Rating: Summary: Complex plot, some surprises, enjoyable to read, deserves 5! Review: This book, in my opinion, is an excellent book that I've read many times. Inside this book are some ingredients to a truely touching novel. First, there's that crazy, wild and funny areas that cover a very sad core. I'm talking about, of course, Phoebe Winterbottom, who's perfect life was untouched by anything out of the ordinary. When tragedy hits, however, she is unprepared for a shocking disappearence, leaving her lost and confused. Second, there's the dreaming and difficult remembering that Salamanca goes through. As she recalls the past, she wishes that she had done so many things differently to change the position she's in now. This leaves the reader saying, "Awww." Overall, this novel isn't the kind that you read and forget. Everything in it sticks to your mind ......SUMMARY: Salamanca's mother, Chanhassen "Sugar" Pickford Hiddle, had promised to come back to her daughter and husband before the tulips on their farm bloomed. She had just needed a bit of time alone to clear her heart of dark thoughts, taking a cross-country trip from Bybanks, Kentucky, to Lewiston, Idaho. But after the tulips bloomed and withered, she still hadn't come back. Feeling that the farm reminded him too much of his bygone wife, Salamanca's father takes his daughter and eccentric parents to the Ohio city of Euclid. Thinking that she should have a chance to visit her mother, Gramps and Grams bring Salamanca to Lewiston, tracing her mother's footsteps and stopping at every landmark she had seen. While on the way, Salamanca tells her grandparents the wacky story of Phoebe Winterbottom, a girl who Salamanca met in her Euclid school. Salamanca realizes while narrating the tale how similar she and Phoebe are, both with departed mothers, and both acting alike while fighting to get over it. There's a whole other story about Phoebe also. SUMMARY: Phoebe Winterbottom is a quiet girl, whose fickle imagination is unrivaled by none. In her world, people are either perfect or just plain wicked. That's what attracts Salamanca, who becomes her best friend and gets involved in Phoebe's abnormal life. The trouble begins when an odd young man (who Phoebe automatically points out to be a raving lunatic) is seen lurking around her house, asking questions about her family and mother. Once in a while, cryptic messages would be found written on blue paper on Phoebe's doorstep. Then, something happens that changes Phoebe's life as it is. Phoebe's mother disappears, leaving no note of reason. Phoebe, being how she is, convinces herself that the lunatic had kidnapped her, because she loved her and wouldn't leave on purpose. Read this book! Its an excellent book to add to your collection, and you won't regret it. I promise!
Rating: Summary: Refreshingly Unique Review: It seems like so many authors fall into the trap of "ho-hum" writing, and their book read like a million others. Sharon Creech is a wonderful exeception to this theory. "Walk Two Moons" is anything but ordinary as it weaves together multiple stories. It begins with Salamenca Tree Hiddle, who is taking a trip across the country with her grandparents to visit her mother, who left Sal and her father a while back. Soon, we hear the story of Sal's eccentric friend, Phoebe, who has a mortal fear of cholesterol and lunatics. Sharon Creech skillfully weaves Phoebe's story, Sal's thoughts about her mother's leaving and her new life, and bittersweet tale of her Sal's grandparents into a rich, honest, feeling, and most of all UNIQUE novel! Read and enjoy!

Sure, it has 44 chapters but the print is big and most chapters are reasonably short. You won't be able to put this book down!!

As 13-year old Salamanca Tree Hiddle entertains her grandparents during a car trip to visit Sal's mother I was captivated. Rating: Summary: Walk Two Moons Review: Would you ever like to go to Idaho in search for your mother? Well that's what happens in Sharon Creech's Walk Two Moons. Walk Two Moons is like two stories in one, because Phoebe's mother goes away and so does Sal's. Even though this book doesn't have any pictures, the author uses so many adjectives you can see pictures in your head. I like this book because it's exiting. I think the lesson or moral is appreciate things while you have them. I recommend this book for very mature readers of ages 9 to 15 and also some adults will enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: Walk Two Moons' Touching story Review: Walk Two Moons' Touching Story The book Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech tells the story of a young girl, Sal, who deals with the heart-breaking news that her mother wasn't returning after disappearing one morning. Next thing she knew she was moving to the city instead of living on the farm she grew so used to. In the city, her father started seeing a woman named Margret Cadaver. Through most of the story the girl embarks on some interesting adventures with her new friend in the city, Phoebe. Sal, the girl, tells her grandparents a story about her best friend Phoebe whose mother went away for a while, but returned. Sal became desperate about finding her mother and the whole story becomes a race against time to find her. This intriguing heart-felt story grabs the reader's attention as a young girl searches for her mother in more than one way. Her mother develops her own problems and can't live in a home with her family any more. This creates the conflict in the book when Sal's mother is gone. Sal has no one to really look up to for guidance because she feels betrayed by her father for loving someone else. Sal's English teacher helps her in a way by having her write journal entries about anything she wants. This helps her put down into words what she's feeling about her mother leaving and how she still has a good life without her. All through the books she is writing these thoughts down and in the end find what it all meant. The author of Walk Two Moons develops a fascinating story line about a young girl's problem coping with her mother being gone and never coming back to live with her. The book begins at a slow pace but by the second chapter it becomes a realistic story of something that a friend might have gone through. It's a book that has a limited audience that would really enjoy it. Sharon Creech's book Walk Two Moons tells the story of a young girl who deals with the news that her mother wasn't returning after leaving one morning. Soon after she found out she had to move to the city her dad was now involved with someone new and it was difficult for Sal to deal with. This emotional roller coaster for Sal makes the reader to get more involved in the story. It' s a wonderful book that young adults would find interesting.
