Rating: Summary: monster by Walter Dean Myers Review: This was an exciting book for me because it shows how a teenager who was accused of a crime kept his head up even though he was going through tough times. steve harmon was a 16 year old boy who was a caring and confident person. what i really liked about this novel was the fact that steve had such loving, and supportive parents who stuck with him all trough the trial when not knowing whether their son was innocent or guilty. I also liked how steve decided to make the book in a movie kind of a way because you can picture the scenary and reactions of the characters better. I would really recommend this book to a teenager who is going trough hard times 0r who just simply loves to read.
Rating: Summary: Hernandez C Scott8 Review: When I started to read "Monster" i was confused by the way it was written. It took me like the first 3 pages to get used to the format. Once i started to read the i book i couldnt put it down. The book is about a 16 year old boy was convicted of murder. Steve could be sent to prison from 25 years to life. Steve tells the whole court room that he was set up, but the jury would not believe him. Inside the prison the people around him tell him that theres no way he can win. Before the trial Steve been hanging around some bad guys. He hanged around with two guys by the name of James King and Bobo Evans. Steve was the youngest of all. The two bad guys had been planning a robbery. The two guys walked into the store the we're going to rub. They though they were clear, when Steve gave them a sign. The guys had a struggle with the store owner and a gun was pulled out and the owner got shot. Evans and King got what they wanted and left like nothing happened. The trial was a long and complicated. Throughout the story, Steve learns things, he learns to be persistent, and he learns to be honest. In the end, Steve came out a much better person.

Rating: Summary: What do You Think, is he Guilty? Review: What do you think, is he Guilty? When previewing the book Monster, it will look like a 6th graders read. The format of the book is very unusual. It is written as a script of a movie or play. This actually made the book easier and faster to read. The only problem with it is that it starts to get confusing because there are about 13 different characters to keep track of. The author will mention a character for a short period of time, then later on in the book bring them up again. Monster is about a boy named Steve Harmon; Steve is 16 years old and living at home with his mom, dad and brother. The book takes place in the "ghetto" of New York. The reader gets thrown into the book while Steve is already in jail and it is unclear why he is in jail. Later as Steve has flashbacks, the author starts to explain what happened, and the reasoning for him being behind bars. Steve, being in jail for playing a role in felony murder has to have a lawyer. Her name in Miss O'Brien, throughout the book it seems as though she doesn't believe in him. She tells him that they aren't doing very well in the case, which worries Steve a lot. As the trial goes on Miss O'Brien starts to understand and trust Steve then comes up with some good arguments but still isn't sure that they have a chance. The prosecutor is working very hard to put all the men involved in jail for 25 to life. Steve is only 16; the last thing he wants is to be in a filthy, loud, dangerous jail cell for the rest of his life. As Steve is in jail he writes his experiences in a journal, only he writes it as if it were a movie. He is very detailed in his writing, word for word what almost everyone around him says. The action and suspense in this book are very intriguing, regardless of how easy of a read it is, it's worth reading. The book has a good a fairly good moral to it. The moral of the book doesn't necessarily stand out there, but it does build a strong opinion among the reader. Something that was different about the book was that it is made to look like it is a non fiction book. When you look inside the book there are pictures of "Steve" in jail and at home a picture of his mother also. All the pictures along with the format lead you to believe that the book is a true story. When reading a book that is a true story about murder, criminals, or anything suspenseful like that it makes it so much more interesting to read than if it were just fiction. Though it can make it very confusing, if you aren't sure whether the book is true or not; then it is hard to keep on reading and understand everything happening. Monster is a great book; I would suggest it to anyone for a quick read. It is very short, and easy so why not just take a couple hours to read an excellent, well detailed book? I would read this book again anytime and I think you should take the time to read Monster and grow your own opinion about it.
Rating: Summary: Monster - Watford -Scott Review: This is a book about a yong teenager. Steve Harmon. Steve was being accused of taking apart of a store robbery. Steve Harmon was in the wrong place at the wrong time. On a early morning he got up and walked over to a drug store, on his way he seen two guys that he sometimes sees around the nieghborhood. He walked into the store to by some mints as he looked over he seen those two guys walk into the store and rob it. In the store at the time was a lady in the back, Steve Harmon and the two guys robbing the store. The robbery went bad and the store owner ended up being shot and killed. They got arrested, all three of them including Steve Harmon. A week later they appeared in court in front of a judge and jury {jury rulling the case} the three of the guys told there side of the storys. Steve Harmon told the jury he was not guilty and that he had nothing to do with the robbery. Bobo one of the other two guys pleaded guilty and the other guy pleaded not guilty. Bobo explained that his friend and Steve Harmon were both in on it. Bobo told the jury that Steve was the look out. At the end of these cases Bobo and his friend were both guilty and sentence to prison, Steve Harmon was found not guilty and was released. This book I thought decerved 5 stars and is great for teenagers 12 and older. Monster is great for teenagers because it shows what kids have to go through everyday. This story was based on a movie playing through Steve Harmon's mind.

Rating: Summary: Monster by Walter Dean Myers Review: I really enjoyed reading the book, Monster by Walter Dean Myers. I would describe the main character as a teen with self confidence. Even though he was accused of murder he knew everything would be alright and he was going to get through it. His parents were kind of supporting. They knew his son was alright and they were there with him, supporting him. Sometimes he had his downs. He thought he was in a movie because everything seemed unreal. The book was written like a movie and that made it kind of confusing at times. I would recommend this book to anyone who just likes teenagers stories and likes to read about cases on court. It's just a good book.
Rating: Summary: MONSTER Review: I think MONSTER is a great book. I would recommended this book to other people. This is a book about a sixteen year old boy being accused of a first degree murder.I don't think it was fair for them to accused Steve Harmon for something that they do not even have proof saying he did it. I think Steve Harmon learned a big lesson out of his experince. Steve feel that it was not his fault for the murder of the drugstore clerk. He think that he be accused for the murder. Will he be accused for the murder? Be sure to go out and get this book.
