Rating: Summary: A book you can never put down! Review: This book portals you into another world, and keeps you there. I do not read many books that I never want to let down, and this one was very difficult to let go of. The magic between the two characters is spellbinding, and everyone of the characters had an entity of their own. I loved this book and would recommend it to everyone that loves adventure, sci-fi, and chemistry between characters. The first book in a series, and it never disapointed me in the least!
Rating: Summary: I fell in love with the subject! I wish I was telekinetic! Review: This book...trapped me. I loved it. I can read it over and over. The characters have depth and color and I never got bored. The general idea of telepaths and telekinetics and their emotional reactions is amazing, in all the many sci-fi novels I have read since, I have never come across a more endearing love story. I do have to say, though that there are a number of descrepancies.(I never figured out what color one character's eyes were, it kept changing) Over all, I loved the plot and the characters. And though I had read Anne McCaffrey's Pern novels, this is the book that got me hooked on sci-fi! But, be warned...I can't read a book now without there being a raven in it. My cousin gets so mad at me because I talk about it to her incessantly. If you haven't read it, please do!
Rating: Summary: 'Path, 'Port etc. Review: This is the best book of the whole series. It gets somewhat confusing at times but otherwise it is a very good book. Rowan is the most talented Prime ever born until she gets a distress call from an unknown Talent "Deneb". She finds out later his name is Jeff Raven. When the Rowan and Jeff meet for the second time on Callisto that's where Jeran comes in. I highly recommend this book for anyone who believes in life on other planets. After reading this you must read "Damia", "Damia's Cilderen" and "Lyon's Pride"
Rating: Summary: The Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This the best Science Fiction book you will ever read. It explains in great detail the Rowan's lifestyle and
you will want to read it so much you can't put it down. I couldn't! In fact I am working on the sequel "Damia" which I
recommend also! So if you like action, adventure, Science Fiction, Kids, Cats and Telepaths read this book! It's out
of this world!!!!!
Rating: Summary: My first McCaffrey book,(I've so far read over 20!) Review: This was my first book by McCaffrey and certainly not my last. After I finished this book I went on to read the rest of the Rowan series, various novels, and finally the Pern series. This is a great introduction to her talents and you WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED!!!McCaffrey is a prolific writer as well as extremely talented.
Rating: Summary: A Rave Review: What is most attractive about this book is the character "The Rowan" herself. A charismatic person on the outside and one of the most powerful people alive, yet has a painful past and an empty lonliness that many should identify with. You'll celebrate when she meets "the One." A love story, but without those annoying Billy Crystal-ish junk; just direct and honest love. I cried. I laughed. I learned something. It's an experience, and I urge you to try it
Rating: Summary: Another great series by Anne McCaffrey Review: When I started the "Talent"-series with "The Rowan", I was rather wary to try it. I'm a great "Pern" fan and I was not shure if Anne McCaffrey could do something equal again. But I was surprised beyond my expectations. She did it again! The Rowan is an interesting character, a woman with a lot of power and a difficult youth, but still very human. As is Jeff Raven. The society based on Talents gives a great backround for the characters to act upon. It's good enough to support the whole series. So go on with "Damia" , "Damia's Children"! The only weak point are those spider-like creatures, the main enemies. They are a little to ordinary for my taste. But that does barely lessen the fun reading the book. So go on, do it
Rating: Summary: i loved this book!!!!!!! Review: when i was 11yrs my older sister went to the library and brought this back. I sneaked and read it before she could just so i could tell her the story and ruin it for her(it was kind of a game we played) I loved it so much that and when she got to read it so did she, that I got it for myself numerous times.then the sequels started to come out and that was wonderful!12 yrs and two children later I had forgotten about this book due to life...until i saw it at a resale shop for a dime.this is the first sci-fi book i have and it turned me onto sci-fi. it has romance and adventure and it gets better the more times i read it. it is a definate read and keeper so find the rest of the series and enjoy losing youself for awhile.
Rating: Summary: Wow! One of the best books I have ever read! Review: When my grandmother gave "The Rowan" to me (I love books), I turned it over and read the back. I was skeptical and not sure about it. I am not in to sci-fi but more into fantasy. I took it with me to my highschool testing and when I was done with it I took it out and started reading. When it was time to go on testing I couldn't put it down. I found the inter-space world Anne McCaffrey created had intwined me and caught me in its wondrous atmosphere. The story of a young powerful teleknetic orphan held me on the edge of my seat. The emotions and experiences of the young girl soon known as the Rowan wow'd me and made me see sci-fi in a new light. I keep it among my other favorites such as: Dragonlance series, the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Myst series. Amazing like no other book I couldn't believe how it still held my attention months later as I wondered about some of the events. The advanced world of earth and outer colonies was the future and AM had brought it to life with the powerful teleknetic minds of the FT&T it made me wish for more. The colorful worlds and wonders of the Rowan and her story is a true work of art. If you want to start a great series start reading the "Rowan" series. Truly excellents books probably Anne's best works ever.
