Rating: Summary: This is the most wonderful book I've ever read! Review: The Gardner brothers are one pair of brilliant "fools!" This is the one and only tool to help the individual investor outperform the market and all the mutual funds (93% under-perform the market). They offer logical, funny, and EASY TO UNDERSTAND explainations for their principles, techniques, and ideas. Visit them on the web at: http://www.fool.com You'll love their web site too!
Rating: Summary: The absolute best investment book I have ever read. Review: The Gardner brothers have written an incredibly good book. Their tongue in cheek approach to a very serious subject is extremely clear and understandable. This is a gift to novice investors. It is exactly what I have been looking for for years. An investment approach that can produce a maximum return with a nominal but mitigated risk because of the logical and thorough process for stock selection. A methodical approach to reviewing companies that virtually anyone can do and using a minimum of resources involving a cost. This is one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read--of any kind.
Rating: Summary: Not Bad for The Money. Review: I rate this book a "B". If i was a novice I might be more impressed. Most of the basics are covered on the www.fool.com WebSite, so if you want the flavor of this book try that first. I found the chapter on reviewing Annual Reports the most valuable. That alone might justify the price for me, but everything else is pretty much on the web. The humor wore thin on me, as others have stated. Sometimes I found myself skimming, looking for the next bit of serious text. But I think if you get this book, one by Peter Lynch and Warren Buffet, you'll be OK. Moderation in everything, so use this as ONE input about what to do with your money.
Rating: Summary: Web Address and Next Book. Review: Just to correct an earlier comment, the Web site for thosewho've enjoyed the book and want to join us in Fooldom ishttp://www.fool.com. If you have any difficulty finding or using the site, please feel free to e-mail me directly (DavidG@fool.com) and I or another Fool will get back to you very promptly. Also, thank you to all those who've made kind comments, and we look forward to sharing with you our next book, "You Have More Than You Think," Fool on!
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Investment Book For Beginners Review: This book does a wonderful job of defining terms that other investment books just gloss over. It is informative and fun at the same time. Tom and Dave should be complimented for their effort. I am still fairly new to the investment world and found The Motley Fool a great asset. Everyone skeptical of investing themselves should read this book. Then get online and visit their site for all your daily investment needs
Rating: Summary: Good way to start thinking about investing Review: This book is great for the complete investment novice - like myself. The tone can sometimes border on obnoxious, but is basically fast reading and full of great information. I wish I had read this BEFORE sinking my money into that time share in Las Vegas...
Rating: Summary: The Motley Fool:Investment Guide is the best out their. Review: This book is full of information.Anyone who is just starting to play the market should read this book. Also if you know the market. You still can learn from it.The two brothers have helped me triple my money.I got a new car from using one of their ideas. The two are very well known in the market. Here is some advice from the book.Invest in DRIPS which is Dividend Reinvestment Plan. You don't pay commission and the company does. Also the Dividend gets reinvested so you can get more shares in the company.I give the book a 10!!

A Money Saving Tip: P.S. IF You Buy It From Amazon.Com You Save A Bundle!!
Rating: Summary: OK for beginners, but full of self-congratulatory nonsense Review: An OK book for beginners, but there are better books out there. What I especially didn't like is the very low signal-to-noise ratio in the book. The Gardners would give you one good idea and then spend pages congratulating themselves about how great they are etc. If you can tolerate this and other insults to your intelligence, and if you are a beginner, then consider this book. Skip it if you have access to the articles on investing available on-line on AOL or other places
Rating: Summary: Aptly titled Review: Not the worst financial book out there, but right up there. I am tired of the same format for financial success books, and I have read them all (that tells you something about me, I guess)
These guys rehash the same old theories and techniques that have been around forever. They have been at this a couple years, yet they write as if they were doing this for years. This book is just a selling gimmick for their AOL site. I notice their column in Smart Money has been discontinued.
More of the same: "You don't need a broker, financial planner, or research analysts, you just need us to help you discover these super duper secret stocks that will make you rich"
Pass on this one unless you have never made investments before.
Rating: Summary: Are you FOOLISH? If you pass on this book, you are! Review: Does hearing about the impending failure of the Social Security system frighten you? Does the thought of investing in stocks send a chill down your spine? Would you just like to put your money in a bank and forget about it? If you feel this way, you are not much different than the majority of people out there. This book can change your entire outlook on investing. The brothers Gardner have put together an approach to investing that is easily understandable and mathematically simple. They discuss three different style of investments that have historically delivered double-digit returns to investors over the long term. Each of these approaches requires little time and effort on the part of the individual. So, if you want to take matters into your own hands and feel more comfortable doing so, then DON'T pass on this book
