Summary: A Total Crack-up
Review: After moping around the house sick during the long-awaited 4-day weekend, I decided to get myself some reading to lift my depressed spirits. This book is just what the doctor ordered. "Bridget" is a very quick read; you can polish it off in a day easily and you'll be laughing out loud the entire time. I kept expecting the neighbors to drop by and say "What are you doing in there?!"

Sadly, this book rings true for too many females, regardless of age or nationality. Discontentment with work, men, body image, and family are obviously universal. Misery loves company and "Bridget" proves it. Nothing lifts the spirits like realizing that you're no more (or less) neurotic than most everyone else. "The therapeutic value of a [reality check] is without parallel." Buy this book!

Summary: Are you single?
Review: If you enjoy Sex in the City and you are single, you will love this book. It's a riot! Sure, there are a few things that Bridget does I truly don't think anyone has done, but I took them in stride. This book is meant to be light-hearted and funny and it passes with flying colors.

Why not 5 stars? Well, I'm married now and my perspective on life has changed. I don't think I would have enjoyed this book half as much as I did when I read it as a 'singleton'.

P.S. The book was MUCH better then the movie. I saw it on DVD recently and was disappointed.

Summary: Simply Awesome!!
Review: This was the first "Girl book" I'd ever read -- one that takes being in your 30s (and single) & turns it funny! I saw so many similarities between the "singletons" and the "smug marrieds" that I know in my life. I would recommend this book to any single female (and a few married ones too)!

Summary: Wet Your Pants Funny
Review: This book is funny, funny, funny! Also entertaining, touching, and very well written. Do not pay attention to Amazon reviewers who critiqued Bridget for not being British enough (much of the British slang, dates, etc. were changed for American publication) or for being an update of Pride and Prejudice (it is an obvious theme of the book and meant to be noticed-I mean come on, his name is Mark DARCY). You root for Bridget from the start because she is like us. She is a disaster, but it is reassuring to know that there are other women out there who do not have it all together. Loved it! Read this book...

Summary: wow
Review: the brigdet jones's diary is so funny! It's really entertaining and Brigdet is such a mess. Every woman will identify with her at some point of her life (love life, cooking, work...). You will laugh out loud while reading her opinions on men, life, money, etc.,(based on every self-help book she has ever read), or about her family, and her mother's "affair".
I recommend it to every woman on earth, married, single, divorcee... But what's most amazing is that vol.2 is even better & a lot funnier! READ'EM

Summary: Not a fan of this one
Review: Fortunately I didn't have to spend money or time on this book. A friend lent me the "book on CD" so I'd have something to do while driving my daughter, age 14, to a volleyball tournament. Both my daughter & I listened to the book and both of us found it tedious and not even vaguely representative of the female psyche, certainly not ours. If there's an interest in delving into the psyche of an extremely shallow and self-absorbed young woman, and it appears there is, then this is the book for them. Funny, I did not find it.

Summary: What a fun book!
Review: What a fun book! I rented the movie about five months ago and when I heard there was a book, I picked it up right away. I'm actually glad I saw the movie first because the book was much better. (It usually is) This is the kind of book you read when you're looking for something that is light and funny and can be finished off in an afternoon. It's definately a 'girlie' book and I highly recommend it.

Summary: Light read but do not expect too much humor
Review: Yes, I liked the book. I was expecting it to be really humorous, but it really wasn't a laugh out loud book. It is a light read and one can get through it quickly. I didn't dislike the book, but I was expecting more. It is well worth reading and I found it entertaining.

Summary: I'm sorry, I just don't think it's funny.
Review: Bridget is a thirty-year-old woman searching for "Mr. Right." She is infatuated with her boss Daniel, but his attention is not necessarily focused on Bridget. Months of in and out lead into one long, drawn-out account of the boredom of being a "singleton." The grammar and arrangement is atrocious and unappealing. The book is written like a very long to-do list. It includes nothing in the present tense, and as we all know, inactive verbs make a really boring read!

"Bridget" manages not only to be annoyingly British, but also obviously not British at all. The dates on her entry are American dates (mm/dd/yy) and opposed to the proper European way (dd/mm/yy). Her spellings are American but her slang is British.

It's just plain confusing and not worth the waste of time it takes to finish. Get "Confessions of a Shop-A-Holic" or "Shop-A-Holic Take Manhattan" by Sophie Kinsella for a more unique, honest and funny portrayal of single British women.

Summary: Great read...
Review: I thought this book was great! It was a quick read and very entertaining. There were time when I felt sorry for Bridget and other times I wanted to slap some sense into her!! ...
