Summary: a GREAT book about adventure and pioneer life
Review: This is an excellent book. It is full of adventures and exiting stories about a tomgirl named Caddie Woodlawn. She loved to play with her two brothers, Tom and Warren, but hated being a lady, like her sisters. But then her cousin Annabelle comes, and Caddie and her brothers deside to play some practicle jokes on Annabelle. Now her mother and father want her to try to be a lady. What will Caddie do?

Summary: Caddie Woodlawn
Review: Caddie Woodlawn was a well writen book. It takes you back through pioner days. This book starts out slow, but picks up the pace when her jokester uncle Edmund comes to spend some nights over or when Caddies perfect cousin Annabell comes over. Caddie Woodlawn will tell you about the life of a 11 year old girl who loves to play around in the dirt with her 2 brothers. This book will also make you laugh at the praticle jokes Caddie and her brothers play on their family members. Over all I thought it was a o.k book and it had its moments. My personal opinion of the book was that I thought it could have been better, but then again I don't really care for pionere books. If you likes the series "Little house on the Prarie" you will like this.

Review: This is a book about a girl named Caddie. They live in the 1860's and on the Wisconsin frontier. The book tells Caddie's story in a gentle way.

Summary: Caddie Woodlawn
Review: This is a story about Caddie Woodlawn and her family. There is Mrs. Woodlawn, Mr. Woodlawn, Clara, Tom, Caddie, Warren, Hetty, Minnie, and Baby Joe. They also have a dog named Nero. Mr. Woodlawn, Tom, Warren, and Caddie are the adventerous people. The reason why Caddie is a tomboy is she had a sister, Mary, who died so her father wanted to experiment on Caddie. Hettie is a tattle tale. She always tells on Caddie. I think that Caddie is a spunky little girl. Nero the dog was lost. I wonder if they find Nero? I know, but that's for you to find out. I liked this story because it's almost like I'm growing up with them. So I give this book 5 * * * * * This review was written by one of my 4th grade students after reading the book in class.

Summary: Caddie Woodlawn 4th Grade Book Review
Review: Caddie Woodlawn is a tomboy. Her mother wants her to be a perfect little lady, but no cooking or cleaning for her! For this girl it's all adventures with her brothers Tom and Warren, but her little sister, Hetty, always seems to get in the way. I like this book because it makes you look at life like you never really did before. Reviewed by one of my fourth grade students,T.J. S.

Summary: Bad History
Review: Although I enjoyed this book when I was ten years old, as an adult I cannot join the praise. I bought this book to give to my niece, but after re-reading it, I will have to select a different gift. For historical accuracy, this book is almost as bad as those American Girl series books. Caddie is completely unconvincing as an 1860s frontier girl. She is really a twentieth-century girl dressed up in period costume. I am further annoyed by other historical inaccuracies. Sorry, Mr. Woodlawn, but sometimes there was trouble between white settlers and Indians, and the Indians contributed their share of the trouble. Sorry again, Mr. Woodlawn, but English aristocrats were not pro-slavery; remember, they abolished the slave trade before we abolished slavery and they balked at supporting a pro-slavery confederate government. The book abounds with other two-dimensional stereotypes, especially the frivolous, pretentious Bostonians Annabelle and Uncle Edmund. For real history, try Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books. Mrs. Wilder told the past as she remembered it, with all its complexities and ambiguities.
