Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A GREAT BOOK! Review: I found some great insights from reading this book. I took Cheryl's advise to "chuck it" and found my home to be alot less cluttered and my energy level lifted after I threw out or gave away clothing or belongings that needed mending or fixing but had been hanging around for way too long.I also like all the resource listings Cheryl provides, because it enables the reader a quick turn around time for action. A VERY VALUABLE RESOURCE for me is a book called 'WORKING ON YOURSELF DOESN'T WORK" by Ariel and Shya Kane. The Kanes' book is an easy to read guide to self discovery that has enables many people including myself to create lives that are fun, satisfying, passionate and rewarding. Since attending many of the Kanes' seminars, reading their book and listening to their inspiring audio tapes (I highly suggect checking out MAGICAL RELATIONSHIPS or any of the Kanes' other audio tapes) my life has and continues to IMPROVE DRAMATICALLY on all levels, be it in my job or relationships.

Review: I had waited quite awhile to get this from my local library!.. NOW I'll go out & buy several, 1 for me & the rest for poeple I care about! I had no clue what a Professional Coach was, or just how incredible MS Richardson is. LIFE CHANGING, the possiblity is there. CR makes it seem possible, in clear consise managable sections. Does she wave a magic wand, NO there is work involved, but it is so clearly defined, I never once felt "How do I start or Boy that sound like too much" I can't express enough on giving yourself a chance to a better life starting with this book. I have the usual problems, overworked,(self employed)too exhausted for a social or spirtual life, making for a medicore love life and certainly a joyless business that at one time was such great hope for me. I think this book just may have given me my life back, in all the forms that will make me Productive, Happy & Healthy both in mind & spirit. Blessed be.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Not helpful for me........... Review: As someone who is firmly based in reality, the mystical content of this book was meaningless. For example, Cheryl asserts that you only need to think (or write) positive thoughts and they will magically happen for you with no effort! People who are into mysticism will like all this, but as someone who understands that Law of Identity, it comes across as silly. Also, the practical advice that was presented was mundane. We all know to we should exercise and balance our checkbooks and eat well and get enough sleep. Nothing new here. Some of the lists were good and a couple of the stories were interesting. I so wish that there were rational coaching books out there!!!!!!!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book changed my life Review: In only two weeks, this book changed my whole outlook on life. My life had become so cluttered with obligations that I could no longer enjoy the simple things in life like a beautiful sunny day, the satisfaction of a job well done or the simple pleasures of a loved one's company. I had been living a hectic life for so long, I was addicted to the frenzied pace and could not stop myself from compulsively volunteering for extra projects at work, community service plus trying to "do it all" for my family while working full time and going to college. Although many people in my life have always encouraged me to slow down, I didn't know how to do it, or even know if I wanted to. This spring I reached a crisis point of complete burnout. And that's when I stumbled onto this life-saving book. Cheryl seemed to be talking about ME in almost every paragraph. I used to think that all the "others" were slackers because they didn't use all their time "productively." With Cheryl's help I realized that I should and could slow down and enjoy life. Her insight into the "overcommitted" personality is amazing. Her steps to creating a new life for yourself are simple and yet profound. One of her suggestions is to eliminate clutter and distractions from your work life, allowing you to "work smarter not harder." I also ordered Julie Morgenstern's book: "Organizing From the Inside Out" and found it to be a perfect companion to this book. I have read many organizing books and taken a hint here and there from each of them but this is the first one that offered a complete and sensible plan for organizing all the spaces in my life from the kitchen to the office. Thank you Cheryl (and Julie) for giving me a life I haven't known since I began my life as a workaholic at the age of 12.