Summary: Highly Recommended!
Review: "Night Over Water" was a highly enjoyable read. Eventhough the book starts out slow and uneventful, Ken Follett does an exceptional job developing the characters. I rated this book a 4 (which should be 4 1/2) because for the first half of the book I found it hard to concentrate and stay entertained. Follett jumps from one character to another explaining their life history and how they have ended up on the plane. Once the plane takes off, the story really begins to soar. Much to my surprise, the author also incorporates a series of romantic adventures. This was the first Ken Follett book I've read and it will definitely not be the last!

Summary: Excellent!!
Review: An excellent novel. Follett once again combines history with suspense, love, sex, and treachery. He has a way of getting into each character and developing truly believable people and situations. In the end, you are glad that you read the book and you feel that you were there!

Summary: Aviation Hit
Review: Author or Under the Lontar Palm ISBN: 1588510980
Night Over Water is an aviation fiction buff's dream. If you like learning about how old planes flew and how WWII era people acted, this is the book. Very eye opening, historical and fun. Great work!

Summary: If you've read a Follet you know what happens here.
Review: By some strange reason, I went on a odd diet of four Follet books in a row:"Pillars of the Earth","The Third Twin","The man from St. Petersburg" and "Night over water". The reason for this is probably because my daily commute allows lots of time for reading and as an adlolescent I enjoyed "Eye of the Needle". Suffice it to say that it will be some time before I read a Ken Follet book again. Four in a row, is more than enough to recognize the Ken Follet recipe for a best-seller and it is more than enough fluff to realize that my brain may suffer from some sort of "inteligence" decay. So, may I reccomend this book to all who are seeking a nice mindless trip into fantasy land, where little is required of you and you are under no threat of learning anything. This, and the rest of the books mentioned are the perfect vacation novels. Enjoy, no thinking required!

Summary: Didn't Take Flight For Me.
Review: Follett does his usual excellent job of researching his subject matter--in this case old passenger seaplanes--and the history of the era (a world spinning toward war in the late 1930s). And the writing style is fine, but the story just never got off the ground. I never quite got the point. It was as if he worked hard to invent characters and plot around a subject he wanted to write about: seaplanes. The whole thing seemed like a stretch. Think of it as "Airport 1938."

To Follett's credit he wrote in Night Over Water perhaps the steamiest sex scene I've ever read. I almost tried waking up the wife (dangerous). Plus I read this book after being completely blown away by his Pillars Of The Earth, so a let-down was inevitable. The book is better than most and probably deserves four stars. --Christopher Bonn Jonnes, author of Wake Up Dead

Summary: A great adventure
Review: Follett has a wonderful story-telling style, and a tremendous ability to create a picture in the mind. Anyone would find this story riveting, and fans of historical novels (particularly WWII genre) will particularly enjoy this book. My only criticism is, while I am not a prude, the book has more than its share of gratuitous sex scenes. That having been said, I have not been disappointed in a Follett novel yet. This book gives one a new appreciation for the early pioneers of trans-atlantic travel.

Summary: Exciting and fun!
Review: I almost passed up this book because I don't really care for WWII novels. I'm so glad that I didn't! It was a wonderful story that I devoured in a day. Not deep like Pillars of the Earth, nor complex like The Third Twin, Night Over Water was just a good, fun read!

Summary: One of the best of its genre!
Review: I could not put this book down and just spent a very pleasant July 4th weekend reading it. Follet is an excellent storyteller, making this more than just another spy novel.

The glamorous setting of the Pan Am clipper in 1939 is illustrated with vivid description- allowing the reader to truly feel the plane. Follett creates an ensemble plot with diverse characters with interesting backgrounds and now intersecting lives.

This novel is very well written with lots of twists, great dialogue. I didn't want it to end and recommend it highly!
