Rating: Summary: TRULY AMAZING Review: This book is filled with the same intensity and emotion that the first two had , but it leaves you with a warm feeling in the end. I'm so glad David Pelzer wrote this triology and opened many people's eyes to the horror that some children are going through out there. It makes me appreciate my own child even more and treasure the family life I had as I grew up. This was the perfect end to an incredible story of triumph. God bless you David, you are an inspiration.
Rating: Summary: A pefect ending or a perfect beginning? Review: I have read all three of David's books now. They are all so beautifully written. This one is his ending to the trilogy he has written about his life as an abused child, as a foster child searching for family, and as an adult searching for answers. In this book he finds his father and the reasons why his mother abused him. I loved this book and spent an entire night reading it because I could not put it down. I recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Closure Review: Read Dave's first two books~ then the purity in this book will be seen to its fullest extent. Dave shows us that no matter how hard life is, we can make it. I commend him for his journey!
Rating: Summary: Mission Still Accomplishing! Review: Very inspirational.Author relates to the struggles of life for everyone. Read this book as fast as I had read the first two to his trilogy. I have never written an online review and felt this was worth writing. I only wish everyone could read this book to enlighten that everyone must keep going on when things appear to be in the dumps.
Rating: Summary: I think the Book was totally amazing Review: I think A Child Called "It" and the Lost Boy was breath taking. I couldn't put the book down after I started reading them. David Pelzer is an inspiration to all abused children in this world. I was glad to read that he had triumphed through such an ordeal as a child.
Rating: Summary: A Man Named Dave: A Story of Triumph and Forgiveness Review: I can honestly say I have never read a series of books in which I have been so inspired! Dave is truly a better person than I in that he not only forgives his parents but honors those that finally saved his life by reporting the abuse to the authorities. I don't think I would have been as forgiving. Our society has come a long way in protecting our most vulnerable, our young people, but we still have a long way to go. When I have a down day, I think of a little boy named "It" and it brings things back into perspective. Stephan is a lucky young man to have a father like Dave. WAY TO GO DAVE!
Rating: Summary: David Pelzer is a true hero and his books are inspirational Review: I quickly read David Pelzer's three amazing and inspirational books. I am a special needs teacher who has witnessed many cases of abuse and neglect involving children. David's book provides hope for all educators who try to help children that come from homes that do not provide even the basic needs for their children. There is a light at the end of the tunnel for children who need help. David's story is an example of an exceptional person who picks himself up and dusts himself off to become a true hero and wonderful example to many. David's mother was a sick individual who tried her best to make her childrens lives as pathetic as her own. She did not succeed and I wish she were alive today to face the consequences of her actions. I admire David's ability to forgive and be there for his father as he lay dying in a hospital bed. David's father in my eyes was a weak person who failed to provide basic safety for his children. David's father was as much a villian as his mother. It would be wonderful to see how David's brothers have weathered the storm of their unacceptable childhood. I wish all the best to David and his family. It is nice to read such a sad story that concludes with a happy ending and a bright future.
Rating: Summary: Phenomenal! Review: This book is the best depiction of child abuse that I've ever read about. I could not put the book down, literally. I don't think Dave could have explained the realms of the "system" or of the games that alcoholics play with everyone around them any better than he did. I've read all three of his books and am looking forward for the next one. When Dave achieved a goal, I felt myself wanting to applaud and yell "Way to Go Dave." Sometimes I did. An extraordinary book, one that everyone must read. Thank You Dave, for giving me the pleasure of catching a glimpse of your world, then and NOW!
Rating: Summary: A powerful story about survival and hope Review: Dave's story is very powerful and what he gives back to our youth is priceless. He lets abused children know that it is okay to tell, but most importantly, he shows them that they can survive anything. We all know about the cycle of abuse, but just as important is the cycle of self-hatred and doubt that many abused children live everyday. Often, those feelings never go away. Through Dave's books and public speaking, he has given our children back their future
Rating: Summary: Horrific, moving, touching... a must read. Review: David Peltzer has captured his entire life in this book. David somehow endured a horrific childhood to become an incredible adult... A lesson for all of us to ponder. This book is a must read for anyone who says, "It is not my problem."
