Summary: Finally someone approaching Trevanian-Shibumi !!!
Review: The Good Lord has answered my prayers! Upon reading this very engrossing novel - The Kill Artist, I thought that I would never really find another author who could grip you in plots, twists and turns, killing methods, politics, love, human interplay, and then wrap it ALL in modern situations complete with political over and undertones..... BRAVO! MORE!!!! I look at my Jewish Brothers and Sisters in a different light after this novel!
ENCORE MORE BRAVO!!!!

Summary: Slow Motion Plot With Decent Twists
Review: The Kill Artist is a mixed bag that is worth a look, at least as a paperback, depending on the reader's patience. This is the fourth Silva novel I've read. He continues to portray colorful settings and develop rich/complex characters. I also enjoy the links he established between the four books. Over time I forsee the 'six degrees of Daniel Silva.' While his plot twists leave nothing for granted, you must wait a very long time between key movements in the story. I found it disturbing and put the book down a few days. The main character restores artwork with extraordinary patience. As reader of this yarn, you need to have the same trait.

Summary: All Is Not As It Seems
Review: The Kill Artist is a very good thriller with a captivating plot that effectively illustrates the deceptions necessary for both successful espionage and exciting and suspenseful spy novels. The beginning of the book lays important groundwork for the operation to come later. Gabriel Allon, an art restorer, is persuaded to find and kill Tariq, a Palestinian terrorist/assassin before he kills Yasir Arafat, a key player in the Middle East peace talks.

However, just as Gabriel learned a valuable lesson from restoration of a scene in a Van Dyck, the reader should also remember that what appears on the surface is quite different from "what is taking place just below". Gabriel has discovered a completely finished portrait of a woman underneath Van Dyck's painting of the Assumption the Virgin Mary. Gabriel investigated and learned the story behind the portrait and that all is not what it seems.

Silva masterfully leads the reader through the deceptions and to the story "taking place just below" and it too is not all that it seems. The Kill Artist is highly recommended and proof that Silva is an author worth reading.

Summary: A Rollercoaster, in two diffeerent ways...
Review: This book is truly a rollercoaster!! The plot similar to the popular amusent park thrill ride because it keeps you on the edge of your seat through an array of dips and turns. Unfortunately, the writing style is also rollercoaster-esque. When Silva is on his game, the writing is brilliant: smooth, hilarious, and affecting. When he isn't (which seems all too often during the middle chapters), the writing is choppy and predictable. I'm a humongous Silva fan though, believe me! His plots have always been easy to follow and The Kill Artist is no different (Definitely a plus!). Hopefully, Silva will keep producing easy-to-follow thriller novels but will keep the rollercoasting to simply the plot, not the writing style as well!!

Summary: Superb spy thriller
Review: This gripping novel revolves around Gabriel Allon, presently one of the world's most accomplished art restorers. Allon had previously used art restoration as a cover for his exploits as the top notch secret agent for the Office, a Mossad-like organization of Israeli intelligence. He has retired from this service a consequence of the killing of his son and the maiming of his wife in a car bombing.

Ari Shamron, head of Israeli intelligence, coaxes Allon out of retirement with an assignment to kill super Palestinian terrorist Tariq al-Hourani, the man responsible for destruction of his family. Tariq has planned to disrupt the ongoing peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. Along the way Tariq kills the Israeli ambassador to France and other prominent Israeli citizens living in Europe. Allon using other agents, including gorgeous French model Jacqueline Delacroix, who has fallen in love with Allon on a previous assignment, plans a trap for Tariq. Little does Allon know but the cunning Tariq is dying from a brain tumor and wants to go out in a blaze of glory.

Silva does a terrific job in moving the story along and psychologically profiling both the reluctant hero Allon and the devious villain Tariq. I'm anxiously looking forward to my next Silva book

Yasir Arafat. Tariq's goal is to assassinate Arafat thereby
stopping the peace process.Shamron and Allon want to kill Tariq.
You have action in Paris,London, Montreal, and New York. An
outstanding read that you will enjoy. Buy it.

Summary: Robert Ludlum Meets John Le Carre
Review: This is my first Silva book. It won't be my last. Within the first twenty pages I was caught in Silva's deceptively easygoing rhythm of writing. With thinly sliced scenes and sparsely evocative description, I soon felt I knew the people and places of which he writes.

"The Kill Artist" refers to Gabriel Allon, a former Israeli agent who has retreated to his world of art restoration. He is drawn back into service to track down a Palestinian terrorist named Tariq. With the help of a French/Jewish model and a handful of others, Gabriel must not only outwit his opponent, he must also battle his own guilt and demons of the past. With memorable characters such as Shamron, the Israeli secret service head, and Isherwood, the beleagured art collector, Silva draws us into a world of suspense and emotion. The motivations of Gabriel, "The Kill Artist," are believable. As are those of Tariq, the terrorist. The showdown between the two is worth every page.

I've long been a Ludlum and Le Carre fan. Where Ludlum seems melodramatic and over-the-top, where Le Carre seems cryptic and obtuse, Silva manages to mix tight plotting and action with thoughtful insights and characterisations. I couldn't have found a better new author. I've already purchased two of his other books.

Summary: Thriller of the year!
Review: This is the best book I have read in years! I was up all night reading it, couldnt put it down. Fabulous characters and great plot with shocking twists! Silva has created another fun, entertaining book. Keep them coming!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Thrilling
Review: This latest installment from Silva is his best. I read it over the course of 2 days, and if you are a Ludlum fan, you'll love this book. The present context in which this book takes place is strikingly fitting, and the depth to which Silva researched before writing this book is very apparent. This book gives a somewhat accurate account of the Israeli secret service, and provides accounts of stories that have been told be real-world defectors. If one is looking for an ultra-fast read, this is your book.

Summary: The Kill Artist
Review: This was a very entertaining novel. The characters were interesting, and the twists keep you wondering what next. Gabriel Allon is the quintessential "good" guy. A definitely good read.
