Rating: Summary: INTERESTING, PROVOCATIVE, AND ENTERTAINING... Review: Having seen Sylvia Browne on the Montel Williams show, I was certainly captivated by her psychic ability, as she seemed to be so on the money with her revelations about some of Montel's guests. I purchased this book in hope of finding out more about this intriguing woman, who certainly seemed to be blessed with a remarkable psychic gift. The book is informative and highly entertaining, as Sylvia relates her life story, and the reader discovers how she evolved to be the person she is today. She tells the reader of her dysfunctional family and suggests that her gift is a hereditary one. She describes her psychic gift in detail and informs the reader of the use to which she has put her ability. Her journey in life has, thus far, been a fascinating and unusual one. She also gives the reader her vision of what lies ahead for each and every one of us, after we have moved on from this earhly plane. While one cannot be sure whether she is right or wrong, it still makes for some thought provoking and interesting reading. She believes death to be one's reward for living. This is certainly philosophically in keeping with her vision of what lies ahead for each of us, after death. The book, written in a warm, breezy, conversational tone, is very reflective of Sylvia's actual cadence and personality. Whether or not one is a believer is irrelevant to the enjoyment that one will derive from reading this book. Keep an open mind!

I found her LAB exercise to be an invaluable tool for self-help. Highly recommended for anyone who is doing "soul-searching" work.

Rating: Summary: Psychic Review: I haven't read this book and don't really need to. I have had the destinct pleasure of knowing Ms. Browne long before she became famous. I spent time in her home and know firsthand that she is indeed carrying (I won't say a God given) but I will say a given psychic ability. During this time in my life I was not a Christian but I had a lot of questions and curiosities. So I was intrigued by her. I am now a strong believer in God, Christ and heaven. And as much as I believe in the existence of God and goodness, I also believe in the existence of evil. I don't believe that evil shows its face by hitting you over the head (you know that head spinning, earth opening up, Hollywood version of evil) but works its way slowly and convincingly into your soul. Even way back then, when I stood in her house, I knew there was something innately wrong at the root of the soul of this woman. She preaches about God and heaven, but you would have to be absolutely blind not to see that she worships only one God, and that God is the almighty dollar. You can continue to contribute to her empire and to her "church", but I can honestly tell you that all she charges you for already exists in your heart. --This text refers to the Audio Cassette edition.
Rating: Summary: A very enthralling book! Review: I have read all of Sylvia Browne's books and feel so at peace with myself and all the questions I've always had. This book is one of my favorites. A lot of things that use to confuse me now seem so clear, and has helped to give me a stronger desire to learn more about the " Other Side ". I now know that God is what I alway's thought he was, a good, loving and understanding God, not a vengeful and angry God that people use his name to project. Sylvia says she doesn't believe something until she see's it-maybe if some skeptic's opened their eye's, they could see all the beauty and knowledge she shares with us.
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: This life story is truly awesome, with bazarr information, and out of the ordinary occurances that have happened to this women in the past. Sylvia explains, and educates the public with her childhood imagery, and problems/mishaps which occured while growing up.... Truly fascinating, this book is, that I must say Sylvia is an inspiration... Thank you Sylvia.
Rating: Summary: Enjoy "The Other Side and Back?" You'll Enjoy This too ! Review: After reading, enjoying and writing my review of Sylvia Browne's "The Other Side and Back" for Amazon.com, I was inspired to read this book. Her 249 page book details her interesting life and her special gift of prophecy. She describes what a psychic is, and how her life revolves around this special God given "gift." This is a gift that doesn't really make one's life easier. She tells about how her gift has helped her advise police departments searching for missing persons and criminals, and how some of her predictions helped others avoid dangerous situations. She also struggles with tragedies that she warned about, which resulted in deaths when her warnings were ignored. This book may bring comfort to believers (and some skeptics) and clarify their thinking about the present and the future. The book's 15 chapters include: A Psychic in Love, Growing Pains, Following the Blueprint, The Other Side, Haunting Expressions, Why Am I Here, Medicine and the Medium, and more. It's a very interesting read, and you might find yourself going back and reading some sections again in the future. It is thought provoking, even if you're a non-believer. The work may even make a believer of you! Whether or not you believe in psychics, knowledge is power, and you can only gain with this knowledge. Worth reading. I found it well worth the $ 10.36 price.
Rating: Summary: Change your life forever! Review: I can put many books under the "life changing" category, but anything by Sylvia Browne should be a must read for anyone who breathes. This was the first of her books that I read and I loved it. In particular, I loved the chapter on "The Other Side." I read this chapter over and over, so one can imagine the excitement I felt when Sylvia came out with a whole book on the subject. Please, do yourself a favor and read ALL of her books, but start with this one.
Rating: Summary: Not for the skeptic... Review: I found it to be a very entertaining book. As an open-minded skeptic myself what I found most interesting was getting inside the mind of someone who's life is based on religious belief. The episodes of her life described were truly amazing and up to a point it made me really question the "paranormal". However I couldn't feel but a bit of apprehension caused by the clear personal bias of the author. She never ONCE mentions a case of her psychic failure. (she does mention that she is human and she makes mistakes with her gift...but no example of her mistakes are given) Also, it would be nice if she gave someone concise sources of documentation, more so than just her word. Even though I am much more open to "psychic" powers and other unexplicable events, I found it very difficult to absorb some of her teachings are "absolute truths" with no proof. However, if the books purpose is to give people hope, then by reading the other reviews, I can say the book serves it's purpose.
Rating: Summary: UNCANNY Review: Sylvia Browne is ONE of the few that will make anyone a true believer of the paranormal! A must read for any sceptic! from alterego in Tulsa OK.
