Summary: WORDS OF FORGIVENESS, PEACE AND LOVE AT LAST.
Review: If my fairy god-mother granted me once wish, and I could spend a day with any person in the world, living or deceased, I would choose to spend a day with David Pelzer, for his wisdom, courage, humanity and ability to forgive. In this third book of David's trilogy, the adult years, he shows us the true meaning of forgiveness. He is living proof that until one can honestly look into their heart and forgive the abuser, one cannot truly begin to heal. With that healing process, comes peace of mind, self-worth and the realization that the world can become as beautiful and fulfilling as you choose to make it.

"All those years you tried your best to break me, and I'm still here. One day you'll see, I'm going to make something of myself." Those are David's words. How many other survivors have said those same words? It is what keeps the spirit alive. As adults, child abuse survivors are often high achievers not only because of their need to please, be accepted and loved, but because of their determination not to let the abuser "win the battle." David Pelzer won his battle. To forgive his dying father, a man who silently sat on the sidelines while David was being abused at the hands of his mother, is the ultimate attestation of David's healing, and the final destination in his journey. I think adult survivors in every corner of the world would join me in saying, "Thank you, David, for telling your story. You have, indeed, made "something of your life" and most graciously continue to do so through your work in helping others." May you, and those you love, continue to live, love and enjoy life eternally.

Summary: My personal hero
Review: I'm so thankful that Dave went on to write a third book, about his adult life. After reading his first two books "A Child Called It" and "The Lost Boy" I yearned for closure; I wanted to learn about his life as an adult, and I wanted to find answers as to why he was abused. After the tragedy of being told that it was his fault, I'm so glad that Dave finally realized that it wasn't. How glad I am that Dave has found joy with his son and lovely wife. I admire his kindness to his first wife and to everyone who has ever hurt him. I also admire him so much for admitting his own frailties and working on overcoming them, instead of making excuses.

If anyone ever had an excuse to make excuses, it's Dave - but what a waste his life would have been if he had! He has the ability to lift others up as few others do. He never makes excuses or blames others, but instead he works on learning and improving himself. How fascinating to follow the path of his education; he didn't let the deprivations of childhood keep him from learning - and how *hungry* he was to learn! Such courage, and such perseverence! I experienced every triumph right along with him.

This man, by sharing himself through his books and appearances, has not only given of himself, but also of the many others who helped him. I am so grateful to every single person who made a difference in Dave's life. All of these people have so much to be proud of.

He has made peace with his past as few others except some Holocaust survivors and those dying of a terminal illness have done. Not all Holocaust survivors have learned to forgive and *give*, and not everyone who has endured a terminal illness has made peace with their life and everyone in it.

Dave mentioned near the end of the book how he keeps himself grounded every day with his personal beliefs and by his loved ones. How many of us can say that; we often get caught up in daily life and forget what's really important - to LIVE, LOVE, and ENJOY LIFE!

Summary: Touching and heart-felt
Review: In "A man named Dave", Dave Pelzer's final book in his autobiographical trilogy, we learn the struggles and questions Dave is faced with as he grows and matures and becomes a parent himself. We learn of the insecurities, the sense of loss and frustration, and ultimately, forgiveness and peace. If you've ever felt lost and confused by the hardships of life (and who hasn't?) then this book helps ease that confusion a little. And, despite the horrid abuse suffered by Dave, he doesn't speak down or act condescending to the reader regarding their own struggles, but rather writes with the conviction that pain is pain, but that we are, if we really want to, inherently strong and good enough to overcome and move on.

Summary: A Great Conclusion
Review: This 3rd and final book of the series of Dave Pelzer's life tells you what happened to him after he escaped "The Mother". In the beginning of his series, everyone in his neighborhood thought that his mother was an average mom. They thought that she was a great Cub Scout leader, and a loving mom, but little do they know that behind closed doors, she abuses and belittles her child. Most of these things happen in the first book, A Child Called It, while the second part of his story, his life in and out of foster homes, happens in the second book, The Lost Boy. But the final book, A Man Named Dave, gives most of the answers, at least enough to keep Dave happy. This book tells how he went on with his life and made something of it, even though he had a horrible childhood. It tells you about all things from meeting his wife, to his growing relationship with his grandmother, to the birth of the one he loves the most, his son Stephen. This book tells a lot about being strong, having courage, and perseverance. Even though the answers Dave got were enough for him, I, as a reader, wanted much more. Such as, "Why him?" "Why was he abused in stead of his brothers?" Although they are good books, I don't recommend them to children under 12 or 13 and as far as the 1st one goes, noone with a weak stomach should read it.

