Summary: Walk Two Moons
Review: This is definitely one of the best books I have ever read. I think Sharon Creech did a good job in transisions, detail, and keeping the story in first person. Between "The Lunitic",
Mary Lou's family, and Sal, this book comes out in a strange but exciting way.

Summary: SAD BUT HAPPY CLASSIC
Review: The story of Salamenca (Sal) and Phoebe is heartwarming. It was one of my favorite books a few years ago. I reccomend it to people of all ages though.

Sal is going on a road trip with her grandparents to try to rescue her mother and bring her back home. Along the way, Sal recounts the strange story of her friend back home, Phoebe. Phoebe is a precocious 8th grader who is convinced of the worst. Sal recounts several memories with her friend, including a run-in with a "physco", dinner with Mary-Lou and her huge, hectic family and the dissapearence of Phoebe's mother. Underneath Phoebe's story, Sal sees her own story. Sal's mother left with a note saying she was going to Idaho to find herself. After Sal's mother left, her father got out his hammer and hammered away one of their walls. The next morning, when Sal awoke, she found her father and underneath the wall he had just hammered away, was a brick one. Sal compares the wall to herself. Underneath Phoebe's story is her own.

This a GREAT story and one of my personal favorites. It appeals to all ages, and the themes will last forever in the heart of the reader.

Summary: oh give me a break
Review: this book was too slow. and i thought that sal was idiotic. think, she runs away from a pregnant woman who comes to sit on her grandparent's blanket because she is afraid of them, but she (a 13 year old) can drive a car for 4 hours on deadly roads on cliffs in the rockies.Sal cant seem to get over her mother, it's been over a year or so and she still thinks her dead mother is going to some up to her house and say "oh i am home and im never leaving again, i devout my life to you, please can you ever forgive me for straightening out my life???"
lets move on with other characters.
PHEOBE. what a jerk.We had to read this book for class and 85%
of the 7th and 8th grade said pheobe should've been the one who died, not gram. All she can ever think about is herself. And she is way too defensive. here are some quotes
" I dont eat any food with COLESTEROL in it"(this is when she was at the finny's for dinner)
"I'm too fat! you dont care about me!!!"(she SCREAMED that at her mother)
Pheobe is not an exciting character at all.I ended up hating her by the early-middle of the book.

GRAM & GRAMPS:all sal can say about them is that they are wild and unruly.like teens. but you never see them do anything wild. unless you count wading in lake michigan. ohh wow exciting

Summary: Walk Two Moons
Review: This book is a wonderful story of a child that faces the lost of her mother. She explores the trials and tribulations of moving to a new house and going to a new school where she meets a wonderful friend names Pheobe. Through Pheobe she sees alot of herself. She takes a trip across the country where she visits her mother;s grave as well as dealing with the loss of her grandmother. In my opionin alot of points are made throughout the book that apply to everyday life. My son loved this book so much. He told me that it made him realize how good he had it. That in itself is priceless. It is very entertaining and hard to put down. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: A Touching Story
Review: The life of Salamanca Tree Hiddle - also known as Sal - is suddenly turned upside-down when her mother takes a "little trip" north. On the way to visit her with her Grandparents, she tells them a story about Phoebe.. while discovering the story of her own past.

I think I enjoyed this book more when I first read it at eight than when I re-read it this year as a required reading book. However, I still think of it as one of my favorite childhood books and would recommend it to others, although I enjoyed some on Creech's other books (Bloomability, The Wanderer) more.

Summary: Walk Two Moons a review by Christine
Review: I love the Newbery award-winning book Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, and it's one of my favorites. On the way to Idaho to find Sal's wonderful missing mother. Sal starts a story about her friend Phoebe Winterbottom, her mother who disappeared , and an awesome adventure these girls won't ever forget. This story is exciting, dangerous, saddening, and much more!
Sal's mother, whose nickname is Sugar, left her and her father and went to Idaho to sort things out. Sal missed her all the time and kept everything of her mom's. She was convinced her mother would someday return and their routine would go on like usual again. Sal and her father moved to Ohio because everything on their farm in Kentucky reminded them of their precious Sugar. There, Sal makes friends with Phoebe and gets dragged through all her crazy problems.
On the trip, Sal's grandmother has a stroke and goes to the hospital. Her grandpa gives her money and the car keys knowing what Sal had to do. Even though she was only thirteen, she knew how to drive because her grandpa taught her with his truck. She had to get to Idaho and finally retrieve her amazing Sugar. Sal makes it dangerously to a rest stop, and there she finds the secret of what happened to her mother. Now I leave you with the fate of Sal's mother and grandmother.
I encourage anyone who hasn't read this book, to read it. I guarantee you won't want to put it down until you find what happens next. I have read this book many times and still enjoy it. Sharon Creech, the author, has written many other books, too. If you liked Walk Two Moons, try reading these other books: Absolutely Normal Chaos, The Wanderer, Pleasing the Ghost, Chasing Redbird, and Bloomability.

Summary: Walk Two Moons
Review: Walk Two moons is a very well witten story By Sharon Creech. The first 80 pages of the book did not keep my interest but as I read on and the story got weaved together I was gingerly sitting at the end of my chair waitng for Salamanca and her companion Phoebe to make there next move. This story is about a 13 year old girl named Salamanca Tree Hiddle. Her passion for nature will never be forgotten. When Salamana was a little girl her mother left her behind without saying goodbye and only leaving a scrap of paper. When Salamanca gets older, her grandma and grandpa take her from Bybanks, Kentucky all the way to Lewiston, Idaho where she had last heard from her mother. As they drive on Salamanca tells a wonderful story about Phoebe Winterbottom. It is a similar story about Salamanca and how Phoebe's mother disappears. Salamanca and Phoebe uncover many clues from the so called "potential lunatic". This is one of my favorite books and I'm sure you will enjoy it, too.

Summary: Fantastic book!!!
Review: I teach school and I use this book in the classroom. It is wonderful. It is a multi-layered book that even states that it is in the beginning of the story by comparing the storyteller's story to a wall that the storyteller's father tears down only to find something beneath. The figurative language is wonderful. I would highly recommend this story to anyone that is looking for a good book to read that really makes you think. Young and old alike.

Summary: Walk Two Moons
Review: Walk Two Moons was a good book, but it definitely wasn't one of my favorites. One thing I didn't like was that there was hardly any action. The only time that I didn't want to put the book down was when Sal was at Phoebe's house waiting to find out who the lunatic was in connection with Phoebe's mother. I did however, like how unique Sal was. I mean, not many people think that kisses taste like blackberries. Another thing that I liked was the way Mrs. Creech described things like the trees and the swimming hole. It made you feel like you were there.

I think the best part of the book was the end, when everything came together. Things had changed, but everyone was happy again. Everything was as normal as could be expected. Also, things finally started happening, like Phoebe's mother caoming back, and Sal driving herself to Lewiston. The end was so much more exciting than the rest of the book.

For me the setting and the climax were the most vivid elements. The setting because as much as places like the farm were talked about, it made me feel like I had been there. I also liked the setting because some of the places they stopped are places I would like to visit. I picked the climax because it was the most exciting part. granted, it was a long time coming, and sometimes I wondered if I would fall asleep before I saw any action, but once it came it was good. Overall, Walk Two Moons was a good book.
