Summary: A great view of history from a girl's perspective.
Review: This book does an excellent job of giving us a "peek" at the past. It is nice to know that some pioneer families had good relations with the native people and worked to overcome stereotypes (ethnic and gender) even that long ago. Because that area of Wisconsin has not seen growth it is still possible to walk to the edge of the river where so many of the stories took place. The teacher was my great-grandmother so I have a personal interest in the stories. Don't forget to read the second book- MAGICAL MELONS

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A wonderful book for all ages
Review: I liked this book alot because it was a whole different view from pioneer life. I got tired of cooking and sewing because that got boring to me. Caddie Woodlawn did things that other girls did not even dream about doing, and that is good! I liked the story and I reccomend it for all ages, no matter what the ages on your book say. It is a wonderful book and I hope you will read it.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I really enjoyed reading the book, Caddie Woodlawn.
Review: Caddie Woodlawn is a book about a girl whose family are pioneers that live in Wisconsin, in the 1860's. Caddie, the main character is a tomboy. She plays with her two brothers. Instead of sewing, cooking, and cleaning, she plays, plows, and does unladylike stuff. Caddie and her family have to get through hard times, and have to make important decisions.

I think that this book has interesting characters. Caddie is a very adventurous girl, and likes to do things that only boys were supposed to do. Her family seems like a normal family.

I like how this book had a series of different events that happen, such as a fire, pranks played on a cousin from the city, a big decision about whether to stay in Wisconsin or go to England, and more.

Another reason I like this book is that it is funny and serious. Personally I like books with those qualities. I thought the author put a lot of good details, but not too many details, that would make the book longer, with useless information. The book Caddie Woodlawn got a Newberry Award, and I think this book really deserves it.

Summary: An action packed story for everyone!
Review: Caddie Woodlawn is a fun and exciting story about an adventurous young girl during the pioneer days. Caddie is a very mischevious, at times and is often seen as a tomboy. As a young girl, her family had moved from Boston to Wisconsin, and she was very sick at the time. Her father had asked to "try an experiment" with Caddie and let her run wild with her brothers. His "experiment" worked and she quickly gained her health back.

Although Caddie is a girl, that does not stop her from going on many adventures with her two brothers. Throughout the story, their adventures keep the readers interested, and if you read closely enough, you can almost feel that you are inside the story watching them.

I truly enjoyed this book. It was very humourous, exciting, interesting, and yet it seemed quite lifelike. This story does a very good job showing its readers how life may have been like during those times, since it was based on the story of the writer's grandmother. Overall, I think the book is a very easy-to-read story and is suitable for readers of all ages.

Summary: CW was one of MY FAV. and if you READ IT,you'll love it too!
Review: This book was great. It told the story of how a tomboy in the mid-1800's was forced to live. But the tomboy Caddie, didn't want to live that way. She would rather plow then sew and rather hunt than cook. This told Caddies story of her life growing up and wanting to be what she wanted to be. This was one of my favorite books and if you read it, it will be your favorite too. So don't wait, buy or borrow the book today so you can enjoy it too!

Summary: Historical fiction about a tomboy.
Review: I liked this book, but some of the scenes dragged on. The author (Carol Ryrie Brink) could have added more action and humor in it.

Summary: there's a little Caddie in us all
Review: As a child, I searched the shelves over for a book that would make me feel normal. There aren't many books that can capture the attention of a tree-climbing, river-splashing girl of seven with perpetually scraped up knees. Then Caddie came along, and she has remained with me to this day. I felt like I had a friend. The fact that Caddie's spunk and spirit were universal enough to surpass all time and regions to capture my heart, made this book my favorite. This is the little girl's answer to Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. However, I think boys can become just as enraptured with this tale's feelings and experiences through the point of view of Caddie's brothers, Tom and Warren. This is the perfect book to be read aloud and shared with families of all kinds. The human struggle of growth and the human longing for adventure are both celebrated beautifully through the life of Caddie Wooodlawn. You won't soon forget her!
