Summary: Excellent primer on investing for the long term.
Review: I can't recommend this book enough. It dispels the myth that you have to invest using little-understood, complicated formulas to make money in the stock market. Ninety percent of investing is really very simple... and this book explains it beautifully. If you'll just pay attention to the Gardner's simple message, you'll beat 90 percent of the "Wise" money managers. Read it and learn.

Summary: Great book to financial liberation
Review: The Gardners have the key to the wisemen's secret to investing. Want to know what it is? They tell you. The truth is that there is no secret. Investing and saving is about discipline and education. Most of the negative reviews you see on this book must come from highly commissioned brokers who are really threatened by you being educated and financially independent. The investment middleman broker or fund manager industry is set up for the most part to take, take, take, and give back some while marketing to you the message of satisfaction for the amount you get back. The Gardner's take the industry head on and get in its face. The real message of the book is to get out of debt and save. That is a message that works for everyone. Naysayers aside, this book will be a great value to the vast majority of people wanting to save and plan for the future, but just do not know where to get started. Lets face it the mystery of Wall Street is breaking down and it is a great thing. All of us will be able to use information technology and the Internet to get the same data on prospective companies for investment that the "pros" get. The pros don't like it, and it is easy to see why. They profit on our ignorance. The Gardner's go part way in this book tearing down the vaulted investment middleman industry back to a rational size. Read this book as a start and move ahead from there to fianancial freedom.

Summary: A superb guide for the little investor
Review: Although many Wall Street professionals scoff at the Fools' lack of business education and experience, the book clearly demonstrates that Wall Street professionals do not have your best interests in mind. The Fools' investment advice is firmly rooted in common sense and the embracement of market volatility as keys to making money in the long term. Their claim that investing well and for the long term can be done by anyone is a direct attack on the short-term minded money people who want to take money from the uneducated masses. If this book accomplishes anything, it is a clear message that one should educate oneself about savings and finance and challenge the establishment with one's own ability to manage money. The Fools put up real money in their "model" portfolios and will show everyone that IN THE LONG TERM they will hands-down beat the Wall Street Wise.

Anyone who reads this book should also visit their website for continuing education and discussion.

Summary: Best book I've ever read, hands down.
Review: This book is an excellent place to start learing about investing. I don't like reading, and for th e first time in my life I can understand what someone means when they say, "I couldn't put it down. There was glue on my hands and in my mouth."

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Necessary for the beginning investor.
Review: This book is the first book by the Motley Fools that I read and it completely redirected my thinking on investing in the stock market and mutual funds. While some of their "systems" might not be the best way to invest, they will provoke thought and encourage you to develop your own system (which is what you should be doing anyway). The most eye-opening part to me was the portion on mutual funds. Fortunately I was already in an Index fund, but after reading their book I reviewed my mutual funds and have since sold two laggards.

Review: A lot of information here, but if you are planning to use the internet to really get more bang for your buck and find the best deal around then you also need a book like Trading Online (FT Pitman) by Patel.
