Summary: For a change, take your time.
Review: I'm not sure what I can add to all the other reviews that rightly extol the virtues of this wonderful book. Maybe I can simply testify that after reading "Take Time," I changed my copywriting business to include print ads, TV spots and small promotional pieces only. No more unwieldy, time consuming brochures, annual reports, and other such cumbersome stuff. The result? Surprisingly, same income, less hassle, and MORE FREE TIME! Thanks Cheryl. Stressed out souls everywhere should make time for your book.

Summary: A fun, practical, wise book you won't be able to put down!
Review: Cheryl Richardson has truly broken new ground in "Take Time for Your Life." Her book is easy-to-read, practical and full of wonderful anecdotes as well as helpful exercises. Her wisdom goes well beyond the advice you typically find in a self-help book. She provides tools to help you create a life you want by listening to the whispers of your soul.

Summary: A Literal Lifesaver!!
Review: Going through a recent bout of major depression (burning both ends as so many of us do!), I happened to come across this book while browsing and decided to give it a try, since not much else seemed to be helpful...It was the best investment I ever made!

Filled with incredible insight, immense compassion, true empathy and boundless wisdom, her book motivates one to get their life(back)on track--and all without pushing that almighty "guilt button". Her steps are logical, practical and completely doable. She has the amazing ability to motivate one to help themselves, present the tools for doing so, and best of all, feel good about one's self while doing it! Truly inspirational.

For anyone going through "burn-out" and resulting depression or if you're just looking for a new direction in life and a way to get there--this is the book for you! Highly recommended. I loved it so much, I bought 4 additional copies for friends and relatives to form a "coaching group"! For Cheryl: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. You truly made a difference in my life.

Summary: What a pleasant surprise!
Review: I've probably read almost every self-help book there is. I was beginning to think that most were just recycled versions of the same old "you can do it" kind of thing. Not this one, though. With simple, practical wisdom, Richardson helps self-doubters learn new ways to become better "doers," eager to follow her action steps while "taking more time for their lives." With a kind, unassuming voice, Richardson gently (but firmly) shows the way to a passion-filled life. Each page contains nuggets of info that can be instantly put to good use, and each word, in a poignant, but straightforward way helps readers connect with their hearts. This remarkable book will make you spring spellbound from your couch, and do cartwheels, sing, or start praising the Lord as you follow the path to your dreams. An amazing book written by an amazing woman - "Prozac for tired, rat-race addicted, overadrenalized souls!"

Summary: A tremendous eye opener and very practical!
Review: I'm impressed with the ease with which she explained one of life most common issues but, for me at least, missunderstood mysteries. TIME! It has always seemed to me that if I needed to get more things done I would have allocate more time and exert more effort into my general life. The concept of going through the process of removal of things, important or especially the less important, before considering a new activity was a foreign thought to me. The thought of taking time to clean my garage, library/office at home, clothes in my closet, office environment before embarking on my plans for 1999 just seemed crazy. I did it anyway and some of the unidentifiable stress that had been building recently started to dissipate. The last few weeks I've been reviewing commitments, projects and responsibilities I'm currently involved with to see where I would need to cut back to gain time in my life for more fulfilling activities. Thank you Cheryl for helping point the way.

Summary: I read it, then bought more copies as gifts!
Review: I've never given a book I've reviewed on Amazon five stars before... that's how much I liked this book! I also came back and ordered a copy for my mom and plan to buy a few more as gifts.

This is one of those books that you read and nod your head in agreement as you go. I wish they would type the inside cover with the checklists so Amazon customers could get a sense for Cheryl's practicalness. Those checklists really hit home for me and helped give me that little nudge to get things done.

This is the perfect January book to curl up with in front of fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate.... Just expect to be there for awhile, because the book will be hard to put down.

Summary: Obstacles? What obstacles?! =)
Review: I just finished "Take Time for Your Life" and if I had only one word to describe it, it would be POWERFUL.

The "problems" in my life that I considered obstacles now appear to be mere pebbles on my path to a rich and fulfilling life! The steps Cheryl lays out makes a once overwhelming task manageable. Moreso than manageable, doable!

"Take Time for Your Life" convinced me that practicing extreme self-care is not selfish. It is a must in living the life you want to live. Once you start reaping the rewards, others will too!

I highly recommend this book to everyone. We all have things in our lives we wish were easier/better/more prosperous.

I'm done reading the book, but now I can wait to go through it again and do all the tasks and challenges Cheryl sets forth for her readers.

Thanks Cheryl for convincing me to take time for my life.

Summary: The next best thing to having your own coach.
Review: Cheryl Richardson was my personal coach for 9 months. Now anyone can get the benefit of her practical wisdom, intuitive awareness, and gift of sincerity. This book is a terrific guide and user-friendly book which will assist one in putting their passions and joys as their number one priority. You can have any job, but first you must have a life! And Cheryl shows you how. Very useful tips, strategies, and exercises which are almost like having your own coach (but get one anyway if you are serious about "taking time for your life")

Summary: If You're A Coach - Grab This Book Now!
Review: Cheryl's first book, _TAKE TIME FOR YOUR LIFE_, is an amazing resource for coaches in four ways:

1. As a personal guide through the toughest problems we face as individuals;

2. As a workbook for clients who are wrestling with a specific problem area;

3. As required reading to learn advanced coaching skills, tools and principles;

4. As a topic for a talk, seminar or workshop, using any chapter as a stand-a-lone presentation. (She said you can do this, so long as you give credit to the book)

Coaches around the world will appreciate this intelligent, practical approach to life's challenges for themselves and for their clients.

While Cheryl is a premier coach and leader in the American coaching community, she has also presented talks and workshops to business people and coaches in Europe. The message and information in _TAKE TIME FOR YOUR LIFE_ is truly cross-cultural.

What distinguishes Cheryl's book is that while it has a ton of checklists, to-do's, annotated resources (which alone are worth the price of the book), if you took all that away, what remains is a wise woman who teaches you to trust, honor and fall back in love with yourself. She does this by connecting you to your Wise Self, by invoking your entitlement to a high quality life, and by modeling unshakable confidence in getting what you want by taking the high road.

In her book, Cheryl shows you and your clients how to overcome the seven common obstacles that prevent most people from living the lives they want.

Filled with inspiring stories of men and women who followed her steps, each chapter offers the necessary strategies to turn these stumbling blocks into steppingstones.

Here is her Quality of Life Checklist, with a chapter reference for each question: (Check this out for a thoughtful, clear, practical guide to answers for specific client problems.)

1. Am I taking extremely good care of myself? Do I take time out of my schedule every week just for me? (Chapter 1)

2. Have I updated my Absolute Yes list in the last three to six months, and does my schedule reflect these priorities? (Chapter 2)

3. Am I tolerating any person, place, or thing that is draining my energy? (Chapter 3)

4. Am I living within my means, saving consistently, and investing wisely? (Chapter 4)

5. Am I fueling my body, mind, and spirit with premium sources of fuel? (Chapter 5)

6. Am I strengthening my soulful connections with the important relationships in my life? (Chapter 6)

7. Am I consistent with my spiritual practice, listening to and acting on the wisdom of my Wise Self and a Divine power? (Chapter 7)

With insight and empathy, Cheryl guides us to get what we really have always wanted: peace and freedom. Get copies for everyone you care about.
