Summary: Things that make you go hmmm....
Review: Myers should have this book made into a movie! What a great plot! I was pulled in and I really did go "hmmm..." Myers raises so many questions about what is right and wrong and what really makes a monster. Are you guilty only if you commit the crime?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent.
Review: I loved this book. I love books with a lot of dialogue and this book is practically all dialogue. Fast paced and very realistic.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Suspenseful and appealing to reluctant readers!
Review: As a teacher, I first gave this book to one of my students. After he returned it in 2 days with his verdict ("Devastating!"), my impressions were confirmed. He found the ending so intruiging that he would not spoil it for me--and I won't either. Myers does an excellent job in telling a difficult story. The very unusual page layout is also inviting to kids who are intimidated by lots of verbage.

Review: Myers really understands teens. If you liked his Scorpions, you'll like this book. Adults need to read this book to really understand what it's like to be poor and a teen.

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read!! Exciting, thrilling!
Review: If you want a book to read, this is the book for you! It is about a 16yr old boy that is telling his story of trial and imprisonment for murder in the form of a movie script. Very suspensful. I could not put the book down. I read it in 1 day. The author makes you feel as though you are actually there or even a witness to the crime. A must read.

Summary: MONSTER
Review: Monster

This is one of the best books I have ever read, and I don't usually like reading books. I know you have heard that many times before but when you hear it from me you know its true because I absolutely despise reading.
This book is based on a true story: Three men planned a robbery at the local drug store in which the local drug store clerk was shot and killed. Now these three men are on trial and one of them is innocent, can you tell who? One of the characters is Steve. He was one of the three being convicted of murder. Whether or not he was guilty, you'll just have to see for yourself. Evans was another of the three that were on trial for felony murder. And James King is the last main character that is on trial for murdering the store clerk.
This book is good because all of these characters seem realistic. The author describes how appropriately they dressed for their court trials. The way that the author talks about the characters makes me able to picture the characters in my head. " Cut To: Steve Harmon getting dressed in his cell wearing a tie and button up shirt". The author also makes the murder scene real because the police go through the proper procedure that they normally would at a regular murder scene.
The court case also seems true, Mostly because the book is written in play form, with characters being given dialogue and actions. Its almost like its being written by a court reporter.
The way that this book was written was the first thing that jumped out at me because it is so realistic. You can picture the man or woman who is talking. However there were some flaws to the way it was written because the narrative alternates between third person play form and first person diary format making parts of the book hard to understand. I would get lost while I was reading because I would get so into it I wouldn't bother reading the names of the person who was talking.
In conclusion I think that this was an extremely good book. I recommend this book to people who like mystery books because with this book you never know what's going to happen next.

Summary: Monster
Review: It's interesting how this book was written. This entire book isa script, a screenplay of a young man's life that is"true". It's sort of a way for Steve Harmon, the main character, to escape his current reality, to get his mind off of his troubles. The entire storyline revolves around a trial, where a robbery took place and a murder occured. Steve along with a "friend" of his are on trial, and it seems like everyone is against them. Steve is the "director" and "main character" of his own script and storyline. It's really neat how the author did certain pages. I call these pages "journal entries". These pages were made to look like journal entries written by Steve. It's interesting to see what a person being convicted of a crime will write while on trial. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading different styles or looks of stories, other than the traditional look of a book. Since the book is written as a screenplay, it reads really fast. Also, you can imagine your own pictures about the events, instead of having the author give you details. It's a good read. 5 stars.

Summary: Monster: Guilty or Innocent
Review: "Monster" is a great story about, Steve, a 16 year old man who is being tried for the robbery and killing of a local drugstore owner. In this book written by Walter Dean Myers the story is told as a script for Steve's movie and a journal. By letting the reader in to both, we are positioned as a witness and part of the jury. The detail in which Myers goes into keeps the reader enthralled into the pages of the book and makes every thing sound very real. In all "Monster" was an excellent book that almost all can read.

Summary: I really expected more
Review: I think it's a good story, and the writing-perspective is also were brilliant, I think but I think the book is too clear at the beginning and there's no real thrill in it. But all in all it's something like a good book!
