinking "Gee! Gee!" in bed at night. Stephen King does an outstanding job at narrating. LISTEN TO THIS BOOK, You'll love it!
Rating: Summary: Eeeeeh! This one really got to me! Review: I listened to this collection during my long commute to and from work. It thrilled me to no end to hear King read his stories as they should be read. King is the ultimate story teller and he gives his characters even more depth and makes his stories more alive by reading them to us, in the privacy of our own cars, homes, or headphones. Whichever way you listen to this collection, be prepared. You will be drawn in like no other audio collection can. It will stay with you and you will recall this collection time and again, sometimes with pleasure and sometimes with unease.Yes, you can find these stories in print, but when you have the rare opportunity to have them read to you by the King himself, why not grasp it?
Rating: Summary: No fire behind this smoke... Review: I love Stephen King. I've watched with the pleasure of a fond Aunt as his work continued to grow and expand. After the wonderful experience of listening to the CDs of "Bag of Bones," I could hardly wait to get "Blood and Smoke." What a disappointment. Whereas in "Bag of Bones," we are immediately captured by a decent, caring, complex main character whose musings on literature and humanity are insightful and rich, in "Blood and Smoke" we are exposed to definitely second-rate stories that have only a 10th of the interest and complexity of "Bag of Bones." I could hardly bring myself to care about the main characters at all. Even Mr. King's reading voice was a disappointment. In "Bag of Bones," his flat, Maine twang fits the story to a "T," and impresses the reader with his ability to infuse his reading with subtle shifts in intonation for the different characters (I found myself thinking, "Hey, this guy's a darn good actor!"). In "Blood and Smoke," his reading was much less polished and, frankly, I thought he didn't even sound too interested in the stories. 'Fess up, Mr. King! This is a joke, right? You just wanted to see if we were watching. These stories have all the hallmarks of being written 10 years ago before your style grow out of "horror book shlock" and into literature. (Hmmm. Interesting that a theme in "Bag of Bones" is popular authors' device of keeping a flow of books coming onto the market by publishing old manuscripts stored away years ago for a future need... You shouldn't have told us about that trick.)
Rating: Summary: A good read (listen) Review: I really enjoyed this Stephen King collection; listening to all 4 CDs in a single road-trip day. These 3 stories were just right, not graphic gore, but with more intrigue than I'd expected.
Rating: Summary: Very disappointing. Review: I recently went camping with some friends and, after reading all of the wonderful reviews of Blood and Smoke, decided to buy it for the trip. What a disappointment! Six people sat in the dark, next to a small campfire, under the stars, out in the middle of the woods, and were not scared IN THE LEAST! Save your money for The Stand.
