Summary: A Shakespeare play that is actually worthy of his reputation
Review: A disillusioned warrior is sick and tired of life and says Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day to the last syllable of recorded time, and all our yesterday's have lighted fools the way to dusty death. Out out brief candle. Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Now that's a monologue!

This is a tale of ambition and murder, leading to civil war. The chief villain is Lady Macbeth, a real little over-achiever. She is one of the greatest villains in all literature. There's enough action and magic here to keep you on the edge of your seat, except for the fact that you already know the story inside out.

Summary: Shakespeare is an entertainer
Review: Macbeth is a great play. If you forget the symbolism, the imagery, the metaphors, the similes, the hyperboles and whatnot, it is a greatr play. The youth hates Shakespeare because we focus so much on analyzing everything he did. (Cough, cough, sarcasm) But all in all, he was an entertainer, much as a director is now. He wrote so that people would enjoy, not spend countless hours trying to decipher the "Secret code" that he must have put into every one of his plays, seeing as he had so much time to do this between the 30 some odd plays he did. Just take it as it is, and have fun with it. Or, with Macbeth, be sad, or disturbed, but enjoy it. I'm 16 years old, and I love Shakespeare... just don't take it too seriously.

Summary: MacBeth
Review: It's a typical Shakespear book, ya know, hidden meanings and difficult language! lol, Very good, something your English teacher makes you read

Summary: Good Book
Review: Macbeth is not one of my favorite Shakesperean plays, but it was still good. The characterization was great and revelation of Macbeth's inner thoughts was well-written and understandable. I'm still wondering about the indentity of the third murderer.

Summary: New Folger Library Shakespeare -- Not Recommended
Review: These editions of Shakespeare by New Folger Library are absolutely awful. They dumb down the Bard, as if people couldn't possibly understand Shakespeare unless they have plot summations. Frankly, they disgust me. I'm not saying Shakespeare's a breeze, but to read him in this watered down format is a travesty.

Summary: I think its geat
Review: I am a teacher at Kapuskasing High school and I think this is a really interesting way to experience Shakespeare, especially if you are having difficulty. I really recommend this book to first time Shakespeare readers. I really love the fact that the dialogue is given in its entirety.

Summary: The best choice of all
Review: There are four recordings of this play available and I feel this Harper Audio version is by far the best. If for no other reason, it preserves the poetry of Shakespeare's lines far more than do any of the others, thanks mostly to Anthony Quayle's reading. The rest of the cast are all veteran classical actors who know what they are about. And thankfully the director decided to forget about annoying Scottish accents! Grab this one and give some as gifts.

Summary: A very bland reading
Review: Of the four available recordings of <Macbeth> this is the second tamest. The Macbeth sounds never less than the perfect English gentleman and what we have is a very dignified reading of a play that should be dripping with blood and shouted in thunder. Go either for the recording on Harper Audio or the one on Penguin (the Arkangel series). This Modern Library would make a poor choice.
