Rating: Summary: Best StarWars book there is. Review: Especially good if you've played X-wing.
Rating: Summary: Good....Very Good. Review: This book was very good, but there were two things. If you don't know ANYTHING about an X-wing, the battles will be most confusing. Second, it was just plain BORING!!!!! When there was action, It was very griping and had the "what's gonna happen next??" type of thing. I liked the assault of stormtroopers on Talsea.Overall, good book.
Rating: Summary: Stackpole's first book an entertaining success! Review: After reading novels by Stackpole, all others seem dim in comparison. Stackpole describes each situation and feeling with one word instead of going into the drawn-out, boring paragraph or two that it takes other authors who obviously don't have as broad a vocabulary. New characters give Stackpole room to elaborate on personalities without repeating the same junk most SW fans hear every time we pick up a new book- Leia is diplomatic, Han likes to solve things with a blaster instead, Luke is a solemn Jedi Master- unlike when he was younger and was a hotshot pilot. DUH! Great new material and a welcome change we all needed.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK, BEST I'VE READ Review: This book was excellent, and ive read it cover to cover 6 times!!! I thought that some parts in it were a little confusing at first though, but it is still one of the best Star Wars books ive read!
Rating: Summary: GOOD BUT NO HEIR TO THE EMPIRE.... Review: I enjoyed Michael Stackpole Rogue series to the point of infatuation! But his killing of characters and bringing them back was tiresome. Although Rogoue Squadron is an elite group of warriors, having them pitched against an entire Empire was a bit far fetched. But all in all some good bedtime reading for any Star Wars fan out there.
Rating: Summary: Wow, this was great-but I wish Lujayne Forge hadn't died... Review: I have to say-all of the x-wing books are great. Basically, Rogue Squadron is a new group of rough-edged, daring young pilots who fly against the Empire in dangerous missions to bring freedom to the galaxy-or at least a couple of systems. Some of the pilots die-unfortunately, Lujayne Forge, my favourite character from the book and the pilot who kept the group together, dies early on in the book when the base is invaded by stormtroopers and she is murdered in her sleep...sigh...but anyhow, the x-wing novels are crammed w/ action, thrill, and exicitement-you'd better read it before that stormtrooper behind you shoots...
Rating: Summary: Not consistent with the other three Review: I really liked the last three books of the X-Wing series, which dealt with the overall destruction of Ysanne Isard, but the first book was really sort of detached from all that and dealt with a completely different thing.
Rating: Summary: Action packed, but confusing Review: I began to read the X-Wing series because I am a Star Wars nut, but most of the time I didn't understand what was going on. I didn't know what many of the words meant,(Like "klicks"), but I'm glad I kept reading because the rest of the books are really good!
Rating: Summary: You get inside view of the relationships in Rogue Squadron!! Review: Rogue Squadron to me was mediocore in action. You had your space fights , but it wasn't as detailed and action packed as the Han Solo Trilogy by A.C. Crispin. You never really heard about the kills Wedge had, and usaully some of the rogues didn't have any or too little ex:4 kills. The book however does give you an idea of what Rogue Squadron does when they're not in the space fighting TIE's.I liked how Michael got into relatinships between those inthe Sqaudron. It was also interesting how he described the selection process and simulator practices. This book wasn't no Super Weapon threatining to destroy billions of lives, which in a way is a good change. However Isard could have been more in the story. I hope her character develops in the rest of the series. This book also wasn't the type where all the good guys survive people in the squadron did suffering some lethal blows. I hope in Wedge's Gamble Stackpole gets more into Wedge and the empire's strategy to destroy! Rogue Sqaudron and the New Republic.
Rating: Summary: Magnificent book telling tales of the new Rogue Squadron Review: This was an a amazing book that took me through the thrills and chills of being a pilot in the rogue squadron. This is the first book i have read in the series and definitly won't be the last, but I don't know how the other books in the series could compare. This is a book that should be read by all. Michael A. Stackpole has created a masterpiece and belongs with the other great writers in star wars history.
