Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: This book was excellent I couldn't put it down read through it in one day and enjoied it a great deal. I like learning about Anakin and the trials of a Padawan. Very good book.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book-ObiWan Fans Read! Anakin fans too! Review: This was a great book! I love Obi Wan, and it lets you get abit deeper into him and his thoughts. The world introduced is reallycool too, and you get a better look into Anakin's powers, Anakin and Obi's relationship, and Jedi. It's a bit of a mystery as you unravel things, and definitely keeps you reading! I read the whole thing in two days! Awesome book, all star wars fans read! And fellow Boba Fett fans, read 'The Bounty Hunter Wars' Trilogy by K W Jeter, also an awesome book! Love Obi Wan and Boba Fett!
Rating: Summary: Fun to read Review: I loved to read this book, to put it bluntly. Though at times the book seemed to drag on, I still enjoyed it. You get a look into the past as you meet up with Tarkin, which I thought was pretty cool. Though I must admit, Seinar got on my nerves a bit. I thought that the way the author goes back and forth between points of views for every chapter, was just plain annoying. Yes, you do know what is going on with each character constantly, but sometimes, I just didn't care. I myself, am a huge Obi-Wan fan, and the book disappointed me there. This is mainly Anakin's book. And also, there is not a lot of lightsaber action, so don't expect to have a huge fight. Also, you get to see a different side of Mace Windu. Who would think that the guy has a sense of humor? However, the author makes you feel like you are there and he does an excellent job of describing all of the events. But sometimes I must admit that I got a bit lost. Anyway, I still loved the book and it kept me entertained. I would definetly recommend this book for every die-hard Star Wars fan. I think that even those who only like Star Wars would enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: I Loved It! Review: This book was excellent. I read it immediately (and got it taken away) but it was great! I wondered what the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin would be like, now I know. Agreeing with another reviewer, this book didn't have any lightsabers, to speak of. But it was deffinately suspenseful and full of intrigue. And while it wasn't as good as the Jedi Apprentice Series, it was fun to read. I'm glad the long wait wasn't disappointing. Of course, you don't have to take my word for it. Go read it yourself. This book is deffinately for any serious Star Wars fan. And I think a casual reader would enjoy it as well. Anakin is sooo crazy! May the force be with you
Rating: Summary: O.K but could have been better Review: I thought this book was O.K with some good scenes The begining Garbage pit scene the scenes between Seinar and Tarkind and Obi-wan and Anakin but apart from that the book had no action and did not really go any where. I was just turning the pages waiting for somthing to happen but nothing ever did and the charachters veered of the general plot piont of loking for a missing Jedi to build a living space ship. Overall the book needed some action scenes and and bit more faster pace other wise it was o.k. Thought it was more a science fiction book than a Stawars book.
Rating: Summary: The heart of Star Wars Review: Finally, a Star Wars novel that is not at a break-neck pace, with no supervillains of superweapons, and in which the fate of the entire galaxy does not hang in the balance (at least not in any way to be resolved in one simple battle.) While I enjoy the action elements of Star Wars, what has always appealed to me most was the characters and the themes, which have been sadly underdeveloped in most of the Star Wars books before. But Greg Bear has exquisitely captured the developing characters of Obi-Wan and Anakin. I relished the slow pace which gives us an opportunity to focus on their special relationship (especially considering how little time they actually spend together in Phantom Menace), and the hints of WHAT IS TO COME, handled so deliciously well. (That particular scene was so well done, I had to put the book down and work off the tension. If you've read the book, you know which scene I mean.) I have also really enjoyed seeing the development of the Master-Apprentice relationship, both in this book, as well as the excellent Jedi Apprentice series by Jude Watson. This book is far more subtle and profound than any other SW book so far, and I hope that there will be more like it. Let's put the heart back in Star Wars! P.S. Can we have a book that focuses on Amidala! How come Anakin gets all the press?
Rating: Summary: Boring... Review: Well the long waited book came. I was disappointed to say the least. I found the characters and story line to be rather unusual and strange. Strange or sort of dingy... nothing like a follow-up to the first episode. The characters were hard to believe. I even felt the idea of a space ship that was alive, a living creature, was far fetched. The bonding with spine balls reminded me more of my sweet gum tree than a "space creature". Sorry but I feel even the 2 star was not what I would give it. shakey@atei.net
Rating: Summary: Rouge Planet Review: Star Wars Episode 1 Rouge Planet was a delighfull read. The book gave a very good update on what was going on, and answerd many questions about the movie. I highly recommend this book to anyone who saw and liked the first movie. May the Force be with the Reader
Rating: Summary: bring back the Vong! Review: After the edge of your seat suspense with Onslaught, reading this one was a bit of a low. Good points. It showed us Anakin's anger and what is about to come, As well good insight to the emotions and feelings of this dark lord to be. * Liked the introduction of the young Tarkin. We see why he rises so fast in the Empire. Bad points. * Too fantastic for my taste. While we get a hint of early dipictions of the Vong, the whole planet was just a tad too weird even for Star Wars. Too much fantasy and not enough Sci fi. * Waht was the point of Raith Seinar? He really didn't do much in the end. * WHERE IS THE ACTION! This is a Star Wars book after all. I bought the CD version which claimed to be abridged but I actually fell asleep by the third CD and only got interested by the end of the fourth CD. Next time make Anakin's little jonts through a world less stretched out. Audio Good reading by the narrator though he could have used a bit more variety in doing some of the voices. If you are a Star Wars devoteee by all means get it, it does have its good points but its not the best in the lot.
Rating: Summary: Finally Hard-Core Sci-Fi Comes to the Star Wars Universe! Review: It's true nothing of any impact happens in this book, but that's to be expected with something that takes place in this time period. Greg Bear brings *subtle* characterization and *hard-core* science details, two things sadly lacking in other Star Wars novels. It's also refreshingly free of the Mary Sue-ism present in a few of the precious novels. Rogue Planet is true to the Star Wars universe. I'm a tremendous Star Wars fan, but please, Flanneled One, let Greg Bear help you with the script for Episode II. It can only help.
