Summary: Guilty by Association!
Review: You are responsible for your own actions. This is the awful truth that Steve Harmon, the main character in this fast-paced novel, finds out the hard way. We all make mistakes, but sometimes, mistakes can cost us a lot. But make no mistake about it, you will definitely enjoy reading this award-winning book. Although the author probably intended this for teenage boys, girls will also struggle along with the main character as he comes to grips with his seemingly innocent involvement in a crime that led to murder. This book is short and easy to read, making it perfect for your summer reading list or as part of the school curriculum for reluctant or disadvantaged readers. Summary: Wow!
Review: One of the few books that actually left me with chills after I'd read it. WDM takes an unconventional look at an American tragedy and pulls it off beautifully. Deserving of every award it received and much more.

Summary: A real life look
Review: From a High School Freshman: I think that Monster was a good book because it is a real life look at gang life. Many people don't realize how much gang life can affect one's life. Monster talked a lot about the little things that you never hear about, like how much time each person put into their gang. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good and exciting book

Summary: Monster review
Review: It is a good book. It gives a good image of being in jail during your trial. The only bad part was the script. It was boring having to read all of the stage directions. I think it should be made into a movie. Overall it is a good book.

Summary: monsterous of a book
Review: Good book.I liked how the author drew me into the character's mind. I loved the book's style. Many students can use this for class performances. I would like to see this book made into a movie. The author makes you feel the character's pain and suffering. I would recommend this book to anyone. The description used makes you feel that you are a part of the action. You must understand what the abbreviations are too follow the story. The book was very suspenseful. I could not put it down. I read the book in two days. The bond between the characters was very strong. In the ending, and throughout the whole story, you could put yourself in the place of the jury. If you did not like the decision of the jury maybe you could write to the author and tell him what you thought. When reading the book I felt very scared. This is one of the reasons kids of any age shouldn't go to jail. When done I thought that it would be nice to be a lawyer and to try to save an innocent person's life from prison. The title was kind of misleading in the beginning, but near the end I understood what it meant. The weird thing about the story was that there were three lawyers instead of two. The main character was very scared and helped me realize that family is the best thing in the world. What happens in the story reminds me of bad streets in towns and that you should avoid bad places and situations. You never know if a person is a bad person just by their looks.Don't take small things in this world for granted because while in jail Sam realized that they mean alot. In closing, I definetely would read another book by this author. Travis Breese

Summary: Shigitoshi's Review of Monster
Review: Imagine yourself in a court room accused of a Felony Murder and the worst part is you didn't do it!This is what happened to a 16 year old named Steve Harmon. He is the main character of the book. The main people thought to be participants in the robbery were Steve Harmon, James king, Osvaldo, and Richard "Bobo" Evans. King, Bobo and Osvaldo planned to rob a store. King told Bobo that Steve was the look out, but evidently Steve didn't want to be. Before the the robbery Steve walked out of the store and didn't say anything to them, so they went in to the store, thinking that everything was clear. They started arguing with Mr. Nesbitt and then told him to give them the money in the register. Then Mr. Nesbitt pulled out a gun on King. King took it from him and shot him. They took the money and some cigarettes. When they got caught they ratted on Steve to get an easier sentence. Steve's lawyer was a woman refered to as Miss O'Brien, Kings lawyer was a person named Briggs, and the people's prosecutor was a person named Petrocelli. The three lawyers continue to battle over who is innocent for a long period. Then Steve spends another night in prison. He mainly thinks about the crime and how he is innocent. The night before the trial, Steve can't sleep, waiting for the next day to come. He thinks about the decisions that he has made. The next day Steve waits for the jury's verdict. The jury finds Steve Harmon.... This book is a pretty good book. It's kind of hard to keep up with, but it's is still a good book. I recommend you read it.

Summary: Monster
Review: It's interesting how this book was written. This entire book isa script, a screenplay of a young man's life that is"true". It's sort of a way for Steve Harmon, the main character, to escape his current reality, to get his mind off of his troubles. The entire storyline revolves around a trial, where a robbery took place and a murder occured. Steve along with a "friend" of his are on trial, and it seems like everyone is against them. Steve is the "director" and "main character" of his own script and storyline. It's really neat how the author did certain pages. I call these pages "journal entries". These pages were made to look like journal entries written by Steve. It's interesting to see what a person being convicted of a crime will write while on trial. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading different styles or looks of stories, other than the traditional look of a book. Since the book is written as a screenplay, it reads really fast. Also, you can imagine your own pictures about the events, instead of having the author give you details. It's a good read. 5 stars.

This story is told by Steve and is very interesting from the beginning. Steve is being accused of participating in a robbery where a drugstore owner was shot and killed. This book kept me in anticipation throughout the story, I couldn't put it down. The book always keeps you wanting to know what is going to happen next. Throughout the story Steve is being accused of committing this crime by person after person. During the story he is battling with himself. He is having doubts about his own innocense. Even his own attourney has doubts on his innocense. The only thing that he can decide on is that he does not want to spend another day in prison yet alone the rest of his life.
