Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: I waited a year for its publication, and it was worth it! Once I gbegan to read this book, I couldn't put it down. The story is fun, the writing is enchanting, and the characters are wonderful. I have read every one of Ms. Quick's books, and have been thoroughly entertained.
Rating: Summary: Boring read... expected better... Review: I was bored beyond words with this tale of dark suspense set in shadowy England in the 1700's. I thought I was in for some real suspense and good romance, but I was shocked to find myself wishing it would end. the suspense is mediocre and the romance is cliche at best.~Beatrice Poole, a 30 year old widow and a vicar's daughter writes 'horrid novels' under a different pen name and is fasinated with the darker side of passion. She is very successful and wishes she too could experience something as exciting as what she writes. When her beloved uncle is found dead, she gets her wish, so to speak. She is now on the run to find her uncle's killer and what he was hiding. Beatrice calls on the 'mad monk' of Monkcrest, Leo Drake. He would know how to help her since he was known for his dabbling of the 'dark life'. Leo soon realizes they aren't simply looking for a killer, but they are being hunted down and the reason is an ancient artifact that everyone seems to be after. I wish it hadn't been so boring, but it did get good reviews in general, so I might have missed what everyone else saw. Tracy Talley~@

Rating: Summary: Not up to her usual quality Review: I was sorely disappointed with this work. It appears as if the author is recycling older works and just plugging in new locations and characters. Not enough time spent on the romance either!!! I also feel that the quality of her work has diminished since Ms. Quick began issuing her books in hardcover before the paperback is released. I normally grab her books off the shelf as soon as I find them, but after her last two releases, I may have to reconsider.
Rating: Summary: Not her best work...but okay. Review: I've read many of Amanda Quick books and this one definitely wasn't her best. It was interesting at times even exciting. But it became too predictable towards, what should have been, the climax of the story. I read that someone felt the author was rushed for time...I tend to agree.
Rating: Summary: Talent tells. Review: Mrs. Beatrice Poole needs help in recovering the small inheritance promised to a young lady in her family as a dowry. Since the inheritance is a legendary treasure, she turns to expert collector Leo Drake, Earl of Monkcrest. Monkcrest, also known as the Mad Monk of Monkcrest Abbey, is fascinated by the forthright, headstrong widow. Little does he know that Beatrice is also know as horrids writer, Mrs. Amelia York, and that she helps prostitutes get off the streets by training them as French ladies' maids. Thrilling passions, mysterious treasure, brooding heroes, what more could one want? Well, how about strong heroines, witty repartee, and unusual supporting characters? Quick's novels have it all and this one is no exception.

Rating: Summary: More Regency mystery, typical Amanda Quick style Review: Not as "silly" as some of her more recent books, With This Ring does give the reader an interesting tale of mystery and intrigue, with her usual Regency-style humor. With I Thee Wed around the corner, I don't think Amanda is quite through with this particular story line. However, I think it's time Amanda quick get away from this treasure hunting/Zamarian/alchemy rut she's got into and try a different tack. But we still love you, Amanda!
Rating: Summary: Herusual delightful and enchanting story Review: Proper society women in Regency England do no write horrid (romantic gothic horror) novels. Nor do ladies of the Ton resolve to avenge a relative's death and restore the family fortune by journeying to a bachelor's country estate with a former prostitute as her only companion. Beatrice Poole travels to the home of Leo Drake, the Earl of Monkcrest, in orderto obtain his help in securinge the the stolen dowry so that her cousin can marry the man she loves. Leo, AKA the Mad Monk of Monkcrest, is totally bemused by the determined, domineering, and difficult damsel, who arrives unannounced on his doorsteps. Leo agrees to help Beatrice locate the Forbidden rings of Aphrodite, a priceless antiquity that someone murdered her uncle in order to possessthem. As the couple risks their reputation and consequently their lives, they find a more valuable treasure: a deep and abiding love for each other. WITH THIS RING is an entertaining, fast-paced Regency romance written by the unique and refreshing Amanda Quick. The characters are eccentrically endearing and their romance sweet yet passionate. The villains are delightfully wicked and the small dose of mysticism adds a gothic feel to what turns out to be a retrograde "horrid" romance. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Better Than Affair, but Still... Review: This book is much better than Affair in that there is more humour. However there is a tendency for the mystery to rather overshadow the romance. And I miss scenes where the hero and heroine will talk out their feelings and insecurities. But all in all, still a good read. Yet somehow I'll still wait for it in paperback.