Summary: Refined rather than raw
Review: After reading the Lost Boy and A Child Called "It" Ihad to read the last installment of this compelling trilogy to findout if Dave did indeed confront "the Mother". Reading thisbook last, I thought is was not as "raw" as the shocking andhorrific stories told of Dave's abuse in the first two books. It wasobviously more crafted and skillfully edited by his wife Marsha, whomyou read about in this book. Although at times found myself skimmingsome pages to get to the important parts, this book is a must read. Atsome points it summarized points in the other books, which Iunderstand is necessary if this book is to be read first. Certainlyyou could read this book without reading the others because of thesynopsis; however, the rawness of the beginning stories is what Ifound most compelling as a reader. Either way, Dave's story isinspriational and important.

Summary: A Man Named Dave
Review: A Man Named Dave by:Dave Pelzer A man named Dave is the third seqel to a wonderful series by Dave Pelzer. It's about Daves life as an adult. In the first book he was beaten by his mother. He grow's up wanting to become a fireman like his father. So he joins the Air Force, not telling them what his mother did to him as a child because he didn't want that to reflect on his applaction. They said that all the firemen postions were taken up so they made him a cook. After five year's of being a cook he quit the Air force and became a writer. To really under stand this book you really need to read the two other book's by Mr.Peltzer.They are A CHILD CALLED IT and THE LOST BOY.I really liked this book along with the others.I would recomend this book to everyone. It was a great book.

Summary: Reading All Three Of Dave Pelzer's Books
Review: I have read all three of Dave Pelzer's books and I want to comment that this man has alot of strength for someone who has gone through alot of severe abuse and numerous foster homes. No child should ever be abused because today if parents did what Dave's mother did, there these parents can be locked up behind bars. Dave's mother was a true alcholic, but I think she may have some severe mental problems. It surprises me though in her mental state, she did not treat her other children the way she treated Dave. One thing that is disturbing is that Dave's father never attempted to rescue him from a situation that was so horrifying. The sad part about Dave's father is that he too, was an alcoholic so, he wasn't exactly in his right state of mind even though he knew precisely what went on with Dave. I recommend that people read this book to get a real understanding of how abuse can affect a person's life.

Summary: This was so BORING
Review: I would've been really mad at myself if I hadn't read this book or at least gotten it since it's the last of the series and everything. I just hadn't expected it to be this bad; I thought that it'd be even better than the previous one (I thought that was the best of the three). I just found this book boring and pathetic. The whole time, he's just asking himself the same question over and over again. I think the only reason this book came out was because it didn't fit in with the second one and so a third one had to be written. Only now all that's left to say is that he's an adult. I honestly don't think this book is worth buying. If you're like me and you've just got to know the ending, then get it borrow it from the library.

Summary: A Man Named Dave
Review: I found this book to be a great finale to the trilogy Dave Pelzer wrote. I was heart wrench while reading the first two because I couldn't understand how a mother could behave as she did. After reading this book and finding out how "The Mother's" mother treated her and everyone else, it started to become more clear. Dave is a great inspiration to those of us who are just trying to get through each day with some sanity. I was very angry when reading how his first wife treated him. She had her own psychological scars and when he begged for her forgiveness, it changed my whole outlook on her position. I was very happy to read that he has a new bride and is finally getting the life he (and any human being) deserves. After reading this book, you will never take simple things in life for granted again!

Summary: A Man Named Dave
Review: I thought that this book was a good end to the three books. Dave Pelzer truly has a way that can change many people's life forever. It makes me feel how lucky I am to have a family that cares for me, and makes me appreciate what I have in life. I think that Dave is a strong person and finally deserves happiness. Although I thought that the other books, "A Child Called It" and "The Lost Boy" were better, I think that this was the best way to end the book. I glad Dave gets the happiness that is well-deserved.
