Rating: Summary: emotional roller-coaster Review: Even tho this book is rated for 9-12 year olds--as a grandmother, I read all the books I give to my granddaughters. There are actually 3 stories going on at the same time. I laughed all the way through --at the slightly daffy grandparents and the strange friend of the heroine. The 13 yr.old along with her friend do a little detective snooping to find out who is the town 'lunatic'. I was very surprised to find myself bawling my eyes out at the ending. Every teen should be allowed to appreciate this author's style.

Rating: Summary: Walking To the Moon--and back! Review: In my 7th grade english class this year we read Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, along with several other well chosen books meant for adolescants. Every year we read the same kinds of books. Some novels all written the same way, with the one story told throughout the book, started at the beginning, and ended at the end. Walk two moons is NOT like that. Unlike every other book, this story starts in the middle, weaving through the beginning, the end, plummeting to the beginning, skipping to the middle, until the end. I know that what i just said wasnt correct "gramatically", but there is no other way to put it. This book was great. A story under a story, under a story. Though this book only has 2 moons, it has five stars--from me. at least!!! -abby
Rating: Summary: Sal tells her story through her friend's story. Review: Salmanca Tree Hiddle (Sal) has lived in Bybanks, Kentucky all of her life. One day her family (her father and her) move to Euclid,Ohio. Sal's dad says that his mother haunts him at their old house (as she has died), and that some day they would return to Bybanks. Sal feels strange and lost in Ohio, until she meets a girl named Phoebe, a boy named Ben and his sister Mary Lou. Sal's mother said she needed some time to find herself and left the house alone for a while when she was alive. Phoebe's mother appears to be doing the same thing. Sal tries to explain it too Phoebe, but Phoebe won't listen to any such thing. Sal and Phoebe have a very close friendship and through Phoebe's story, Sal learns her own. Told on the trip that Sal and her grandparents took on the route that Sal's mother went, this book was very interesting and kept me turning page after page.

Rating: Summary: "Walk Two Moons" Class Book Review Review: In this book review are some things that our class liked and disliked. Read this book review to see if you're interested in reading "Walk Two Moons", by Sharon Creech. One of the best things in this story within a story is the characters. Sal is a 13 year old girl with long dark hair. She came from Bybanks, Kentucky and moved to Ohio. In this book Sal goes on a trip with her grandmother and grandfather, and in another plot, she's telling the story of trying to find out who "thelunatic" is. Sal has a new friend in Ohio named Phoebe Winterbottom. Phoebe lives in Euclid, Ohio where Sal moved. Phoebe is a worry wart. She worries about everthing in her path. Her mother disappeared and they have no idea where she went until the end of the book. Another good thing about "Walk Two Moons" is that there are a few cliffhangers. Like when Sal and Phoebe try to find out who was leaving the mysterious notes at the end of the chapter. Another example is when Sal tells her father that she left something under the flloboards in her room at their house in Baybanks, Kentucky. In the book "Walk Two Moons," Sharon Creech puts in good details. An example of that is the characters are described so well. In "Walk Two Moons" Phoebe doesn't like cholesterol and how Sal is emotional when either her mom dies or if her grandmother dies. Another good detail is the vocabulary in the book. Some words are gooseberry, chickabiddy, Ill-ah-no-way, Huzza, Huzzo, and Id-e-ho are some vocabulary in the book "Walk Two Moons". There are a lot of things that are sad in this book. A lot of people in this book died because there was a really bad accident on a bus. Sal finds out what really hapens to her mother. If you like a book that's mysterious and funny and sad, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Book! Review: Salamanca Tree Hiddle is a "country" girl at heart. When her father and she move to Ohio, Sal's life is turned upside down. But Sal leaves, with her strange grandparents, to go to Idaho to find her mother. Along the way, Salamanca tells the story of Pheobe Winterbottom, a girl whose mother suddely leaves her family. Slowly, Sal realizes that her own story is beneaths Pheobe's. Walk Two Moons has to be Creech's masterpeice. No wonder it won the Newbery. :~D
Rating: Summary: This is the very best book I ever read! Review: Walk Two Moons is my all-time favorite book. It has a rare combination of humor, mystery, adventure, and sentimentality that make reading it a real experience-an experience that I never get tired of. The book, in reality, is two stories: The first (the emotional and mysterious one) being that of 13-year-old Salamanca Tree Hiddle (Sal) and the turbulent times after her beloved mother leaves her. The second story (the one with the humor, aventure, and more mystery) is one Sal is telling her grandparents on a car trip from Ohio to Idaho, where Sal hopes to find her mother. It is the story of Phoebe Winterbottom, Sal's best friend, Phoebe's mother (who also disappeared), and Phoebe's wild imagination. The transitions between these stories are handled surprisingly well; where most authors would have trouble avoiding clumsy jumps between plots, Ms. Creech has laced them together to the point that one could almost not exist without the other. As it turns out, these two stories are woven together in more ways than one, and the knowledge Sal draws from them, her grandparents, her trip, and herself, finally give her the strength to face the truth about her mother. I would recommend this book to anyone, and after reading it I passed it on to my best friend and mother, both of whom adored it. To miss this book would be a tragedy
Rating: Summary: A Book of Friendship and Mystery Review: Walk Two Moons, a fairly new book written by Sharon Creech is sure to be loved by everyone who reads this marvelous book: One day, in Bybanks, Kentucky, Salamanca Tree Hiddle's (or Sal's)mother leaves the family for a "Little While," when Salamanca's father "Plucked me up like a weed," and together, they drove 300 miles north to a small town called Euclid, Ohio. Soon Salamanca and her father recieve the shocking news that Sal's mother will not be returning from the small town of Lewiston, Idaho. Soon Sal meets a friend in Euclid named Phoebe. This abnormal child soon finds out that something very serious has happened in her family. So what is it? What Happens in Phoebe's family? Will Sal ever see her mother again? This book is very differnt that any other book that you will ever read because of the use of charcter. Sharon Creech describes the characters in this book so well- it was as if you could go to the top of your stairwell, and that same exact person would be sitting in your living room. The author would always add a little zest to the different charcters or scenes also, as she added a little humor there, a little drama there, sometimes even a little bit of both! It's hard to find weaknesses in this book . I think that anyone who reads this book front to back will find only the different strengths that Sharon Creech has, and hardly any weaknesses. This amazing story of Phoebe's is told by Salamanca in the car with her wacky and hillarious grandparents on an adventure of it's own, driving from Ohio to Idaho as Sal and her grandparents try to capture Sal's mother back.