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: COACHING CONSCIOUS FULFILMENT Review: The most impressive fact in man's spiritual, intellectual, and poetic experience has always been, for me, the universal prevalence of those astonishing moments of insight which a great philosopher called "cosmic consciousness". There is not really satisfactory name for this type of experience. To call it mystical is to confuse it with visions of another world, or of gods and angels. To call it spiritual or metaphysical is to suggest that it is not also extremely concrete and physical, while the term "cosmic consciousness" itself has the unpoetic flavour of occultist jargon. But from all historical times and cultures we have reports of this same unmistakable sensation emerging, as a rule, quite suddenly and unexpectedly and from no clearly understood cause. To the individual thus enlightened it appears as a vivid and overwhelming certainty that the universe, precisely as it is at this moment, as a whole and in every one of its parts, is so completely right as to need no explanation or justification beyond what it simply is. Existence not only ceases to be a problem; the mind is so wonder-struck at the self-evident and self-sufficient fitness of things as they are, including what would ordinarily be thought the very worst, that it cannot find any word strong enough to express the perfection and beauty of the experience. Its clarity sometimes gives the sensation that the world has become transparent or luminous, and its simplicity the sensation that it is pervaded and ordered by a supreme intelligence. At the same time it is usual for the individual to feel that the whole world has become his own body, and that whatever he is has not only become, but always has been, what everything else is. It is not that he loses his identity to the point of feeling that he actually looks out through all other eyes, becoming literally omniscient, but rather that his individual consciousness and existence is a point of view temporarily adopted by something immeasurably greater than himself. A special state of consciousness, a SUPREME state of consciousness, wouldn't you say? Cheryl Richardson here coaches in the exploration of conscious energy, with a book on self-care. And how do we take care? We become aware, we exercise consciousness, reaching INSIDE. And in order to reach the more silent areas of consciousness we have to get beyond the noisy regions of our minds in which we spend so much of our time. This necessitates a control over our thoughts. We may then be able to reach that silent area, which is the dwelling place of the Spirit, for I know of no better definition of the word Spirit than that it is pure Consciousness devoid of all thought and words. Do you agree? The attainment of higher levels of consciousness is closely related to certain religious practices and more particularly to the practices of meditation and contemplation. These are the first steps to the disciplining of the mind, which in course of time may lead to an acquirement of higher levels of consciousness. Meditation is also the gateway to a new and a much more direct way of knowing, a way in which the "known" and the "thing known" become one and the same thing. It is a difficult path to tread because our attention is repeatedly being caught again by the ceaseless chattering taking place in our heads. But eventually we may, for a short time, succeed in reaching a state of pure consciousness without thought, a state in which truth is revealed to us DIRECTLY and without the use of words. In those moments we see rather than think, and it is only afterwards that we start to fumble for words in which we try to express what was revealed to us. There is nothing "personal" or even individual in the direct knowledge that comes to us in a HIGHER conscious state. Our individual consciousness merges with a much wider consciousness, which we feel to be Universal. So also are we aware of the presence within us of something much higher than ourselves. Do you feel it? It's something which, for lack of any other name, we were forced to call God. Higher states of consciousness may, or may not come, as a reward for the self-disciplining of meditation. Although they never last for very long, during them we seem to be dwelling in an "eternal now". But soon the intensity of our new sense of "being" weakens, the level of our consciousness drops, our personalities reassert themselves, and we are back again in the world of time and of inner chattering. All that remains of what has been is a sense of gratitude for what has happened. Then life swallows us again and we disappear... But we are unlikely ever to forget what has happened to us. Our experience of an altered state of mind, of higher consciousness, remains for us the most important psychic event in our lives.

Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Another Mediocre Book! Review: This kinds of book make American society become narcisstic and apathetic, thinking only about their gated community and self righteousness. The attitude, "just as long as I am obeying the law, I don't care of people dying in the streets". I don't suggest women reading this book, it would encourage the reader to take a passive stance in life, which would destroy the essence of being a true human. Just an opinion!

I now take more time for me and less time for everyone else and especially more time for listening to great music and reading great books. Cheryl's book gives you practical and applicable steps you can apply to your life rather than esoteric abstract concepts. A great seldf-help read.
