Summary: High excitement, not very fulfilling
Review: Don't get me wrong. Neil Gaiman is one of my absolute favorite authors. I've, at one time or another, read all of his Sandman work and am working on everything else. His work with Dave McKean especially deserves attention. But this is prose, Neil all by himself with no pictures to accompany him along the way. And while the whimsical, strangely boring Richard is the main character, the other characters in "London Below" (a world Richard stumbles into after helping a hurt girl) are the true stars of the book. The marquis de Carabas for example, a man of unending wit and surprise. Door, the young princess who brought Richard his misfortune and adventure. And while I liked the story, I thought it fell short of the kind of plot I know Neil is capable of. The book seems too easily written, too short, with too large a font used simply to fill pages. I was prepared for a world a bit more vast and perplexing. I suppose I could blame my 4-out-of-5 stars on high hopes. But rest assured you'll like the book, if not somewhat of a predictible ending.

Summary: An adult fantasy to be remember
Review: This is an adult version of "alice in wonderland". Wonderfully dark and surreal at times, laced with humor, and stark realism at times, this is one book that is not easily forgotten. I read this book in one sitting, then immediately went back to page one to reread it. This is a book written by an author that is truly developing into one of modern literatures most outstanding talents - not to be missed. Even if you didn't read Gaiman's "Sandman" comic (Which you really should, byt the way) you will immediately be drawn into this. Definitely breaking the mold of the "Funny book writer"!

Summary: Brilliant!
Review: Whoever gave this ONE star obviously does not understand the British art of understatement! This is a brilliant tale of modern fantasy. Great characters, scary monsters, great plot twist (who is the ultimate villain?) Neil Gaiman is a genius, as anyone who's read the Sandman series or Mr. Punch knows.

Summary: If You Haven't Yet, Read It. If You Have, Read It Again
Review: Neverwhere is a brilliant book. It is well-written, rich and full of atmosphere. There is a slightly sardonic edge to it, making for a blend of action, adventure, and fun. Neil Gaimen is truly a master, and has shown his expertise clearly this title. The characters are wonderfully developed, and full of life. It is whimsical, and also slightly dark, a perfect book if you just want to slip away for a while into another world that you wish was your own. If ever a book deserved applause, this is the one. Read it now.

Summary: INCREDIBLE
Review: One of the most amazing novels I have ever read. Neil Gaiman is a master at storytelling. Read this book today YOU won't be sorry.

Summary: Check Out the First Sentence
Review: "The night before he went to London, Richard Mayhew was not enjoying himself."

The man screws it up on the first sentence. The first sentence. Imagine what the rest of the book is like. A little friendly warning.

Summary: A truly great story
Review: Neverwhere is one of the most entertaining novels I've read in quite some time. Neil Gaiman is, as Stephen King attests, a "treasure house of story" and he is firing on all cylinders here. The characterization is consistently strong and well-developed. The action proceeds at a breakneck pace and the depth of imagination on display is at times astounding. It's a darkly wonderful journey and one that disappoints only in the sense that it has to end. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes to read.

Summary: A must read for anyone and everyone!
Review: Gaiman does right in my opinion regarding this book. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. I would definitely like to see it continued....

Summary: The Greatest Novel in the Underside!
Review: Wonderful, spellbinding, magical, enthralling, entrancing. Neil Gaiman's astonishing "Neverwhere" is all these and more. Pick it up today... but mind the Gap!

Summary: Where's The Beef?
Review: This book started so promosing, but in the end was one big dissapointment. It was extremely anti-climactic and really did not go anywhere. Speaking rats - what more can I say. This novel is meant for a young teenage audience who are not mature enough to understand thoughtful writing.
