Summary: Loser will be great winner
Review: Do you have a best friend?
Are you always picking on anything from
your school or your society?
Loser is about a boy named Zinkoff.
He is like any ordinary kid.
He talks, laughs,and has fun.
Zinkoff, the main character, has many emotions.
Zinkoff has his own world.
Zinkoff grew very slowly and difficultly, yet he was very independent from his parents.
He did not get any help from his parents, because he took the problems himself.
He did not speak to parents.
Many people do not recognize themselves in society, because they are too busy at work.
They do not have their own character.
People just imitate others.
While I was reading Loser, I was thinking about my childhood, and I could understand my son, what he thought.
I always wanted my son to be perfect.
I was not so when I was young.
As an adult, I sometimes feel like Loser; like Zinkoff in this society.
I believe that this book is for teenagers, but it is also good for adults.
Now, I wish that Zinkoff will be great winner.

Summary: I love Zinkoff
Review: Zindoff is a very special boy. His nickname is "Loser". Everybody teases him but I am very interested in his character. I couldn't wait to finish this book. Sometimes the story was boring but I wanted to know more about who he was. When I was reading the book, I was sad, because I forgot about my childhood. I couldn't remember. I never thought about my childhood. Even though I am a mother, I don't try to understand my children's minds. But, I have thought a lot about my attitude toward children. This book helped me to understand about children's minds. Young people and parents have to read this book. There may be many helpful ideas about who chidren are. You can find your childhood again!!!

Summary: Appropriately named.
Review: This book was painfully dull. It could have been a 2 chapter book. I got the message right away. Zinkoff is a "special" boy who is very happy although he finds little sucess in school and with his peers. Had it not been a required book for a class I am taking, I would have put it down after chapter 2.

Summary: Super Loser
Review: Loser Scholastic Inc, 2002, 218 pp., $9.95

Jerry Spinelli ISBN 0-439-45793-9

'There are winners everywhere'The sidewalks. The backyards. The alleyways. The playgrounds'Except for Zinkoff. Zinkoff never wins. But Zinkoff doesn't notice. Not yet.' Not until one word gets repeated to him over and over again.
Donald Zinkoff is different from most kids. He enjoys school and explodes with laughter over a made up word like 'Jabip.' Zinkoff trips over his own feet, raises his hand even when he doesn't know the correct answer, and he has an upside-down valve in his stomach that makes him throw up a lot. Since he is different in so many ways from other kids, Zinkoff gets the name 'Loser' which, like it would to any one, seriously hurts him. Zinkoff tries to stay away from the many teasers and can only find comfort with people in his neighborhood. While Zinkoff lives his life from first to sixth grade, he does hilarious things, making an excellent story.
This book is mostly funny, and it more like a collection of stories rather than one long story. Some of the chapters have nothing to do with the main story line. This book is amazing and realistic. It was so good I couldn't put it down. Spinelli uses a unique writing style that I thought worked very well. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the ending, but other than that, there are no downsides to this book. I would recommend this book to any one who loves humor in books they read.

Summary: "Loser" really is a loser
Review: After reading this book, I vowed never to read another Spinelli book ever again. The flat, identical characters, the flat, simplistic storyline, none of it seemed to have any depth at all. Zinkoff seems to be autistic or challenged to me, yet no information was given on his questionable mental health. Nothing really happened in the book that stood out for me, not much of a climax in the storyline. After such a good book like Stargirl, I'm wondering what in the world Spinelli did to write this one. "Loser" tried miserably to inspire me to sympathize with Zinkoff, while all it did was to make me think it was all an obvious pity-party for everyone who's ever felt different. Too many books have been written on this, I feel like I'm drowning in a bowl of chicken soup(books).

Summary: Being Happy Is The key To Life
Review: Loser was a moving book when I read it for a book report for school. To have a good life you should be happy person. When you read parts of the book, you realize how mean some people can be. I think everyone who knows haow to read should read this book.

Summary: A Sophisticated Story
Review: As a Newbery Award-winning author, Spinelli can expect readers to have high expectations. Especially when he produces a novel in the "young adult" genre. Fortunately, Spinelli rarely disappoints and he doesn't disappoint here.

Loser is the story Donald Zinkoff as he moves from the first through the sixth grades. In essence, it is the story of how "winners" and "losers" are created. In the early grades, Zinkoff may be a little odd but his peers have not yet learned how and why to exclude certain children. As time goes on, however, Zinkoff's love of school (despite his rather limited abilities) and, in particular, poor performance at sports makes him an outcast.

It should be understood that this novel is basically an interesting character study of a single character--Zinkoff. Despite the rather dramatic wandering in the snowstorm near the end of the book, there is not a lot of action beyond the ordinary day-to-day events in the life of a young man. But this is one of the things that gives this book its charm. That, and Zinkoff's own obliviousness to his social status. It is nice to see a character who basically likes himself.

On the other hand, this is a clue to the novel's weakness. This is basically a very sophisticated story about a boy who has social problems as well as real problems that are only hinted at. As an adult, I found it very true and interesting but it works on a level higher than a lot of younger readers might be capable of reaching. Teenage readers might get a lot from this novel but will they read a story about a grade-schooler? I am afraid this novel will have a tough time finding an audience which is too bad because it is well worth reading.

Summary: Loser
Review: "Loser" is agreat book that shouldn't be missed by kids of all ages. It's about a kid named Donald Zinkoff, who loves life and school, but can't get anything right. He has atrocious handwriting, he's not to smart, and he's one of the nerdiest kids you'll ever come to meet. The book takes from his early years, to middle school. It's a nice, easy read for everyone who can, and will make you giggle many times. It's one of the most fun times I've had with a book.
