Rating: Summary: First Rate Fiction Review: The third novel by Sandra Brown shows that she "has the goods" to excite her loyal fans. A mixture of corruption, romance and deadly intent in the South Carolina setting, The Alibi captivates the reader from first to last.A good read for a fine summer day!
Rating: Summary: Just Average Review: While I have read previous books by Sandra Brown, I thought I had found a new author whose books I would just lap up. I really wasn't happy with this one. Romance has a place in mystery books, but this was overkill. Every time the two lead characters, Hammond and Alex, were together, they jumped in bed. Everytime they looked at each other, they were ready to jump in bed. I think too much sex detracts from a good mystery. I'll wait before I buy her next book.
Rating: Summary: WAKE UP SANDRA BROWN! Review: SANDRA BROWN IS BY FAR ONE OF MY FAVORITE ROMANCE WRITERS. SHE HAS REALLY STRAYED FROM THAT STYLE WITH HER LAST SEVERAL BOOKS. WHILE THEY ARE GOOD BOOKS THEY LEAVE US WONDERING WHY SHE HAS CHANGED HER STYLE SO MUCH. THE ALIBI IS A GOOD READ, BUT IF YOU ARE THINKING THAT IT WILL BE LIKE SOME OF HER BOOKS LIKE THE TEXAS SERIES YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. SAVE SOME MONEY AND CHECK IT OUT OR BORROW IT FROM SOMEONE ELSE.
Rating: Summary: Zzzzzz Review: Not sure what all the fuss is about. Rich, bad man getsmurdered. Everyone is a suspect, everyone has a past. Plot twist, plot twist. True love, and some form of police work, prevail. Murderer Apprehended! News at 11 . . . Hated Hammond, hated Alex--both deadly boring people who jump in the sack and call it a relationship. And this is before they exchange names. (In what universe does this stuff occur? Please tell me: I too would like to have several degrees before I'm thirty, thin thighs, perfect sense of style and morals, ... all in the span of a week. Wow. No time for real work in that world.) Good notes: Davee--she's a blast; and Rory--uptight, with a hidden inner life. Too bad nothing went anywhere--they were definitely more interesting than the snoozer main characters. Has anyone else noticed how people in this book (and similar books)end up being ultra-successful before most real people can actually be out of graduate school? With all these potential Doogie Howers flying around, it's a wonder no one figured out who the murderer was before page 500 or so. I did--somewhere in the first 50 pages. Maybe that's what made the rest of the book so boring. Skip it. Save the trees.
Rating: Summary: Sandra Brown is the New Queen of Suspense! Review: One word can describe this novel: Fascinating. Because that is exactly what The Alibi is. It starts out with the murder of real-estate tycoon Lute Pettijorn. Almost every character in the book has a motive of killing Lute including the police chief, his wife, his close friend, and other lawyers. It ends up that Lute is a powerful and evil man because he will hurt people in order to get them to sell their land. So which one had the guts to go out with their murderous plan. Could it be his sexy wife, a police officer, or a district attorney fed up with Lute? Read it and find out! This is Sandra Brown at her best!
Rating: Summary: One Star Short Review: The Alibi had a great story line and was hard to put down. I gave it one star short of five stars because I felt like the main character, Hammond Cross, who is the Assistant D.A., was lacking in likeablilty. I won't say much about the storyline, because I don't want to give it away. Basically The Alibi is about a influential man, Lute Pettijohn being murdered. Every character in the book basically has motive to murder him, it's just a search to find out who did. In comes Alex Ladd, who is accused of the murder, but has a "secret" alibi, that will rock the case if it comes out. I recommend The Alibi as a great read. Espically if you are a Sandra Brown fan. This book doesn't dissappoint as a few of her latest releases does.
Rating: Summary: This is a Keeper Review: I have been a long standing fan of Sandra Brown since she first started writting for the romance lines almost 18 years ago. The Alibi stands as one of her unforgettable works. The supense builds page after page right up to the end of the book. It's impossible to put down. The laundry remains unwashed, the kitchen needs cleaning, but nothing can interfer with finding out how Hammond and Alex are going to over come the physical and integrity barriers that Ms. Brown has created for them in her latest book. I didn't want it to end, and what an ending it was! Would have loved to have had an epilogue of what happened to Hammond and Alex and if Rory and Davee managed to bridge their wounds. Now I will wonder.......hmmmmmmm. This one stands as one to keep and re-read over and over again when you want to believe in love at first sight, and an ending that leaves you wanting more.
Rating: Summary: Plan to stay up all night!!!! WONDERFUL!!!!! Review: This is the first Sandra Brown novel I've read and if this is any indication of her writing ability I will read all her books. I wasn't sure I would like this particular book but once I statrted I couldn't stop. I read this in one night. I just couldn't put it down. She managed to have enough suspense to keep you glued to the book to see who the killer was and just a little romance to add spice. What a GOOD READ!! Don't miss this excellent novel if you like mystery/suspense. Nothing boring about it.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!! Review: This book is a must read. I loose interest in books very easly, but I could not put it down. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. There's love, murder, scandal and lots of mystery. I love the characters, you feel like you really know them.
