Summary: The Killing Game - A Killer of a Mystery!
Review: An avid reader of mystery novels, I had never read Iris Johansen, even though she is from a town in Georgia not far from where I live. I had thought she wrote only love stories. But, wow, this woman can write a mystery. I read this novel in two sittings because I couldn't put it down! It moves quickly and has a surprising ending! Don't miss it!

Summary: The best of Iris Johansen
Review: This was definitely her best work. Yes, even better than THE UGLY DUCKLING! I know I'm surprised, too. I think the reason I liked this one more was because it was more of a group thing, it was just one sole killer, unlike THE UGLY DUCKLING and AND THEN YOU DIE which had a bunch of bad guys. THE KILLING GAME had many twists in it. Eve Duncan was a wonderful character, and I also liked Sarah, who I understand is in her new novel, THE SEARCH. This one also has a surprise finale, with (obviosly) the revealing of the killer, 'Dom'. I'm sure you'll be as surprised as I was. Please write more books Miss Johansen :)

Summary: Up all night
Review: This must be one of the most maniacal serial killers in books today. Iris Johansen made me feel as though I was there with her, feeling the pain of the characters and wanting to protect them as much as the writer wanted to. Being an author myself, I appreciate this type of writing. I'm working on several books, and one of them happens to be about a serial killer, but whereas Ms. Johansen's killer killed for the pleasure of it, mine has justification in what they do. I would highly recommend The Killing Game to anyone who enjoys a thorough technical novel about murder and the inner mind of a killer.

Summary: The Killing Game
Review: Wow! I was more intrigued with every page! Kudos to Ms. Johansen on yet another masterpiece! The pain and sorrow that comes through the character Eve Duncan from the loss of her daughter and never being able to find her remains was almost unbearable until I remembered the fact that "they are not real people". Her struggle with her emotions with her old and dear friend Joe Quinn is fabulous. I've been rooting for these 2 for a while and could feel their sizzle leap off the page. Finally! Her connections with the character's is amazing! I'm counting the days until "The Search" is in the mail!

Summary: The Serial Killer's Character is worth the read...
Review: I'm not much of a writer myself, so I'll be brief--

In a nutshell, the serial killer's character was outstanding!

Unfortunately the irritating part of the story was having to "listen" to the two men compete over poor, tortured, "tough-as-nails" Eve. I was so sick of their comments, and Eve's repeated defense of one to the other, that I ALMOST wanted to skip those paragraphs...the only reason I didn't is because I didn't want to miss even the smallest morsel of info regarding the killer!

Summary: Once Again, Another Masterpiece
Review: I am amazed with "The Killing Game." Once again Johansen has outdone herself. The details in the book were very vivid, and it catches you from the start. All her characters had wonderful feelings, although the demeanor of Joe being obsessed didn't seem normal for him. Still a great turn out and I loved the dog. She did great on the animal feelings and I can't wait for her new one to come out.

Summary: Gripping story, fabulous plot.
Review: I have never read a book by Iris Johansen until now. However, upon completing this book I can't wait to get a hold of another of her works. This is one of the best books I have ever read. Eve catches your interest within the first few pages. Her affiliation with all the other characters i.e. Sarah, Monty (dog), Jane, and the rest is intertwined wisely without losing your interest. This book is extremly captivating and keeps you guessing throughout. I was extremely surprised at the outcome. The killer turned out to be a true surprise. This is odd for me as I can usually spot the plot a mile away. What a pleasant surprise to just grab a book off the counter at the grocery store and find it to be one of the best reads I have ever had.

Summary: The Killing Game
Review: This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I hated to put it down for even a second, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I have trouble finding books to hold my interest, but this one reached right out and grabbed it and held on all the way to the end. I would recommend The Killing Game to anyone who loves a good suspense.

Summary: The Game Continues
Review: The Game Continues (5 stars

Admittedly, I was a littleconcerned when I first started "The Killing Game"; within thefirst half of the book, I was unsure if I wanted to finish it. Following the discovery of an aged mass grave in Talladega, Alabama, which includes the bones of a child, Eve, who was asked to reconstruct the skull of the child victim, is contacted by the man claiming responsibility, who calls himself Dom. Dom calls her repeatedly, tormenting and taunting her, claiming that (in addition to the Talladega murders) he had also killed Eve's daughter, Bonnie. He threatens that another child, named Jane, will die in homage to Bonnie, as will Eve in an effort to save Jane. The intensity of Dom's taunting of Eve to this point was painful; I was hesitant to explore the extent to which he would use Bonnie's memory to manipulate and exploit Eve's vulnerability and fragility, but I kept going....

Eve must find and protect Jane, a street urchin who is as tough as she and nearly as closed-off from affection and love. Accompanied by her stalwart friend, Joe Quinn (and with the distant assistance of John Logan from "The Face of Deception"), Eve rescues Jane and begins following the game-board created by Dom, in order to save them all and to learn to live again.

Johansen has found a winning formula with Eve Duncan. Fans of the series will love this latest installment; new readers may want to look to her earlier stories on Eve Duncan, as "The Killing Game" doesn't offer much history, which is so critical to Eve now. I took to the series initially finding the details of forensic sculpting intriguing, but with each improving novel, I care more about Eve Duncan and her happiness. This work relied less on the nature of her occupation, focusing more on her motivations and how her past has shaped her present. I too want Eve to bring Bonnie home (or otherwise find some peace with it) and to open herself to love and affection. "The Killing Game", beyond its darkness, casts promising light on her future. Bonnie approves. END

Summary: Very Good Read
Review: This was my first Johansen book. There were more things I liked about it than disliked. However, you can tell it was written by a romance author. If the romance and tug-of-war between the lead character and her boyfriends was edited out you would have an even better story. At first, it wasn't such a bother, but after a few chapters it becomes more and more a part of the story and bogs things down. One finds oneself skimming over the romantic/dramatic soppy parts hoping to find more mystery.

Yet, I still enjoyed it. Stayed up all night to finish it. The characters were fun, beleivable, and a few were endearing. I enjoyed the ghost scenes with Bonnie because they were direct, to the point, and not too long. They were emotional, yet didn't seem silly like the romance parts. And, of course, my favorite character was the dog Monty. I would like to read more about Eve and her mystery solving career without the romance.
