Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: very excellent reading Review: the characters seem real, the plot was excellent. This was one of those books you could not put down until you were finished. This is one of those books that I will be reading again. This was Sandra Brown best ever yet. Can't wait for the next one.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: SHEESH - STOP COMPARING AND LET YOURSELF BE ENTERTAINED! Review: The Alibi was well-written, had an interesting plot and was so entertaining I couldn't put it down.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK - COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN UNTIL THE END! Review: I have read many of Sandra Brown's books and enjoy her books with mystery and romance. This book kept me reading until the end. I would highly recommend this book!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A great "beach read" Review: I am a Sandra Brown fan and have read alot of her books (not the Texas series though). I always enjoy her cast of characters and how they arrive where they are in the stories. The Alibi was definitely a good book to take to the beach. I read it in 2 days.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Where's the heat? Review: No heat, no sizzle and very little edge-of-your-seat intrigue made The Alibi one of my LEAST favorite Sandra Brown novels. Definitely bottom of the list with Charade and Unspeakable. Pick up Best Kept Secret or any of the Texas! trilogy for an excellent read.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: BORING! Review: I wait every year for her books to come out and I can't believe this is what she has to offer us!...I was 20 pages into this one and could sense that this wouldn't be worth continuing. I've never taken so long to read one of her books; it just didn't keep my interest. Out of curiousity I peeked at some of the other customer reviews and they confirmed my exact thoughts - why did I spend money on this? I hope next year's offering is an improvement and gets back to her usual style of fast pace and exciting characters.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Too predictable Review: Certainly a let down from previous books. The plot is boring and the conclusion was predictable from chapter one. Recommend skipping this book and you will not need an alibi to do it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: "The Alibi" was a page-turner. Review: Though I never connected with "Unspeakable," I found "The Alibi" very enjoyable reading indeed. I was too busy gobbling up the story to figure out the killer's identity and motivation too soon. I got caught up in the magnetic pull between the two main characters. Ms. Brown made me care about them. Hammond's struggle with issues of integrity and Alex's battle against her dark past were compelling, believable reading. The interaction between these two crackled. It was steamy, in part because there wasn't that much of it. [This is a mystery after all, not erotic fiction.] The author let me use my imagination to fill in details. She later expanded on what I thought I knew, which made it even better. Ms. Brown introduced several intriguing subplots and characters that I would have liked to get to know better, like Davee. Sadly, some of these were left dangling at the book's conclusion, prompting me to ask, "what happened to them?" There were a number of clever plot devises. I liked how the story skipped back and forth between past and present. If Ms. Brown did this to keep me guessing and paying attention, it worked. In general, I am fond of the author and enjoy most of her growing body of work - from early romances like "The Tiger Prince" and "Long Time Coming" to her early mystery efforts. If you want to read a terrific book, do yourself a favor and pick up "Mirror Image." That story has something for anyone who calls himself or herself a Sandra Brown fan. There is dramatic suspense, a romantic element, sex, politics, sleazy characters, and a surprise ending.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Missing the steam and romance of her other novels. Review: Alibi lacks the real romance of some of Ms. Brown's previous novels. I didn't particularly like Hammond Cross or Dr. Alex Ladd. I couldn't believe that those two characters were matched for each other. I didn't have much sympathy for Alex Ladd, so therefore it was hard to imagine that she needed a "knight" like Hammond Cross. I can't believe that the romance that was supposed to have developed between Ladd and Cross was so strong after only one night. Ms. Brown has thrilled her fans from the very beginning with storylines which were alot more believable and romantic than Alibi. I love her novels being depicted in the South, that was the hottest thing about Alibi, because hot romance and suspense were definitely lacking. Between Sandra Brown's novel and Linda Howard's novel this has been a summer of disappointment for their faithful readers. Maybe next Spring or whenever their next books are due out they will have returned to the style which made them famous and in such great demand as authors. Their last two books seem to be punishing the fans who made them so popular as writers. I am truly sorry for that.
