Summary: More Romance than Mystery
Review: This is my first Sandra Brown novel and although it was a good read, therre was just waaaay too much romance for me. Characters were ok, a little bit one-dimensional, but still likable.

All in all, if you just need a book to take to the beach, this would keep you occupied for an hour or two.

Summary: Brown has done it again
Review: Sandra Brown has once again proven that she knows how to write an excellent suspense novel. I became a fan of Brown's way back when all she wrote were romance novels. Over the last few years she has proven she can mix romance with intrique. I was spellbond by The Alibi. The characters were very believable and complex. I had a hard time trying to figure out who the killer was. Read this book you'll enjoy it....

Summary: Brown Bubbles!
Review: What Dom Perniongne is to champagne...Sandra Brown is to cleverly mixed romance and mystery. In "The Alibi", we are set in charming Charleston. Land of manners, mansions, & sometimes murder.

Meet Hammond Cross, ambitious macho prosecuter, and Alex Ladd, mysterious femininely wily suspect. Their relationship is as a see-saw, bouncing up and down, as the authoress elaborately weaves tales of murder, lust, and political mayhem. And as on a see-saw, a balance of sorts is always found.

Well described, alive with characters, and delving details. Snuggle up & bubble with Brown.

other reading suggestions: "Exclusive" by Sandra Brown and "Belladonna" by Karen Moline

Summary: Good, but rushed ending
Review: This book captivated me until the last 80 pages. I expected more of a plot coming from Sandra (who is my favorite author). Usually her books have more twists and turns. In one chapter they, all of a sudden, know who did everything. I'm just like, I could have made it more interesting than that! I don't see or believe the magnetism that could have attracted two very unknown strangers to each other in the very beginning of the story. To tell you the truth, when I got through w/ half of the book, I thought it was going to have a sequel. Then, I got towards the end of the book and I was praying it had a sequel, but all of a sudden the story ends and your left w/ no explanations and a disappointing ending coming from an excellent author.

Summary: A very enjoyable story
Review: This was the first Sandra Brown book I've read, and I will be glad to read more. This was a very enjoyable book from the very start, with interesting characters and a good story. It had a couple of interesting subplots going on as well, which kept me guessing for quite a while. I did figure out "whodunit" well before it was revealed, but it wasn't obvious. The story moved at a good pace, and the reader on the audio cassette version was very entertaining. A highly-recommended murder/suspense novel.

Summary: THERE'S ALWAYS AN "ALIBI"
Review: While my two favorite books by Sandra Brown are The Witness and Exclusive, this book runs a close second in the suspense, with a little bit of romance thrown in, category.

Hammond Cross is a county solicitor with aspirations of becoming the next District Attorney in Charleston, South Carolina. And, he should, because he is honest and ethical -- two traits that should be sought after in this position. Hammond's semi-downfall in this book is his attraction to the beautiful Dr. Alex Ladd who unfortunately is suspected in the murder of Lute Pettijohn, a wealthy, local businessman. Hammond and Alex spend an unbelievable night together and that night of "passion" becomes Alex' "alibi".

Other characters enter into this scenario especially Steffi Mundell -- who wants to be the next county prosecutor, Rory Smilow -- the chief detective and ex-brother in law of the murdered man and Hammond's own father who had some disreputable dealings with Lute Pettijohn himself. While many of the characters could have reasons of their own for killing Lute, the prime suspect is still Alex Ladd. Hammond Cross can't believe this is true and sets out to prove that someone he feels this strongly about could not possibly be a murderer.

Sandra Brown weaves a tale of corruption, romance and tension. You'll be on pins and needles until the conclusion of this novel.

Summary: A Must Read!
Review: Sandra Brown's The Alibi has all the components of a great book-mystery, romance, and caracters that you love to love and love to hate. Since getting the book, I've read it five times, and each time it gets better! I didn't want to put it down, reading well past bedtime. To readers: If you want a good book if you're snowed in, or for anytime of the year, The Alibi is the book to get. Sandra Brown is a very talented writer, and she will become a favorite, especially if this is your first book of hers. I read her previous book, Unspeakable, and I will make all her books part of my collection. In other words-I'm hooked! :)

Summary: The Alibi
Review: The truth is out there! Sandra Brown is not just a writer, she's a ROUNDER. She not only plays the cards, like the pros she plays the people -the reader - page after suspenseful page. The Alibi proves her prowess, and whets her growing fan base for another steamy fast paced read. South Carolina's ambiance is a perfect backdrop for the seedy intrigues of the legal profession. Enter the hero, dignity intact. Enter the heroine whose background is as colorful as Jacob's coat. One night. Sex. Sweaty sheets. Hero's dignity down the toilet. Fingers point to his clandestine lover. Murder! Who pulled the trigger? He can't get her out of his mind. Now she is the prime suspect in Charleston's most nefarious homicide. Everyone wanted Lute Pettyjohn dead. Alex Ladd is in the hot seat, so is the prosecutor, Hammond Cross. Prosecute her? Not what he has in mind. Fully rounded, sympathetic characters leave you wondering. Hold on to your hat. Wild ride included in the cover price. Thank you, Ms. Brown.
